Has she? The winner of Drag Race isn't necessarily the most successful queen. Shangela never won in three seasons and one special, but is still considerably more successful than most finalists and even some of the actual winners.

I HATED the elimination process, and I HATED how Rolaskatox teamed up AGAIN and sent queens who deserved to be there home!
Annie Rose had I been on all stars 2 roxxy would went home on the 4th time in the bottom 🤷🏻♂️, and Mabye Alaska cuz even tho she killed it how she acted in the bottom was ridiculous

@@JumeckRafeal the "be yourself" in reality speak is "spell out your trauma" because drama makes viewers super-engaged/obsessed. But tbh also because of the (positive) message the show tries to convey to the public.
Dela refused to spell it out so wasn't a judges favourite in S6. In AllStars she was constantly visibly emotional so that was a good drama, and show of "self", that made her loved by production.

She’s iconic for how she left, and tbh winning does not even matter anymore in terms of long term success. Drag race has turned from a competitive show to a reality show at this point.
I think Drag Race has ALWAYS been as much about the reality and the cattiness as the competition. Back in Season 2 and 3 you couldn't go two scenes without a fight of some sort. Reality TV, even in competition formats, almost always has some amount of drama because drama is considered entertaining. Shangela was dumping drinks over people in Season 3, and people were referred to as boogers, that drama was played up then as it would be now.
I appreciate what Dela did, I was upset because I wanted to see another obvious winner receive a crown but I could see that she needed to do what she did for herself but what she did was absolutely reality TV gold as she said, which is why noone tried to stop her OR told the judges.

I really respect De la’s decisions she slayed so much. In terms of compromising her beliefs I feel like I get what she is saying. For as long as tv has been around media only shows the catty side of our gay community and I feel that is the part where de la felt that guilt from with the whole elimination process bc the queens do get triggered and it sucks but again it’s the game but all the catty-ness comes from the elimination process on All stars
I think she’s fully aware that the catty ness and drama comes from the eliminations. That’s just not why she went on drag race in the first place. She went on to show her best self and really prove her own worth here. I’m very similar to her in a competition sense, because it’s not about the other competitors. People who are like minded couldn’t give half a damn about how well or bad the other competitors are doing because the only variable you have control over is yourself, and if you waste your time and focus on what someone else is doing, you take away time and focus to perform your best/be your best. Get what I mean? Plus she has an amazing sense of self-awareness and humility to her. She probably felt that it really wasn’t her place to be making those decisions. Yea I know that’s the name of the game, but what happens when you’re not playing the game for the same reasons as everyone else? She didn’t come back to the show to win a crown and title that say she’s the best of the best, because she already had that validation and sense of self worth going into it. She said it in the interview, she only wanted to show that she was really good at things

My god. I love DeLa. Seen her so many times and met her twice, both times she was the realest, nicest, most genuine person ever. Her shows are so refined and thought-provoking, and when we met her she actually took the time to make us comfortable and make what could have been a very brief encounter feel very personal and special. A true legend.

I totally agree with her about the elimination format but I think we have to seperate All Stars from the normal show. All Stars is a game and normal drag race is a competition.

I work in production. Honestly, it can be hectic and information doesnt always get communicated properly. Theres a strong possibility that Dela's decision wasnt passed along to the higher ups.
Directors actually dont make a lot of the decisions in television so they might have assumed it was part of a last minute storyline that the producers came up with.
If they knew, Ru would have been told and there wouldnt have been chaos. However, they probably realized it was T.V gold and let it stand, rather than reshooting it.
They should’ve changed the elimination format immediately after this season, AS4 would’ve gone so differently.

DeLa is a STAGE performer. She hardly vanished. In fact, I've seen her 3 times on stage since her iconic departure and have tix for another show with Jinkx in December. I implore you to check her schedule and seek her out. Some of the most gag worthy shows I've ever seen.

Prince Paris she’s being doing her own sorta theatre productions in Seattle as far as I know, she may have toured away with plays but she’s mostly a theatre queen and she stays in that zone

And the focus doesn’t become on the amazing work that the queens actually accomplish on their run it turns toxic very quickly and then the social media fandom chimes in once it airs and makes it it more difficult for the queens going through it! No one Knows what that’s like other than the queens competed.
Anyways Ben worked so hard and broke all those records!! At the end of the day it should be made to honour their talents and not enhance their ego (tv producers) with drama , insecurities , anger, suspicion etc.

Ethel Bradley I agree. I think it’s unfair because some queens who deserve to be there get sent home early. The eliminated queens picking the top two in AS3 was also ridiculous.

Desi agree!!! It’s kind of unfair how every all stars season they have some new bullshit method to introduce to the queens that have to bite their tongue. Also this whole drag queen drama shady shit is so old and lame it’s like drag queens are SO much More than that. A part of our lgbtqia+ community with love and creativity and been through a lot In life to where they are now. I always took her self elimination as a good business move. She was completely unnerved by Morgan’s reaction to being eliminated and was afraid of fan backlash (fans of other queens).... so she brought Morgan back and eliminated herself. She didn’t want to be the villain for sending home a fan favorite like Trixie or Shangela.

To me she showed that even when people only give you limited decisions, you aren't limited by them and always, always, even when it doesn't seem like it, there is another path.
This other path may be disapproved by others, people may think you're crazy, but it's your life and there's absolutely no reason to limit yourself by others' boxes.
Dela is iconic and a true queen. I was sad she sent herself home at the time but she went out on her own terms and didn't compromise herself for the drama.

People who are competitive may never understand how exhausting it is being competitive when you're not. Personally I don't have any interest in competitions, it doesn't drive me. What drives me is doing things people say I can't do and proving things to myself not other people. I don't want to be better than anyone, I want to be better than who I was yesterday. So I understand why Dela did what she did and why she was sick and tired of having to eliminate people and deal with drama every day.
