Yeah, Hussie kind of made Nepeta to mock the idea, that "Awww, cats are so cute and cuddly" and introduced her as one, but then revealed that she kills animals and eats their flesh. I loved that.
It's now 2018. It's been over a year now since HS officially ended.. I still come back to watch this, and it's still one of my favorite HS animations/videos in existence. Almost makes you want to re-read the entire thing.

This gave me the impression that Homestuck was a completely different story. The trolls(I didn't know what they were) were actually some group or gang of professionals that each have a signature weapon they would take on missions, and the sign was their calling card. Fefri was melee with the trident, Eriden was heavy weapons with a specialty in cannons, Gamzee was the wild card, Equius was an expert boxer (and the sweat was just to emphasize that, not that it was part of his personality), Vriska had dice that shot beams at people like bombs, Terezi was a master of deception and espionage who kept swords in her cane(a normal cane, not a seeing cane), Kanaya was a femme fatale that would massacre her victims, Nepeta would stealth in and tear things up with her claws, Sollux was a power house, I didn't know much about Tavros and Aradia, and Karkat was the main character who we see grow into his spot on the team (before I thought Sollux was the main character too) The kids were a different group under the same group/agency/umbrella. A different class of power. John would calmly and happily destroy enemies with a massive hammer with a smile, and his windy power was a finisher move of some kind. Rose has Lightning powers, and I didn't know the the grimdark version was ment to be a different version, and assumed it was an arts type change. Jade and Dave went by too fast for me to get an idea, but assumed they were in a relationship. The beta kids I assumed would be a second season of sorts, and their big bad evil guy was Lord English Then the whole midnight crew section was ment to be for the main villain group of the comic, with Snowman being the rule 34 bait. Lastly I assumed the guardians were the leaders of the first group, and were showing off some of their personality. They gave an air of authority. But basically, Dad did a cool thing with cake at some point. Mom drinks wine but in a classy way. Bro was the trainer for everyone in the first generation. Then Andrew at the end was ment to be a background character that we think is unimportant but kinda goofy, but really has a bigger role in the story than we think. That's what I though Homestuck was based on this video
2019 is almost over, homestuck is over 10 years old now, we thought it was over but now we have hiveswap, friendsim, pesterquest, hiveswap 2 coming out soon, and now we have the epilogues and HOMESTUCK 2, and ofc it is 3am and im watching this while drawing dave

i had a gathering with my bff and someone we were dragging into the fandom late last year. i know we're still spreading this shit. i played this video in sync on all the available devices in the room it was great.
I think that it's similar to the part where Reader has to switch to Homestuck: Disc 2, and Doc Scratch said that he would fix it. This is followed by Hussie killing Doc Scratch with his broom, taking the disc, and reinserting it. It's at the end of Act 5 Act 2, and right after the story of the Ancestors is told.
I know a weird thing to see, but whenever it switches from Karket to John...all I can see is Markiplier's face for that brief second where he seems to be laughing.
I love how you didn't include black lines separating colors, much like the comic. And at the end you show the four guardians. Dad, Mom, Bro, and Grandpa Harley. The fact that you didn't actually show poppop, like, actually holding the gun, and only the crosshairs of the gun was really cool! Kepp up the good work, I love your animtions!!
oh my god, this is THAT old now?? i remember when this first dropped..... legitimately lifechanging. I've always been incredibly impressed by the kanaya/nepeta parts and how rose's magic turns into jade's hair.
i really, really, really love this video. its just... incredibly impressive. the animation is smooth, and the composition is really good, and the transitions are prolly my favorite part. i also love love love it when the animation syncs up with the music.. good good stim. also, the way that everyone is just a silhouette with markers to indicate its them (ie, their signs) is just.. really good to me. makes it look very stylized, which i enjoy. i may be late to homestuck and late to this video but.. i still love this a lot. youre extremely skilled and im going to check out your newer stuff to see how youve improved over the years, because i have no doubt youre an even more phenomenal artist/animator now

It took until my thousandth time watching this to realize that it zooms into one of Dave's Timetables which becomes the Beat Mesa when going to the Alpha kids section, mirroring the Scratch. Just a little thing I noticed for the first time, absolutely adore this animation still.

