- I was trying to make a catch and cook video with this Lingcod. It's been on my list for months! I absolutely LOVE catching rockfish and lingcod from shore with a swimbait. Nothing more satisfying than throwing a piece of plastic and getting one of these bad boys to hit it. The hikes and climbs often involved in getting to the spots where they can be found is another element that adds to the excitement! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel. I'm determined to catch a legal sized Ling in two days and post the video within 2 weeks! Stay tuned!

Just thought about the ending for a second. You literally left your tripod at the bottom to record yourself walking back up, just so you can immediately come back down to pick it up after. Haha good stuff

You put out some great videos. Just a suggestion from a Southern California rock rambler like yourself, I tend to use weedless lead heads. Like warbaits, and big hammer ones with the weed guards. Keep the videos going brother. Good stuff.

San franciscan here, just wondering why there are no shops in the bay area that sell 13+ FT rods? Also what are your thoughts on those 13-14ft rods because I feel like they might be great for fishing on shore.
I've had a 14ft rod before...best use I got out of it was washing my 2nd story windows. It's just too heavy and bulk to lug around. I think a good 11 foot rod is more than good enough for surf fishing for stripers or something and most tackle shops sell 12ft rods too if you want to go a little bigger. If you're totally determined to get that 13 or 14 footer I think Rusty Hook in Pacifica sells some like that if I remember right. But yeah, something like a Daiwa Coastal SP in 10 ft 6 in or 11 should be good for most if not all plugging and shore fishing

on the last scene, u just put your Go pro to Get the "picture of u Climb up those Rocky littlr hill....and when its done, in order to get your Go pro back, u must Walk down all over again...and once u get The Go pro back, finally u have to Climb up again....😄✌✌✌✌. now thats what i call "Dedication"

lol the opening of the video. f it i'm fishing. don't smell me. i caught two lings when i did a charter trip out of oxnard cali on the pacific islander on a overnight for rockfish. one got off the circle hook right before i was about to swing him on the boat. the second one though i landed and ate. mine weren't green muscle though but a couple on the trip got those colored ones. nice vid andfish man

Still have never managed to catch ling or cab, mostly because my fishing is limited to OB, China, and Baker-- but I feel like you could pull on in around Land's End or maybe even near Sutro? What do you think?

Hahaha. Yep. I'm trying tomorrow with it. But yeah man, I've heard people catch ling's off Baker closest to the gg bridge. Also caught many rockfish and cabezon at ditto baths through the tunnel. Give it a shot. You have to hope the rusted hip level gate though and careful on the rocks! If you search "eating a fish's beating heart" of my videos you'll see the spot ;)
hey thought id ask since uve caught a couple lingcod have u ever caught a orange 1 we got our first 1 last summer and usually the 1s we catch are blue or normal color.
I've only caught the blue ones and brown ones...Are those the orange you mean? Never caught a bright orange one

I'm going on my first ocean fishing trip next week and I was wondering how do you know the laws on what fish you can keep
Just have to research. If you know what type of fish you're targeting or likely to catch, then you should search for the limits and size limits and other regulations for that species. Any tackle shop, big 5, bass pro should have the up to date fishing regulation booklet too. If you're new to fishing you should have that or search online before you go
