Sometimes (for some weird reason) your drive will only show up if you plug it into your PC's USB 2.0 ports - not the USB 3.0 ports. (under the premise that your device has USB 2.0 ports)
My USB flash drive is not detected at all meaning that there is nothing shown in device manager whether the USB flash drive connected or not connected to the computer

Yes, I've had this issue. Most devices are fine on either port, but USB drives only work on the first one (luckily my PC does have 2 of each!)
