Thanks gathering parts now and here is an added idea for after the holiday which I think may just add a bit more for a short time later, how about creating a minature sleigh with reindeer to fly around the same set up just have not how to keep Rudolphs nose lit up, Curious about your thoughts on the extended seasonal variation
@@murphyg27 I think that’s a great idea!
At first I thought you had set this up in a real cemetery. I then realized you just have a HUGE yard. Very cool!!!
Thank you so much! Highest compliment! I have 2 acres that I go crazy with.
Yes I thought the same thing.
🪦👻🪦
I thought the same thing. Wow its amazing and huge yard😮👍
Yard envy here too. That yard is what our house builder put 6x 4 bed houses on!
OH THIS IS SOOOOO GOOD. Love the fishing hardware and the coupler. Those 'physically' small details are the ones that are so vital and end up taking a bunch of time to figure out. Also weatherproofing. Ohio Halloweens are always a wet affair. Thank you so much for this!
Thank you SO much! I really appreciate the positive feedback!
Nothing says Halloween like Harry Belafonte... You achieved the Axworthy effect without a kit- great job!
Ha! Thank you!!
Halloween is so fun. And your cemetery with the ghost will be a big hit with the kids. Great job. 😱😱
Thank you so much! Happy Halloween! 👻🎃
I already check about 13 videos and your has the best info and simplicity on my project, thank you!!!!
Aww! Thank you SO much! I really appreciate the positive feedback!
How did it go?
That’s the coolest! Genius how it endlessly patrols back and forth. 🤣👏👏
Thank you!! I have SO much fun with it!! 🤣👻
This is so excellent, thank you!! I really like the slow, ghostly speed too, just right.
Awesome!!
Thank you so much, Steve! I appreciate the positive feedback. 👻
I love the bounce it gives too
I remember watching a TH-cam post a couple of years ago with a similar setup.
I believe that setup included a 3rd wheel adding another leg for the ghost to travel.
Loved your post. Short, simple and easy to follow directions….
Scariest thing in your video was the lifelike ghoul sitting on the steps in the background. 🤣
Enjoy your Halloween! 👍🏻👻💀👹☠️❤️🥂😎
Haha! Thank you! I appreciate it! Happy Halloween to you as well. 👻🎃
Great video.. This as always been a great prop to use in a graveyard display..
This is so cool!!! Your channel has Ben on fire this year! Thanks for making this.
Aww! Thanks for the positive feedback, Jeremy!
So realistic!! Brilliant!
Thanks for this tutorial !! I've been trying for so long to find a simple mechanism 🥰🥰
You are so welcome! I hope this works well for you!! 👻🎃
Man if I had a yard that big I would have some fun. Great job!
Thank you so much!
Just received the parts from Amazon...put together and works great! Thanks for this great tutorial!
That is awesome! Thank you so much for letting me know! Happy haunting!
I love how drones can accomplish this feat.
But drones are so noisy.
And you have control the drone as well
Brilliant Thanks for sharing. I have some ghostly CD's I play with Howling wolves, screaming, and other creepy Halloween sounds. Very creative.
Thank you!! Your Ghostly sounds will be perfect for this!!
That looks so good wow you are awesome great instructions too thank you this is perfect
Aww! Thank you so much for the positive feedback! I appreciate it.
What a great set up, sooo much room! It looks fantastic. If I could figure out how to make it look as if the ghost rises out of the grave vertically and then takes flight, I would make one for my yard.
Thank you, Steb! I like your idea too! 👻🎃
This is amazing and so creepy! I love it!
Thank you, Flee!!!
Looks really effective and realistic, was hoping that you would show how the ghosts were made to.
Thanks! I can do a video on that!
