    The hardest part to believe about the murders is how the hell did those neighbors not hear those six gunshots?

    • @toddkilby8582
      @toddkilby8582 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      That's a good question , but I think I answer is acoustics . Ron shot his family in the month of November . At that time of year I'm sure all windows were closed . The bedrooms themselves would contain some of the blast , and it was around 3 to 3:30 am . People are most likely sleeping at that time. If neighbors were awake at that time and nothing else was on in their homes (tv , radio ) It wouldn't be much more than a soft pop , if that. The reason I know is that I have experience with indoor shooting ranges.

    • @dspencer1969
      @dspencer1969 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Why didn't the residents of the house wake up while all that shooting was going on?

    • @Rob-sk1im
      @Rob-sk1im 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@dspencer1969 I've read that some mental health experts believe that the younger children may have been frozen in fear and that is why they chose not to hide. It's believed that both girls woke up and looked at the shooter prior to being shot.
      It's been further hypothesized that Dawn did wake up after hearing the shots and confronted Ronnie from the third floor stairway and asked him what the noise was and he told her to go back to bed that everything was okay.

    I’m from Scotland & in 2002 my friend from East Rockaway took me to the house & the owner was sweeping the steps, so I asked if I could take a photo & he invited me inside . I stood in the hall inside the door talking to him it was unforgettable. I still can’t believe I had the guts to ask!

      I think they actually did a facade at one of their studios that way to make it look more evil for the movies for some of the exterior shots of the house. Seeing the house IRL, it really looks very little like the movie version, other then the barn style roof and colonial era architecture.

      Glad to oblige! There have been so many misconceptions about the house and area, although short, at least the video gives an insight into its present day state. Since this video was made, I did find out that there are people living here so I do not wish to further intrude on their privacy. Although there are so many conflicting accounts, I hope to one day be able to investigate the residence, haunted or not. It would be an honor to walk through and reminisce the history and legends that have surrounded this house, first-hand.

    Interesting visit driving on the streets to the house. Changing the really cool and eerie "eye" windows and the street address of the house doesn't fool anyone. They should restore the eye windows back to the original look. A shame one of the past owners had did it. I'm sure whenever the house gets resold by new owners they and the neighbors are quite aware of people wanting to film the house, and are used to it by now, despite the looks they give you. Thanks for sharing.

    Want privacy ? Then I wouldn't suggest purchasing the most famous "haunted house" in the world. If you can't beat em, join em! Someone should buy the home, and set up a bed and breakfast. Would make a killing (no pun intended), and would stop all of the delusional friction caused by tourist and the homes host of owners who command privacy. Not happening, be it horror or hoax.

    Thank you for the trip. I appreciate seeing for the first time this famous house in the context of the town and neighborhood where it's located. Maybe seven or eight years ago at work my supervisor and I were the only ones present and he said my name and asked, "...would you live in the Amityville house?" I said I would though the heating bill would be huge. If a house had a tragic or violent history but was in the right location and met my needs and I wanted it for my home, the event or events of the past wouldn't keep me from buying the house. I would have respect for what had happened but I wouldn't let it control me. More realistically than hypothetically, if I lived on the east coast and was looking for a house I wouldn't pick the Ocean Avenue house. It's a beautiful home in a beautiful area and even if I could afford to buy and live in the house it's simply too big for me and I wouldn't be willing to spend what would be needed for utilities, electricity, taxes and maintenance and I'm guessing the house dates back to the 1920's.----I wonder what it's like to live next door or across the street and to be always seeing the house and possibly reminded of the past there over and over. Is the past of this house an invisible but always present neighbor?---I'm intrigued with the Ocean Avenue house and also with the house in which the Clutter family was murdered in 1959, their deaths being the reason for Truman Capote's book "In Cold Blood".---Another Long Island house in which I'm interested is the now famous Grey Gardens mansion in East Hampton.

    That was very interesting, it isn't everyday you get a chance to view a house that has become synonymous with murder, looking at the house in the bright of a lovely sunny evening, it looks like a perfectly normal house, one would expect to see family activity going on, it appears so calm and tranquil, the murders that took place opened the door to the famous Amityville Horror novel, which told of demonic possession and other paranormal occurences, is there any truth in it, I don't think so......it is so easy to be caught up in the sensationalism that the book and film created, and as such the house has become stigmatised, and associated with all things demonic and unholy,
    It is a beautiful house on an equally beautiful drive, and one can only wonder what will eventually become of the house, personally I wouldn't have any issue with living in it, I think Jay Anson and Hollywood have done this fine property a huge disservice, this house should be inhabited with a good family and it's rooms ringing out with laughter, and not left to dwell in it's macabre history.

