I'm like you. I love starting new projects and do them all at once. At least if you start, you are closer to finishing, and they are easy to pick up when you want.
Hi from the USA. I love watching your videos! You have very similar interests to me and, you are right-it is great having a Quilty Friend! It's nice to just sit and have a chat about ongoing projects. I would love to see your charity shop haul, always fun to get to see other peoples' finds.
You can show me anything. I love having a quilting friend. You have so many cut things going on. So I would love to see what you got with your sister at thrift store.
Yep, I’m the same as you, UFOs galore (un finished objects as I call them lol), stored using seal bags, plastic containers, empty punnet boxes. I get fed up quickly so alternate probably too much between them. I love doing the miniature hexi’s and squares so no fabric is too small and I have scrap hauls lol. So yes “I’ve found my people here” 🫶🏻
It was so fun to watch this video!! I totally agree with you about having a friend to talk to about what you love to make. I only do things by hand and I love EPP!!! I have gotten very frustrated with the quilters I’ve met because when I mention EPP they don’t want to talk anymore. I’m beginning to think that hardly anyone does handwork in the US😢I would love to see your charity items! I now search for handmade things so that I can rescue them. It’s really nice when I find a stack of vintage fabric shapes ready to stitch!
I had just made a cup of tea and sat down to your video. I like my tea black and no sugar. Not too strong. I love all your sewing projects and like you I have two or three on the go. I have found since lockdown I have finished projects. I think having had the time then, got me in the way of having finished items. I for one would love to see your charity shop purchases. I would hate to think my handmade items ended up there but it is lovely that someone like you has picked them up and will love them. I don't have any quilty friends and love to listen and see what you have made. Thanks for your brightening up my day xx
Thank you for joining me for a quilty chat! I only started EPP in lockdown, and it's spiralled since then 🤣 I will definitely be showing my charity shop finds. That is what made me sad too, I dont have any children to pass my makes onto, but we shouldn't worry about these things as we got lots of stitch days ahead of us! Speak soon xx
So enjoyed the video. I had to laugh i have three quilt tops going right now. I’m new to quilting and i keep seeing something new and i want to try it. Would love to see your haul.
Hello Rachel, I've been unwell and though I'm recovering slowly I do still need to rest in bed a fair bit so I've just been watching your video and happy to subscribe to your channel. I love your pretty fabrics and the idea of sharing your lucky finds when out in town with your sister sounds good to me. I felt privileged to be able to see your sewing things. I like most kinds of needlecraft but also love my dog and our garden which my lovely brother helps to look after. We live in beautiful fresh and green Northern Ireland and pink in all its shades is my favourite colour. God bless, vera.
Hello Rachel from the great state of Indiana, USA. I just adore your hexi project and fabric choices! You and I would be great sewing buddies because we like the same colors and designers of fabrics. I have so many UFO projects and can’t help myself starting new ones when I see what others are doing 😂 I would love to see what you recently purchased on your shopping trip. It is really fun to see what treasures people find in their local shops. Happy stitching and keep up the great work on your projects and channel. ❤
I love Liberty fabrics too. I have no "crafty" friends at all. My daughters aren't interested in any kind of craft, one of them is always interested in what I'm doing but the other one really doesn't get my excitement when I send her a picture of my epp quilt top that took me 7 months to stitch! Oh well, we are all different aren't we! My hubby does take an interest though and he always encourages me. I would love to see your charity shop purchases ❤
That's such a shame, it can be disheartening but we all know the work that goes into an epp quilt top. I know it's gorgeous and well done for finishing the top... you're a better needle woman than me 🤣
I've saved selvedges for a couple of years, there are lots od things you can make sewing selvedges together. I'm making a sewing machine cover and a cushion. My dog eats everything the moment she gets it. Love your work. 😊
I really thought I’d be a monogamous quilter but it hasn’t turned out that way. I have 2 baby quilts, 4 farmer market bags, a memorial quilt for my dog, mug rugs, a quilted rope rug, my husband a flannel quilt, an EPP project and a quilt as you go. Oh, and a log cabin quilt I started 20+ years ago. But I am working consistently on all of them. I’m so surprised that I’ve turned out this way. I really can’t wait to see your hexagon quilt done some day. It’s going to be spectacular. Truly.
Yes, I love to see your haul, & what you are working on!! I am in the US, so your “bits & bobs” are very different from what we have available here! So, I love to see what you’ve been up too!! I also liked your informal video tonight! Keep up the good work! 👏👏👏👏👏🌿🌹🌹🌹🌿
I love to watch all your videos, & I agree with you - it is nice to have like minded friends to share your projects & stories with! I would love to she your shopping haul!
