I use quilting software frequently for my projects.. I either print on freezer paper for some projects OR others, rubber cement the paper shape to the template plastic. Works great!
I haven't quilted in at least 25 years and am getting ready to make a sampler quilt. As I'm watching you trace and cut pieces of fabric, it looks like you're only cutting a single layer of fabric. I don't recall how I did it so many years ago, but was thinking I must have cut more than a single layer of fabric at a time(?). Please know I welcome any help/advice you have to offer : )

I use masking tape to keep steady the template plastic while I trace.