      The more one looks into paranormal experiences, the more one will find strange things like that( only some people hear/ see things , others don't). As though a dimensional " vortex" opens. If the killer was possessed perhaps whatever was doing that to him also controlled the dimensioal space around him, altering the laws of physics. For example when people hear ghostly voices, how are they hearing those voices without the voices using physical vocal chords?

    i'm quite surprised that this house is still standing today, given its ongoing association with horror on the most authentic level (an entire family murdered) and of course forever made infamous by Hollywood magic. This house could have just as easily been leveled while building an entirely new home on the property; after all, it is the house that holds the story, more so than the land it sits on. Having said that; I am happy the house remains. I believe this house will forever be of the peoples mind and conscientiousness; therefor, if not already, I think this house should be registered and protected as an official New York landmark.

      @lightsparanormal  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Bonnie Magpie Hi Bonnie! Since this video was made, there have been residence living there. We were able to speak to them briefly and they stated that while they do experience odd things happening here and there, for the most part, things are generally quiet. We have a friend that lives a block over from the house who says she also experiences things once in awhile, but nothing serious. Even though the paranormal has become less of a macabre subject to talk about, people are often still reluctant to speak up out of fear of sounding crazy. That is one of the reasons why we try to keep our presence as known as possible. If someone does decide to speak out about their experiences, we want them to know there is someone out there who is willing to help and understand. ☺

    • @BonnieMagpie
      @BonnieMagpie 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LIGHTS Paranormal ; Thanks for your feed back. Mrs Lutz in one of her interviews said she had gone into the house as a practising kind of Spiritualist though I've forgotten exactly what kind, she suggested that the kinds of haunts they experienced were drawn to her and her husband because they were open to it. The Defoe family also; it looks like the elder girl had an interest in witch craft. So maybe The Amytiville house stays motionless with people not so susceptible to all the spooks unless they be stronger types who love it and can keep the entities at bay.

    • @lightsparanormal
      @lightsparanormal  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Bonnie Magpie Kathy Lutz hid a lot of truths about George Lutz and unfortunately took them to her grave, but not before divorcing him first. George Lutz was the only one confirmed to practice the occult (both Satanism and Demonism), before and during their time in the Amityville house. He was an abusive man, just as Ronald DeFeo Sr. was, and an alcoholic. We feel these similarities, in addition to the laws of attraction and the negative imprint left by the murders, are what ultimately caused the Amityville house to "come alive" specifically for the Lutz'. There is a protective Indian presence in the general area, but not an aggressive or dark presence. The land also feels cursed (not just Amityville, but in towns surrounding also), but in all honesty, but feels perpetrated or originated by settlers, not by Indians. There's definitely a very deep rabbit hole of questions, theories, and allegations when it comes to the Amityville house and everything and everyone surrounding both the murders and the Lutz'. For the most part, the only time the house is brought up now is either Halloween or when it is for sale. We do hope to be able to do an investigation there at some point, and hopefully dispel a lot of what the movies and books have sensationalized and distorted about it.

    • @BonnieMagpie
      @BonnieMagpie 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LIGHTS Paranormal ; Didn't know Kathy Lutz died. All the events which took place in the house doesn't seem like Native Indian. As Chief Lame Deer said ' White man made the devil'. Kathy Lutz saw it as demonic ( from her interview ). The Indian can be blameless with this, so nice to know there is that space for them. Hopefully in the future you will carry out the investigation.

      +Bonnie Magpie Kathy passed in 2004 and George in 2006. Their son Daniel has a documentary out that you might find interesting, called "My Amityville Horror". Our belief is there is one being for all things, it is what we choose to be that defines light and dark, and that choice follows us until we change it. Whatever did happen there that has not come to light, was buried in the darkness of their graves.

    If I owned that house, I'd put strobe lights in the top room at night.

    I went to New York last year and decided to go and see the house. No one from my family would go apart from my older nephew so we went and there was nothing scary about the house. The houses there and the area was amazing

    EXCELLENT VIDEO! When seeing the house in its' proper context (in a neighborhood..with houses so close on each side) it really doesn't seem scary at all.

    very good video.Hats off for the respect shown for the family that died on that property.The world should be informed about this kind of thing and I see no problem with that.
    Its more than a power spot or a haunted house.Only ignorant simple minded people would think there is something wrong with peaples curiosity of wanting to see where it all happened.Maybe historical sites worldwide should be off limits then if people are so damn cinical about it.
    I think anyone having a problem with peaples curiosity on this house should seek psychological counseling.
    Obviously there are deep seated issues of denial of reality as an objective whole vs a subjective knee jerk reaction of illiterate awareness.

    Didn't you pass the small shopping mall where Ronald DeFeo fled to, to tell people there there had been killings? you should have shown that too although I understand the store has changed

    • @lightsparanormal
      @lightsparanormal  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Nigel Harrison Yes I did pass the old shipping center, but unfortunately all of the stores have changed since then and the pub is no longer there. It would've been great if it was still there to get a feel of what he saw that night! 😃