This looks fun. Maybe for next year.
great video!!! i couldn't stop singing and dancing though. had to watch it a few times. Made for a fun evening :)
Thank you! 👻
Great video! Like to add on the last wheel you left an open hole in the wood. Going to say for long term use might cover that up to keep moisture out.
Great suggestion! Thank you!
Great setup for sure. I noticed fishing weights in your parts layout. I am assuming you use those on either side of ghost attachment swivel to keep it in place? Just wanting to understand how you are keeping ghost in place with just a swivel connector over the line. Thanks so much and again, great set up.
I decided not to use them in my set up, but they can go on the line on either side of the ghost to keep it from sliding too far back and forth in the wind.
Nice video.
Perfect speed for the ghost.
Nice 'n smooth
😃!
Thank you so much!
Omg this is soooooo awesome!!! I wish I had a better understanding of electronics because I don't think I could replicate this unless you made another video titled the same, but with "for dummies" in parenthesis lol
🤣🤣 thank you so much! Totally worth giving it a try!
thank you very much, just ordered all the parts. going to be great. Danny
Fantastic! Happy haunting!
That's an awesome idea. Well done!
👻👻👻👻
Thank you so much!
That’s a very good achievement with some very clever ingenuity.
Thank you so much!
great effect..looks very creepy drifting along, even during the daytime.
I constantly see & hear cats in my home when I lost my last cat 6 years ago.
I have a ghost in my garden too that creates very warm spots by a little tree & also a sweet perfume smell.
If u get out of the habit of expecting ghosts to perform on "spirit boxes" or give u jumpscares then there are lots of subtle signs there's something there. it's reassuring really if we can visit loved ones after death or that beloved pets can still show they're around.
Great tutorial and a great result. Thansk for the video!
Thank you!! 👻👻👻
@@scarriehalloween Maybe I missed it - but where do you get the hair from? You are right, it's a great detail to add hair.
@@ELMSTREETDK I cut hair from a cheap wig and hot glued it on! 🤣
Adding ALL of this to my cart! I am so excited to try this. Thank you for sharing. Can you talk more about the locking bolt on the receiver and the setup of the house of the motor? How you attached everything?
Thank you! Do you have specific questions regarding these things?
I thought that was very neat thanks for the idea keep posting it's good to learn thank you happy Halloween
Thank you!!
Pretty Clever and looks great. Happy Halloween 2022
Thank you so much! Happy Halloween to you!
Absolutely incredible!!!! Fantastic job and very creative!!
Thank you SO much! I really appreciate the positive feedback!
white women be learning electrical engineering and mechanics just for their halloween displays. meanwhile black folk out there can't even complete high school smdh
Good video inspire me to make a Halloween prop
Really nice, I like it. Must be better to see the ghost around night I think, pretty cool overall.
Thank you! I’m going to post a night video within a couple weeks!
@@scarriehalloween Nice! Happy Halloween!
@@Ethylamine you too!!
This is truly GREAT work... Bike wheels on the kitchen island.. what a catch you are! 🏆👍😂🤣
I am currently in the process of making something similar for a short film. The only extra element I added was a second suspension point at the waist of the skeleton so that he/she always flies in the same direction.
Best wishes from an Englishman making armour in a French forest... Stay creative and Happy Halloween! ⚒️🦇🎃
Hahaha! Hilarious! Thank you so much and have fun making your short film!
This is just incredible 👏