I'm enjoying this format of your videos alongside your project-specific videos. It's nice to follow along with other multi-craftual people who carry on with lots of different projects, and then we all get to share in the dopamine hit of progress or finishing things. LOL
Hello Rachel. Yes I do enjoy your channel. You sound like me and my many different projects. Next time I'll have to prepare cup of tea. fferent projects.
Hello Rachel. Lovely little vlog. That EPP quilt is going to be beautiful. I going to be making some coasters and table mats and have the Daisy & Grace rectangular templates to get going on another quilt but need to get going on making Christmas gifts. Would love to see your charity shop haul and indeed any further crafty buys in the future. Yes - definitely good to go to affluent area charity shops. “See” you soon. Lesley x
Your videos are so inspiring. Stumbled upon that rectangular QAYG this morning and now everything else I've been doing is boring by comparison. While I wait for those templates to arrive in Pennsylvania you have inspired me to pull out my box of hexies so now I will be immersed in this project til the box from England arrives.
Hi Im from Philadelphia PA USA Google suggested you to me. I love you sharing your epp with us. Thank you. I'm also interested in embroidery. However, no where near a Sarah H. Can't wait to look at more of your videos! ❤❤
Hi from Canada! I like my tea sweet with lemon. Lap trays are great, and I just love Superior brand “Bottom Line” thread for piecing, it’s strong, fine, polyester thread, very silky. I like to have a few different projects going, so if I screw up or get frustrated by one, I can switch. Knitting seems to fit better in my purse, for waiting rooms, than hand sewing. The remnant bin is such fun, isn’t it?
I had to laugh I don’t even want to count how many projects I have started! I have finished some this year though - I cross stitch, knit and EPP hand sew. Love your videos 😊
Hi Rachel, I really enjoy your videos . I must get to the quilt show next year . Charity hauls would be welcome. Your stitching is beautiful. X Lisa Uk x
Thank you for sharing.....love looking at all your projects....and fabric......I only sew .....and been doing it for about 6 years love EPP ......been making my way through your vlogs .....thank you so much x
I love your channel. Just stumbled upon it recently. I haven't done any EPP or hand stitching in quite some time. I started to cut Christmas fabric yesterday to make a hexie table runner. I'm looking forward to picking it up again. Thank you, Rachel. (That is my youngest daughter's name as well)
Thank you for your video, and yes I'd love to see your charity shop haul. We went up to St Andrews last May and the charity shops there were brilliant so you're right about them being better in affluent areas - have a good week x
If l have a messy eater at my table, I turn the placemats over, so any stains are on the back. My mom used to throw a clear plastic table cloth over special table linens to prevent stains. You could even give the messy eater his own special placemat, like: Greatest Dad, Handsomest Husband, Welcome Guest! That way he'll never know that it's because he's messy. 💖🌞🌵😷
Just watch this video. Think the cream background on your hand piecing is Bumbleberries but can't remember who by, maybe Lewis and Irene. Loving your videos x
Thank you Rachel for a beautiful video. Your projects are so pretty. I too knit, crochet, quilt, and I just began my journey into EPP. ~Pam in South Carolina, USA
Hi I don’t usually comment but I have been enjoying your videos and I wanted to let you know. I too live in the UK and I’m just starting out quilting that is buying all the tools a machine etcetera so I don’t know much about quilting and I’ve been getting some inspiration from you. I have knit and crocheted for years & I’m only monogamous when it matters. I’m happily married and faithful to him but not to crafting projects I have so many knitting & crochet projects on the go and I’ve just started sewing & I’m making myself a nightdress. Thank you for all your hard work and yes I am interested in your thrift buys and your projects.
