As a natural born American and have seen plenty of wars in my 68yrs and can say this with a heavy heart our country is number one in causing wars. I suggest that people look up where we rate in any category and you may be shocked. Thank you professor Wolff.

We are not the richest country per capital, and I wish people would stop contending that we are. Travel to Austria or Norway to experience people who are richer than we are. This country funds poverty, and we are doing a great job of creating a poor, bitter society.

AmeriKKKa has been here for over 400 years. The U.S. capitalistic economy started with the sale and export of African bodies. Now the workers are treated like they are devalued, expendable and underpaid. Thanks for the talking points, especially about the Decline of the USA. I just did some research on China (Port building proliferation) and their super-powers - global supplies and how they lock down the ports and factories.... that are happening right now.

Americans should remember, every congressional vote that follows party lines is an example of how our government is far more concerned with maintaining partisan control than serving the American people. It’s a terrible joke.

In all conservative waddling down of proposed benefits, they are never made to explain why cutting proposals back yields more benefit. If education brings prosperity then they are arguing for less prosperity or that education doesn’t pay for itself.

Teacher's unions will help represent bad teachers who are difficult and expensive to get rid of as well as putting money towards non-educational purposes including political campaigns with 99% going to Democrats.
Liberals prefer local schools which could be bad, whilst Conservatives prefer school choice where you choose your own public school, charter school, private school, online learning option, private tutoring, or homeschooling option so the child gets a good education and can avoid being indoctrinated in Marxism and the oversexualisation, porn learning and LGBTQ+ indoctrination now in Sex Education.
With prosperity, certain types of schools have cheaper student loans. I often here about Lefties who study a degree, even useless degrees and then can't even get a good paying job linked to the degree and end up having to pay it back. With blue-collar workers and working a trade, you can make a lot of money with or without the necessary degree.
Conservatives are against wasteful spending on schools as they are for low tax, against certain things in the curriculum and hate bad teachers that hinder their child of a better education. They find ways of living with prosperity no matter the level of education, though they will make more if they have a specific degree and potential jobs planned out

@@anthonycooke2401 i don’t find rightwing tropes, vilification and monolithic assertions regarding the “left” very interesting. Counterexamples abound in the EU regarding education.Unions are necessary but are like any other societal faction, they all must be subject to consensus and consent, something the right undermines every minute. There is a faction of US wealth utterly commited to their authoritarian hegemony over the nation. US conservatism has been taken over and made into their instrument.

@@GhostOnTheHalfShell I see authoritarianism coming from the Left but they will need to abolish the Filibuster to achieve most of this. They want mass migration, mass amnesty (immigrants vote Democrat 2:1), make DC and Puerto RIco States as they will both get to Democrat senators, federalise election law (which may include universal mail-in ballots for everyone), abolish electoral collage, abolish the 1st and 2nd amendment (they see facts, logic and opinions they don't like as violence and getting rid of the guns will ensure mainly criminals will have them and lawful citizens will be unsafe) and add seats to the US Supreme Court.

The subsidies given in France were created to promote a positive birthrate, which is important in France for their retirement program....The subsidy program is called CAF...Caisse Allocation Familiale.. It's based on the number of children you have, and it's income based. There are a multitude of programs in France that are designed to help families, and yet families still struggle.. While the French system runs circles around the American model,it's not without flaws.

It sounds like the US is a god awful place to live, especially if you don’t work and have children that need to be properly taken care of. Wouldn’t it just be quicker to move to another more enlightened country that does provide total care of a family with children. In most successful socialist countries with amazing social programs like Sweden… almost everyone works and pays very high taxes. Maybe Greece… but they rely on EU and now US to keep afloat… please tell the listener who is in need of proper care which country will support them in a proper manner (guaranteed good paying job, etc.)

We don't even have mandated vacation time, or sick days. A co-worker "lost" her (meager) holiday pay because she fell ill on ONE of the days that you are required to work to "qualify" for her holiday pay. This is someone who VOLUNTEERED to work most Saturdays...that WEREN'T scheduled (as most of them were). A fine 'thank you' on behalf of the company for her company loyalty. Yeah, capitalism!!

Poverty was artificially lowered, while we handed our poorest over whelming debt, as those rents must be paid. On that train of thought, as a home owner who has split my house into two apartments, one for myself, the other to create a rental income that barely kept me above the poverty line, guess where I sit now. Of course the family of four next door appears to be sitting off much better, we have simply traded places. Not only have I been negatively affected, I am concerned for them, they are under water. What is the answer to this issue?

    • @42Mrgreenman
      @42Mrgreenman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I interpret what Prof. Wolff advocates for as a change in mindset. Instead of squeezing people into whatever job is created by the owners, use the education system to understand a person's strengths and weaknesses, then have a job creation/placement system in a group(s) of worker co-ops or treat the community as if it were a co-op business in partnership with a co-op state. For example, you may have a citizen that is a good guitar player...but just playing the guitar doesn't produce beneficial content that can generate revenue for the community. They need organizers, promoters, other band members, accountants, event designers, coordinators, food service, ect.
So it's joint ownership of the company/community decided democratically among participating members. The pay for each position and distribution of profit also decided democratically. Even something like a constitution with agreed upon minimums and maximums to keep the ambitious from trying to consolidate power/votes...Take our idea of local democracy and apply it to business...
Anything like this however, would start with an overhaul of the educational system, with emphasis on finding what students are passionate about and teaching varied practical as well as social skills that are applicable to modern society: Accounting, legal/judicial process, critical thinking, information technology, medicine, psychology, and philosophy...Problem always is however that we all have pre-existing baggage and the discrepancy of wealth/influence between the haves and have nots is so vast...If power concedes nothing without a demand, we need many more people making that demand than is feasible in this society to overcome the influence of those who just will not give up even a tiny slice of what they have for "The greater good" of people who they will never know, being ignorant of the indirect benefits those people will provide them in terms of more ability to work on improving society rather than spending all their time just trying to survive...
Critics often baffle me when they say that if you give someone something out of generosity, you breed laziness...Nonsense, you breed community, for almost everyone with a conscience knows that when someone does something for you just because you are a fellow human being, you feel the desire to repay them in kind. If the community supports you, you will feel the need to give back to it in turn...
tldr; The "F*ck you, I got mine." mindset is destroying this society...