Hi thank you for the info!! I was able to get everything I need to attempt to make my own, thanks to you! Could you tell me how you figured out which size coupler you needed for the bike tire and motor ?
Oh awesome! You will want to measure the bolt diameter on both the wheel and the motor and order the coupler accordingly. 🥰
This is great. My neighbor just put one up, he's having a little trouble keeping the line from popping off, any advice?
LOVE YOUR CREATIVITY AND LOVE HALLOWEEN 👍👻🎃
Thank you so much!! Halloween is the best!! 👻🎃
@@scarriehalloween YES IT IS 👍😁
This is very creative thanks for sharing ..
Thank you, Duane!
The is AWESOME! What a great thing to do with y’all’s yard. That is a massive yard! How many tombstones did y’all put out? How long have y’all using this flying ghost prop? Have you had any issues with it? Looks great. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Joe! I built this flying ghost only last year, so it’s new! I put out about 125 tombstones and lots of props over our 2 acres. 🤣🤣
@@scarriehalloween I tip my hat to you, so to speak. I have issues just trying to setup a regular suburban neighborhood sized yard. You did a great job. Maybe I will do a flying ghost next year. Still trying to get done the projects I started. Still need more tombstones here. Thanks.

How did you make the axle onto spin inside the wheel?

*AWESOME MOD ON AN OLD CONCEPT, THE CREEPY 60S HORROR MUSIC WAS THE CHERRY ON TOP.* 👍🏼
Haha! Thank you so much!!
Does this moter allow it to move forwards and backwards contiunisouly? Also is it possible to make a solar option or set this up on a timer system to be used as a bird deterrent in a garden?
It only moves in one direction. Yes, I think it’s possible to connect solar, but that is beyond my skill set!
This is incredible! Does the ghost just go around the wheel when it gets there?
It sure does!!! Thank you!
Great job 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much!
Why did you use the coast wheel as a drive wheel? Seems like you'd want to use the wheel that locks when engaged to drive. Cool idea! Might give it a go.
Thank you! It’s actually the opposite. Coast wheel is on the return and locking wheel as the drive. Have fun!
Great music at the end 😱
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Totally over engineered mine, wish I seen earlier.. great job!!!
Thank you!
excelent !!
Thank you!!
Pretty cool just wondering does it ever get bunched up or caught up in the wheels while making the turn?
Thanks! No, I’ve never had an issue with that on my setup
Nice very good job 👍
Thank you so much!
Cemetry and ghosts are awesome, plus bonus of after Halloween you will have a natural, moving, clothes drying system
Thank you! 🤣
You're a genius lady 😎
Aww! Thank you, Bruce!
Fenomenal
That's enough to give a little kid nightmares lol
Lol! For sure!
What was the make and brand on that reducing coupler I can not find one like that?
Blue Coupler: amzn.to/3revlSy
What kind of knot would be needed to join the fishing line, or do you use something to join the two ends?
Gosh, I wish I knew the name of the knot! I put the two end together in same direction and tied together
I love your yard! Though why did you use a windshield wiper motor?
Thank you! A wiper motor provides enough torque for this prop. 😊
Ohh! Ok thanks
The ghost is attached to the line with a fishing clip. What keeps the line from just moving under the fishing clip without advancing the ghost, especially when the line is going uphill?
So, this design isn’t intended for uphill, but you can attach the ghost directly to the other fish clip on the line, or use fishing sinkers on either of the line, “pinning” the ghost in place. I go into a little more detail on part 2 if you want to check it out. th-cam.com/video/Ricynnp-rOU/w-d-xo.html
Nice job 👍
Thank you!!
Can you use a smaller wheel? Or would that throw off the speed. Got a few kid bikes around my area but with varying sized wheels.
I think you can use a smaller wheel!
Hello, I was wondering what type of bracket you used for the wiper motor? Thank you for your time.
Hi! You can pretty much use any L shaped bracket to attach the motor. I used this one, but had to make adjustments to it, like drill the holes larger for the motor. amzn.to/3EukM5Z
Hi there I have been during the day (package delivery) and its very impressive fellow u tuber
For real?! That’s so cool! Thanks for the positive feedback!
What did u use to cover the inside of the wheel where the line goes? I put black tape on mine but I don't think it's gonna work...
I also used black electrical tape and it holds up well!
Such a cool idea! One question, How do you keep your ghost from spinning while using a swivel attached to the fishing line?
Thanks, Mark! It does spin some, but usually corrects itself.
The wind resistance to the ghost's "body" will help keep it oriented the correct way. I've got a skull with some spooky cloth draped over it that I hang from my tree with fishing line, and it only faces the way the wind is blowing.
Great job! I've know about Axeworthy flying ghost props for over 20 years, but I've never found the time to implement it. You've got the perfect set up for it with those two trees to hide the mechanism behind. I'd love to see it lit up at night!
@@rcredmon mine always corrects itself to face forward too! Love it!
@@rcredmon thank you! I’ll be posting a flying ghost Part 2 soon, but for now, here’s my graveyard setup with nighttime footage of the flying ghost! th-cam.com/video/Bo63Bm5PmHs/w-d-xo.html
Hi scaryHalloween I’m in Canada and I’m trying to do a flying ghost setup. I really like your neat clean and tidy setup :). I’ve read comments and found links to motor and coupler.
Would you be so kind to guide me where I can find ac adapter and the part that connects from motor to ac? It’s the little green piece that bare wires connect to.
Thanks
Lewis :)

@@lewisjerome1589 you’re very welcome!
Hi! I am currently working on this. How did you tighten the fishing wire across the two poles? This is the challenge i am expecting. Thanks!
Hi! It was tricky, I’m not gonna lie! I basically had to pull it tighter little by little and used a clamp to hold the line in place. It is much easier for shorter distance! This year, I’m going to add a center pole/support to keep the ghost from sagging. Good luck!
@@scarriehalloween thank you so much! I'll let you know how it goes!
Please do!
I've seen a setup where one of the wheels was mounted on a swinging arm that was attached to a spring, so there is always some tension in the system. The wire will stretch over time, so the spring setup pulls that out automatically. Good luck!
Good video, but I wish a few things were added. For example, a 12v wiper motor is used but no mention of the amperage of the power supply. A 12v 1amp P.S. may not work. (I used 12v. 5a. power supplies for mine). Also, links to the products below would be nice for some people.
Do you also want her to come build it for you ?
@@mykelg9423 lmao 🤣 😂 I was thinking the same thing
🤣🤣
What size reducing coupler did you buy and what model is the wiper motor? Also, where would we find the green wire to 12v connector? Thanks!!
Hi Marc! Here’s the coupler, motor and power supply used. This power supply includes the green female adaptor. You can also find these on their own on Amazon.