Good morning, I am so glad you are enjoying my videos and are taking inspiration from them. Have you got any plans for your first quilt yet? My first quilt was a "string quilt" it was easy as there wasn't so many points to match. Monogamous when it matters, I like that phrase 🤣 I am so glad I'm not alone with all the projects on the go, if something takes my fancy I just start it straight away! Happy crafting xx
@@stitchwithrachel Hi thanks for getting back I have bought some fabric from Amazon Qililandiy 8pcs Cotton Fabric some 80/20 batting and backing & thread then I discovered the jelly rolls but they are expensive so maybe buy some in the future. I’m going to follow your video of the 2.5” x 5 “ wall type quilting I haven’t bought the Daisy and Grace template yet I’m still collecting tools and I still need the large plastic cutting ruler and a rotary cutter but I’m pacing myself to keep my hubby happy the costs are certainly adding up. I’m thinking of doing some parts by machine and some by hand. I’m going to make a quilted sewing machine cover because I don’t like leaving it uncovered. I got my machine two days ago after a week of intensive research there’s just so much I have to learn and the bag is not arriving for another week. Thank you for your videos at the quilt fair I hope I can go next year. I live in Cheshire so it’s not too far. Like you I’m not confident driving to new places but I think my hubby will take me. It’s lovely having someone likeminded to talk about crafts with. I bought some Simthread All Purpose Polyester Embroidery Machine Thread for my quilt is it okay to just sew with or is it just for embroidery I thought it was cream but it’s a bit dark but hope to make it work. If you are thinking of new videos to make could you do one for beginners on the tools threads & fabric recommendations? I’m sure there are a lot of people that would benefit from your knowledge and experience. Chherio for now.
@bettyboop18 you'll have so much fun once you get started, even buying the tools is fun but you are right they can add up sometimes but you will get plenty of use out them hopefully. The sinthread embroidery thread is great for hand stitching as I've shown in my video but too thin for the sewing machine xx
Tilda and Liberty all in the same episode - what’s not to love. I recently picked up a blue and white vintage French cup for the grand sum of £3. I think I’m going to do a little bit of stitching and turn it into a pincushion - would love to see your haul.
Yes I’d love to see your charity shop haul. Yes nice to have a quilty friend and you have inspired me to pick up some hand stitching, I liked the qayg templates you showed recently. Also I’d like to do more epp hexie quilt, I did start one but only got as far as a doll quilt! Maybe I might do bigger hexies next time! 😂
I really enjoyed this friendly chatty video! Have just had it playing while I work on binding my daughter's doll quilt (using the decorative herringbone method from one of your other videos!). Would love more videos like this, it's very cozy! If you're looking to build up a community, I know Discord is very common for that these days. I don't really participate in Discord much myself, I find it very difficult to keep up with Discord and prefer old school forums and message boards, but it is an option.
Oh Rachel I am so happy to have found your lovely channel. I love your work and your videos are so inspiring. I live in the west Midlands (Kingswinford) too and love charity shopping too. I would love to see your charity finds. I wasn't able to go to the Festival of Quilts this year but have started a monthly saving pot for next year. Do you ever go to the October Malvern Quilt show, just wondered what that was like. I have started following you on Instagram too (Im Tatters and Heirlooms on there !! Thank you again for sharing such a lovely channel. xx
Aww thank you for such a lovely compliment. Its nice to meet someone local too. I've never been to the autumn malvern show but I do plan to this year but I was speaking to a few EPP related vendors at the festival of quilts and they said they don't do the autumn one but they do the spring show so I believe the autumn one is smaller. Good idea for the savings pot, I think I'll do similar too xx
I absolutely love your videos. I started an EPP quilt years ago but didn’t get very far. Other crafts took over tbh. You are inspiring me to get back to it. I just need to get a few things finished and I plan to get it out. I would love to see what treasures you found in the charity shops. ❤
So glad to hear that I'm inspiring you to pick it up again, sometimes just sewing one or two hexies is all it takes to really give you the motivation aswell. I will definitely be showing my charity shop bits later this week.
Loved watching this while working away on my slow stitch. And would love to see your charity shop haul. I love looking at other people’s scraps too 🤗 I share my op shop hauls (Australian charity shop name) on TH-cam when I have them. cheers, Christine
Hi Rachel, lovely to see you again. I love your work. You have reminded me that I bought the same kit from Susan Smith at F o quilts last year, I need to dig it out. What is your preferred size of next to work with . Going to check out your festival of quilts video out now..Love Sue from Lytham St Anne's xx
The suzan Smith templates are so good to work with. Did you get the small or the large set? Did you mean my favourite size hexi? I like 3/4" but to be honest I haven't used much 1" but definitely no bigger than that. What about you?
