MERICA! FOOK YEA!
@@UNKNOWN_HACKERbruh, be quiet.
England only lasted a few years before the Nouveu Vikings returned in the form of the Normans in 1066. They dislodged the Anglo Saxons forever including their language Old English. Norman French became the official language of England over the next 2 centuries and Englishmen were reduced to serfs on the land they had stolen from the ancient Britons after leaving their original homeland in Jutland in Denmark and Lower Saxony in Germany. They fled due to marauding Huns from Central ASIA. The Vikings and their Norman offsprings are responsible for totally changing the face of England including its language and Laws. Old English based on the dialect of Wessex was banned from public administrative use and replaced by Norman French. Old English died. What later replaced Old English when the ban was lifted was the Anglo-Scandinavian dialect or Anglo-Norse dialect of the descendants of Viking settlers in England. When William the Conquerors seized the throne he moved the capital of England back to London from Winchester in Wessex and that put a nail to the coffin of Wessex and the r prestigious Old English dialect. By the time the ban on English was lifted by the Norman kings the Anglo-Norse dialect spoken in London East Anglia and the East Midlands had become the dominant dialect in the eastern. Half of England and all of the North West and North East including Yorkshire which were predominantly Scandinavian Norwegian or Irish-Norse, or Danish/SwedishNorse in the East Midlands East Yorkshire, East Anglia and London. Their language an Anglo-Norse patois became what is known as Middle English from which modern English is derived. Hence English is identical to the Scandinavian languages on its grammar and syntax and most of the Anglo saxon old English words as we use them today have been Scandinavianised and that includes all our numerals and days of the week. English and Icelandic have retained many Old Norse words that have long disappeared in containental Scandinavian. Today English sits in between Frisian and Danish or Dutch and Danish and often appears as if it is a combination of both languages except with a far clearer pronunciation than either Danish or Dutch. If Wessex dialect had survived to the present English would sit between German and Dutch. Our grammar would closely resemble that of the West Germanic languages but that isn't the case. The switch to a Scandinavian speech pattern was almost totally complete. And it was just a case of which group of dialect speakers happened to be most predominant in London at the time the ban was lifted and it happened to be speakers of Anglo-Norse and it's their language that is in use today as English.
That’s really interesting. Thanks for that 🙏🏾
@@ubedube7767not really. Just pseudo-mumbling of someone with agenda
There's a lot of errors in this, a few examples are the fact in 793 Northumbria streched from North Sea to Irish Sea, and went up to around the Antonine wall, furthermore the Danes (not vikings) didn't invade northern Northumbria, the area that consists of Modern Northumbria, IE, Durham & Northumberland, and Northumbria might have possibly participated in the battle at Brunanburh, against England, in 937, with it even being semi-autonomous (creating her own laws, and taxes) until the invasion of William the Bastard in 1066.
from wessex to twin towers, bro really has no chill💀
Fun fact, king Æthelstan actually had king Harald Fairhair of Norway’s son as a ward.
His name was Håkon and he learnt of English administration and was baptised. Håkon later returned to Norway and reformed the laws after English inspiration making a Norwegian version of the Fyrd (leidang) and was the first king who tried to Christianise Norway.
his gay also
@@susamogus4653 Athelstan wasn’t gay, his sexuality isn’t known. “Historians” are now trying to convince us he was simply because he never married. What we do know about him was that he was an incredibly pious man, even more so than his grandfather. So he may not have married for this reason, that would make more sense to me than presuming his sexuality based on no actual evidence whatsoever.

Cornwall was not included into England upon it's creation as shown in your map and wasn't part of Wessex.