Hey guys did you realize that when Grandpa Harley's rifle was pointing to a butterfly? And according to some facts or theories, butterflies can make a "butterfly effect" which can make bad things happen. So when that butterfly showed up there, the video ends XD which is bad.
another way to look at it is that when the kids and trolls played the game, everything starts to lead down to a bad series of events, such as jack noir, the game causing the end of the world, lord english, etc.
The butterfly effect is also a way to describe how even the smallest decisions can impact the timeline immensely, such as when john puches vriska before terezi can kill her creating an entirely different timeline.
to this day i haven't seen an animation that understands & executes on momentum > payoff this well. amazed not only that this has held up so well, but also that it's never been meaningfully challenged imo! timeless piece, love revisiting this over a decade later :)

So I've discovered Homestuck when I was 13 myself. And alongside this comic I've discovered this here-my first ever animation from HS fandom. And I instantly fell in love with it. Once I clicked "play" there was no way I listened to this just once. And when it comes to the comic itself-I did not understand it at all. I tried coming back to it over the years but I was just too...weirded out by all that was happening with the story and it's characters, I guess. Today I'm 23 and I just started act 4. And this time I KNOW I'll finish this whole goddamn masterpiece that this comic is. And I'm writing it all here simply bc I felt incredibly nostalgic, because this animation, together with other fanmade stuff, just drew me to this fandom, even tho way back when I was just too dumb to fully grasp what was happening in the comic. Now I do. And listening to this song today, seeing this beautiful animation, after finishing act 3...man it's just...Idunno. It's amazing and it's beautiful and after watching this animation now (repeatedly, may I add) I'm even more glad that I started this comic again. That I gave it a chance after all those years and all those attempts. Homestuck's been over for long now and I'm old as hell myself, compared to when I "started" reading it, but I'm ready and hyped non the less for all that it has to offer lol. So yeah....I'm just rambling like crazy but what I'm trying to say is I'm glad I've discovered this comic, this fandom and it's content. And I'm glad I did not gave up on reading Homestuck bc I know now that I would loose just so, soo much. So I guess Homestuck really is weird and random, but it has the greatest and incredibly talented fandom

man i forgot how cool this was... i fawned over the animation so much as a kid, i think i specifically rly liked nepetas part? my personal favorite now at least is the credits and the like "back and forth" on jade and daves parts or rly just all of it lmao its very fun and has a special place in my heart :)
I’m so happy I’m still getting this recommended to me in 2024. I watched this like 6-7 years ago. And it’s still such a cool animation. Like I strive to be this good at animation and since then I’ve been trying hard to practice. Love Homestuck.

Hey guys did you realize that when Grandpa Harley's rifle was pointing to a butterfly? And according to some facts or theories, butterflies can make a "butterfly effect" which can make bad things happen.
So when that butterfly showed up there, the video ends XD which is bad.
another way to look at it is that when the kids and trolls played the game, everything starts to lead down to a bad series of events, such as jack noir, the game causing the end of the world, lord english, etc.
The butterfly effect is also a way to describe how even the smallest decisions can impact the timeline immensely, such as when john puches vriska before terezi can kill her creating an entirely different timeline.

THE MASTERPIECE RETURNS
So I've discovered Homestuck when I was 13 myself. And alongside this comic I've discovered this here-my first ever animation from HS fandom. And I instantly fell in love with it. Once I clicked "play" there was no way I listened to this just once. And when it comes to the comic itself-I did not understand it at all. I tried coming back to it over the years but I was just too...weirded out by all that was happening with the story and it's characters, I guess. Today I'm 23 and I just started act 4. And this time I KNOW I'll finish this whole goddamn masterpiece that this comic is. And I'm writing it all here simply bc I felt incredibly nostalgic, because this animation, together with other fanmade stuff, just drew me to this fandom, even tho way back when I was just too dumb to fully grasp what was happening in the comic. Now I do. And listening to this song today, seeing this beautiful animation, after finishing act 3...man it's just...Idunno. It's amazing and it's beautiful and after watching this animation now (repeatedly, may I add) I'm even more glad that I started this comic again. That I gave it a chance after all those years and all those attempts. Homestuck's been over for long now and I'm old as hell myself, compared to when I "started" reading it, but I'm ready and hyped non the less for all that it has to offer lol. So yeah....I'm just rambling like crazy but what I'm trying to say is I'm glad I've discovered this comic, this fandom and it's content. And I'm glad I did not gave up on reading Homestuck bc I know now that I would loose just so, soo much. So I guess Homestuck really is weird and random, but it has the greatest and incredibly talented fandom
