    The Yani sounded so great with you playing. Such a delight! The gap closed a bit when you played the series II with the softer reed. Yes still to the Yanagisawa.
    Haruka in the end snippets, yay!

    Great video as always, Adriene! Wishing you the best on your new sax journey. You got me really interested in trying a Yani.
    How's you interest in P. Mauriat been? I recall you mentioning them when you first mentioned that you were looking to replace you VR

    I have Yani T901 With upgraded neck from Wo20 super responsive and that became amazing set up for me 🥰 Strongly recommend to try before you buy any new horn 🥰👍👍

    I have a Yani TW-020 myself and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately the laqcuer doesnt want to stay on those. But regarding mechanics and sound projection it was the best tenor I´ve played so far. Very responsive although it needs some time to warm up cause of the bronze corpus.

    Appreciating all these comparison videos lately. Picked up one of those Giardinelli plastic mouthpieces you like yesterday, just to have something to reface and work on mainly. The store also had a cheap hard rubber Giardinelli for ~$30. Going to get it next week to see the design differences. Loved how that Selmer sounded, but I also can't stand that resistance in them. If it's too much for you, I know I wouldn't be able to handle it.

    First, mostly they sound like you. As someone who prefers a darker / warmer tenor sound I found the Series II to be more to my liking stonally. Neither sounded bad by any stretch of the imagination. The lower part of your altissimo was less strident to my ears.
    Either one is a great choice though 🙂

    Thanks for this excellent video again! The Selmer SA II has been around since 1987. Longest running model ever. They must be doing something right. The ribbed construction makes it very sturdy and perhaps comparatively heavy. I heard people using an SA III neck and this may have something to do with the resistance maybe?

    • @wckoek
      @wckoek หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Series II was designed by classical people who usually perform sitting, the neck was terrible for playing standing hence people change the neck to III.
      But with the III neck the II will lose a bit of focus and projection in favour of warm and spread.

      Ah very informative. The angle never bothered me or more likely I got used to it standing up

    • @wckoek
      @wckoek หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thierryroullier8401 Yes, another thing is that Series II work better with small size classical mouthpiece, with larger jazz mouthpiece the intonation wouldn't be perfect.

    I am missing the nuances through my headphones, of course, but my choice would be the SA80. More body to the sound, when I hear you playing.

    I usually prefer the Selmer's but this w02 is great that is your horn imo.

  • @AcevedoDMA

    Make sure to try the Yanagisawa saxophones with other Yanagisawa necks. Underslung vs overslung effects how you feel the response of the sax. Then the metal makes a huge difference as well! I find that if you are between two instruments playing the neck from one and the body from the other might be your perfect fit.
    I have been playing WO2 with a WO1 neck or WO2 with 66 neck for about two years now. (WO10 and 991 with those same two necks for the previous 5+ years before that!).

    Too bad indeed about the SII resistance because I found your tone much richer on this horn. The yanigisawa is a Ferrari but the tone ... I am not sure about it. Just a personal opinion.

    Every time I play a Selmer , feels like I smoked a whole pack of Newports ! I settled on all of the Yanagisawa WO2 Unlacquered. Alto , Tenor , Soprano WO2 UL . I’m never going back to Selmer . Don’t even wanna try the Supreme .

  • @ricardoballeste3198

    Get the Selmer SA 80 serie 1 or The Yanagisawa.
    The horn must be adjusted by a repair technician to sound the way it's suppose to sound.
    If the key hights are not adjusted right you will be out of tune either in the lower or the upper register.

    Have you tried the Eastman 52nd St Tenor Sax? I tried the alto and it blew me away. Wasn't ready to pull the trigger back then (I should have because they were way more affordable when I tried them out). Would like to know what your feedback is on it.

    • @Sirvalorsax
      @Sirvalorsax  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't tried them yet but my local music store has the other Eastman saxes for now 650 and 850 Rue St. something. I'll try to get demo them before they sell out. I would advise financing them at 0% interest so you can be locked in at a lower price

    I have a hard time justifying a Selmer after comparing to a good Yamaha these days, the TWO2 is better than the Selmer here in my opinion.
    So the TWO20 is even better?

    I think the best sound was on the selmer! Resistance...not sure..I play the sa80 with no problem of resistance?

    • @Sirvalorsax
      @Sirvalorsax  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the plating is causing a phenomenal amount of resistance for the Selmer. I've played the Reference 54 alto with the same plating and it was also pretty resistant. I also played a regular lacquer Series 2 and it was very nice. If I were to buy a Series 2, I'd get a silver plated one

    Selmer is a stylish sound. It can sound good everywhere. Yanagisawa is like a cow mooing. Where to use this sound? I don't know. There is nothing to compare Selmer is certainly better.

  • @royharrison9471

    Thanks for another interesting comparison. While the WO20 is top or your list, it wasn't the case for Jamie Anderson on this posting: th-cam.com/video/x383vfm2fuY/w-d-xo.html (I hope you don't mind me linking in another sax professional!). It's interesting to see how different people have completely different perceptions. I have a WO1 and it's doing a good job for me.

    • @Sirvalorsax
      @Sirvalorsax  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw that one. Yanagisawa saxes tend to be very free blowing so I would recommend bring stiffer reeds when trying them out especially if you are coming from a Selmer. This is why I brought extra reeds this time