I have several hexie projects ongoing, several partially made quilts, probably 75 cross stitch projects on the go, plus several crochet projects. If I were a better knitter I’d probably have some of those going too. Jealous of your easy access to Liberty fabric. It is so expensive here in the States. You could give your dog human grade meat. Bet that would end the hunger strike hopefully. 🐶
I read your comment to my partner to verify that I'm not the only one with all the projects on the go! I think giving my pup chicken has caused the strike... how dare I not give it to her for one meal 🤣
I have just found your lovely site and thoroughly enjoyed it. I love paper piecing and have done a pink Hexie quilt, all fabrics have pink in them with the same plain pink centre to pull the designs together.....Kaffe Fassette idea. Please tell us more about your embroidery business. Kind Regards. Alison Jane
You hexie quilt sounds lovely, Alison. As you can see I love pink aswell! My embroidery business is just a small online shop where I sell personalised kids wear x
@@stitchwithrachel Process crafter too. I have „a few“ WIPs in knitting, crocheting, spinning, embroidery, patchwork and sewing… But I finished finished two Baby quilts this weekend.
£3.50 is a lot for those edges. Shame on the vendors for that. Most of those would be unusable for most projects. £1 is the most they should charge for scraps. I bought a scrap bag once and I was very disappointed with the stuff they put in the bag that should have been chucked in the bin.
Yes! Bring out the charity shop haul!
I'm like you. I love starting new projects and do them all at once. At least if you start, you are closer to finishing, and they are easy to pick up when you want.
Half-inch hexxies and 1/4-inch squares?!?!?! Girl you’re mad!! Such lovely work, so glad I found your channel.

Lovely video, would be great to see what you bought in the charity shop
I'll definitely make a video on that as the bits are beautiful, although I wish I brought more!

Yes to the charity shop haul. Lovely to see your projects too. Sometimes the selvedges have really designs on too!

I'd love to see what you got at the charity shop!
Tilda and Liberty all in the same episode - what’s not to love. I recently picked up a blue and white vintage French cup for the grand sum of £3. I think I’m going to do a little bit of stitching and turn it into a pincushion - would love to see your haul.
What are Tilda fabrics ?
Yes I’d love to see your charity shop haul. Yes nice to have a quilty friend and you have inspired me to pick up some hand stitching, I liked the qayg templates you showed recently. Also I’d like to do more epp hexie quilt, I did start one but only got as far as a doll quilt! Maybe I might do bigger hexies next time! 😂
Yeah I think bigger hexies make the project grow faster.. I must take that advice myself and then I might finish something 🤣 x
Love your video and yes please we would love to see your charity shop haul 😊xxxx
Beautiful the smallest hexagon I do is 3/4 inches from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Would love to see your finds in the charity shops.
So glad you liked this style of video!
I am multi-craftual!
Brenda from Conquering Mt Scrapmore sent me to your channel. Monica from Australia
Aww thats so lovely, thank you for visiting x
I will check out your op shop videos! Glad to have kept you company while you stitched x
Brenda sent me. Enjoyed your video.
I hav many projects on the go. I’ve recently found diamond art. So I have ev. More projects half done.
Hi Rachel. Brenda from Conquering Mt Scrapmore gave you a shout out so I thought I'd check out your channel. I'm from northern Louisiana.
Oh wow!! I will have to watch that video, amazing x
Your hexi quilt top is so lovely ❤.
Hey Rachel, what hand sewing technique are you doing for your quilt squares. They are beautiful.
The tiny ones at the beginning? They are EPP with hexiform rather than papers
What kind of lap tray with legs did you get? Would be useful to know. Thanks.
It's the KLIPSK bed tray from IKEA, it's £10 but you can get similar ones else where.
I enjoyed your video!❤
I like quilts friends we have things in common
Absolutely! We understand each other 💖
I'm in usa, i love your pastel fabrics. Do you know where I can purchase Hex-foam over here, no one iseems to know what I'm asking about.
Rachel, do you ever work with Hexiforoms, if so what do you think of them? TY🙃
I do use hexiform occasionally and I really like the product. I've never done a whole quilt in hexiform because of the price.
Love love EPP. I COULD Barely hear you😊
Brenda from conquering mount scrapmore asked me to knock you up. Hi 👋 from Gwen l live in Calgary Alberta Canada
What kind of divider box do you keep your pieces in.
Hi,do you keep your papers in your hexies until you've finished your project?😊
@maureenmcgreevy3866 hello, I usually remove and reuse them as I go along 💕
The question is: Are you a project or process crafter? If it is more about the process, than have a lot of projects, it doesn’t matter 😊
definitely a process crafter! I guess that explains it. What about you? Xx

Hi quilts friend luvTeresa
volume is very low. checked all mine
Brenda from mount scrapmore sent me
Aww awesome! I'll have to watch the video. Welcome x
Sorry. Your accent reminds me of my Gramsey
Aww thats so lovely, hope that was comforting to you x
