Kybele was a Phrygian goddess. Phrygian was not Greek. The Amazons were Scythians...an Iranic people...the names of their captured leaders are written in the Behistun inscription. The Trojans were Caryans and their allies were from the Anatolian populations as given by the Iliad but also by letters from the Hittites to the people of Troy. These letters are in Hittite in cuneiform script. Inscriptions in Lydian, Phrygian and Lycian exist and are in these languages that are indoeuropean...archeological finds show clearly the existence of these Anatolian populations. The Thracians related to them came to help the Trojans as written in the Iliad. Samothracian is still being deciphered at the Athens School for the classics since 1994(??). This language was compared for vocalic frequency to Anatolian languages..Not all people who lived in Anatolia were of Greek descent.

@@sophiapapadopoyloy1050 1.Phrygians come from the Strymon River Valley and Greek sources say they were a Thracian tribe. 2. Their religion was based on the worship of Kybele or Kubaba and Attis, neither of which were Greek gods. 3. The ruins of the Phrygian kingdom still bear inscriptions in the Phrygian alphabet...still there in Afyon Karahisar. It looks like in Greece at high school level there is not much taught about the indo-european populations of Anatolia. Lydian and Lykian and Carian also have their own scripts....currently the Thracian inscriptions found in Samothrace are researched at the Athens School for the Classics. Thracian has received special attention and comparative studies for vocalic frequency are under way.

@@sophiapapadopoyloy1050 The Anatolian peoples were related to the Hittites whose language was also indo-european, its grammar and words are available on the internet. The Greeks came later to Anatolia and formed only colonies. Anatolians such as Lydians, Phrygians, Carians, Lycians and Lelegs had their own languages, religions and architecture all of which can be seen today at the various museums in Turkey. Anatolia was never a millennial homeland of the Greeks, as Tomis and Calatis the soil of Thrace were never a Hellenic homeland, but just colonies!

@@sophiapapadopoyloy1050 Dorian, Ionian and Aeolian are Greek dialects and the differences in pronunciation from Attic Greek are well known. However, Phrygians, Lycians, Lydians, Carians and Lelegs were not Hellenes. None of them! Phrygian has its own alphabet without any Hellenic archaic shapes...the Byzantine Empire ruled over Anatolians and Greeks who used Greek as a language because most of the trade in the Mediterranean area was using this language. There are bilingual inscriptions in Greek and the Anatolian languages. Some linguists contend that Phrygian was close to Greek. Let them prove it!! They need a lot of good luck...the different religion of the Phrygians says a lot against that!!