Power supply with female adapter: amzn.to/3CeOCJR

@@scarriehalloween Thank you sweet pea!! I have been wanting to do this since the original came out. I just dont want to spend a fortune doing it either...I like to experiment with the cheap version first LOL!! Please let me know how the additional fishing line fixed your ghost spinning!!
@@marc416 I totally understand! Good luck and have fun!
So cool!
Thank you!!
HELP! I'm using a 20 1/2" wheels ( couldn't find any 8"), and the wheel shaft turns independant of the wheel, so how does yours turn? It looks like you used the front bike wheel for your power wheel.
I actually used 16” wheels, but misspoke. 20” will work great. I used the back wheel on the return and the front wheel on the motor. Try tightening nuts on the motor wheel to get it to stop spinning freely
Amazing video! Great instructions too! Do you know what you used for your motor bracket and where I can purchase it?
Thank you so much! I’m attaching a like to the brackets I used, but keep in mind these were not intended for the motor, so I had to make adjustments on it, like drill a couple holes larger! Otherwise, I’d say keep an eye out at any hardware store!

Thanks! Props to you for making this look so simple. I finished it but i cant get the line to stay on the wheels. I tried kite string and 60lb stealth spider fishing line. The distance is 50ft. Do the rims need to be bigger? (Its a kids bike similar to yours.)
How did you mount the pole in ground?
Do the 2 mounts need to be same height on both sides? Any help you can give me on why it wont stay on the wheel. Thanks!
@@xxSandman1873xx I’m so sorry to hear about your line! Have you tried a shorter distance between poles/wheels or considered adding a middle support? I’m adding one for mine this year because it’s such a long distance and it would sag.
I did it wont stay on. Im thinking because the wheels arent 100% same height or because the drive wheel shakes a little.
@@xxSandman1873xx sorry to hear!
You mentioned that the coupling between the motor shaft and wheel axle wasn't strong enough itself with just those pins tightened. What type of adhesive did you use from JB weld? I tried using Gorilla Glue which I had handy, but without fail once I get the line tension dialed in it's too much for the pulley coupling to handle and it pops off. Any thoughts?
Sorry to hear that! I used JB Weld: cold weld formula, steel reinforced epoxy
@@scarriehalloween thank you! Maybe I'll give that a try as one last Hail Mary before Halloween. Great tutorial btw!
@@dms6117 thank you! Best of luck to you!
Very cool great design! How do you get the 2x4 to stay in the ground? You said it’s removable or cemented in? Thanks
Thank you so much! They are removable, but have underground cement bases that I can use year after year!
How to did you find a post base for a 2x4? I thought they only made them for 4x4 posts.
@@IntoTheReef I made the base with cement. Dug a hole, poured in the concrete, put the 2x4 in and pulled it out once dry
I loved your ghost, so, so, so, COOL!! in the cemetery..🙂🙃🙂💀☠👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻
Thank you, Dwayne!!
Have the lines ever popped off the wheel? And could you use smaller wheels like pulley wheels?
I haven’t had problems with the lines coming off, but it’s possible if the line isn’t tight enough. I would recommend a larger wheel, rather than a pulley wheel for that very reason
so off topic but ur countertops are beautiful
Thank you!
Brilliant!
Thank you!
Was your video slowed down? Or was it in real time? I watched a few other videos on how to build a flying ghost, and they had their motor on slow and the ghost still just flew very fast around the wheels and it didn't look at all creepy. Maybe their motors were bigger? I know their wheels were, not sure if that made a difference.
Very cool ghost. Thank you for sharing. How much did your ghost weigh? And did you have any problems keeping tension on the line?
Thank you! No, this video is not slowed down. The motor that I used has a perfect speed for this! I made my ghost as light-weight as I could and also worked hard to get max tension on the line. You can check out my part 2 for a little more detail, if you want! th-cam.com/video/Ricynnp-rOU/w-d-xo.html
@@scarriehalloween thanks again. Yours is the best flying ghost I have seen, and I have watched about 8 more tutorials since leaving my reply.

Do the bicycles wheels have to be the same exact height? I was wondering if the fishing line would have trouble staying on the wheel if I had about a foot decline from one to the other.
One foot will not be an issue!
Awesome thank you!
How do you keep it facing forward as it travels?
It does spin some, but will correct itself.
