What kind of people would have given a thumbs down to this tune by the greatest Country group of all time? Great, humbling, reflective tune. May all those who served in WWII RIP.
This is probably my favorite statler bros songs. Silver medals and sweet memories. I have my grandfather's and my father's flags on a table in by our patio door.
Thank You to all served in all wars. had a brother who went to Nam, came home ok, had a classmate who didn't. and to my late uncle who was a WW2 Ranger
I miss you Harold Reid one of the best country singers in the world rest in peace buddy see you when you get there and then we'll be country all together once again Tammy you George
Thank you for this beautiful song. It reminds me of my late Father who was a WW2 Marine and my late Father in law who was a Korean War Marine Corps veteran as well. 🇺🇸
My father served in WWll. He was seriously wounded in France not long after the D-Day invasion. Fortunately, he returned to Mom and my sisters and I came to be.
Thanks Statler Brothers for Silver Medals & Sweet Memories. Is a very beautiful song. Your group is one of my favorite groups. Yours was my Mothers favorite.
Hi Jacob enjoyed the video. Nice to see different parts of Vegas. Thank you for doing the video. I hope whoever buys the trailers motel they may consider restoring it would think if They could keep most of original part yet update plumbing and rooms they would be successful with the retro crowd .i"am soon moving to Pahrump but do want to see and play at local casinos. I used to visit Vegas at least twice a year but been a long time and been soany changes. We used to stay at the imperial palace always had nice stay and liked it was middle strip. Because was close to everything. Now that I will be moving to Pahrump. Want to try the locals and one for sure is the el Cortez. Also liked Sam's town so that is another. I always like your information on Vegas also your videos. Please keep up the good work. Thanks again David gleason now in San diego but soon Pahrump
I have a dear friend who was a green beret in Vietnam and he saw some rough times over there. He's a Christian now and he'd be the first to call for forgiveness for Fonda and all the others who turned their backs on him.
Jane Fonda was right. Every soldier who died in Vietnam was the victim of a the American imperialist war machine. They're not heroes because their lifes were lost to a false cause. The real heroes actually won the war.
I agree Jane Fonda was a disgrace. I was ashamed of being a woman back then. My Uncle still suffers nightmares and that orange dust. Thank you to everyone who ever served and protected our rights and freedom. God Bless you all.
gatewaysolo104, I do too! I did a search for this song and I was lucky enough that my search listed the song with Jimmy Fortune and also with Lew so I was able to hear the same song by each of them back to back which I don't think I had ever done before. I love Jimmy Fortune but Lew's voice has something in it that is haunting or some quality that is hard to explain. Maybe it's the vibrato in Lew's voice that gives it a richness that is missing in Jimmy's voice. Lew was such a great singer. And this is just another great song by the Statler's! I have the Dickens of a time trying to come up with the name of my "favorite" Statler song. Maybe "Flowers on the Wall" because that's the first one I heard of them. But wait a minute, I also love "I'll go to my Grave Loving You" and "Maple Street Memories" so maybe one of those is my favorite. But then I also love "How are things in Clay, Kentucky" and "Elizabeth" and "Class of '57" and I can't forget "The Wall". See? It's impossible for me to pick my favorite. I was EXTREMELY lucky and got to go see them when they appeared in a little town sort of mid-way between Nashville and Chattanooga about 20 years ago. That was a performance I will never forget!
This is one, and as of now, the sole, song i prefer sung by Lew, normally i'm not fond of the, not shaky, but more errattic note hikes, Jimmy seems a bit more mellow, great and powerful, but on this song, Lew puts a bit more into it than Jimmy. As for favourite song, has to go to 'More than a name on a wall".
I think they should have taken Jane Fonda all her movies and ask her to leave the state she was a disgrace to her father she's a disgrace to this nation
I'm so glad the Statler Brothers retired when they were still at the top of their game. They didn't allow the fans to see them morph into senile old codgers with loose dentures and bad hair dye jobs. It's a shame the Oaks didn't follow suit.
I can relate to this song, we got our folded Flag Jan 24th 1969
But for the grace of God my mother would have gotten her flag on March 16th 1971.
What kind of people would have given a thumbs down to this tune by the greatest Country group of all time? Great, humbling, reflective tune. May all those who served in WWII RIP.
Amen
Anarchists, buffoons and Democrats.
Someone who never received a folded flag.

+Al Rothe My father did also. We are some of the fortunate ones. I thank your father for his service............
Dad served on an LST in the Pacific. He made it home. Never talked about the war except to say they called their ship a Large Slow Target.

Love Don's shoes!
I am grateful for all the music and memories the Statler Brothers have given me. RIP
Harold is gone, but Phil, Jimmy and Don are still with us.
The opposite perspective of "More Than A Name On The Wall," but still just as meaningful.
My father served in WWll. He was seriously wounded in France not long after the D-Day invasion. Fortunately, he returned to Mom and my sisters and I came to be.
My father and three uncles were in ww11. One uncle was buried there in France.
I thank them and all who served. These guys are my favorite group.
My dad fought in the pacific theater. He had 2 purple hearts. He died in 1983.
A beautiful song and true for so many.

The Greatest American Poets
Excellent Groupe , De très belles voix !!!!!!!!!
I have a dear friend who was a green beret in Vietnam and he saw some rough times over there. He's a Christian now and he'd be the first to call for forgiveness for Fonda and all the others who turned their backs on him.
I sang this song when I was in the Army.
Remember Viet Nam and the way our soldiers were treated these heroes. I do and I still have not forgotten Jane Fonda and what she did.
+Darrell Burnham Neither have I and believe me I think about it often...............
Very proud of my brother, Ted Davis, he served in Nam, he did come home, alive, wounded, but alive.
Hanoi Jane, disgusting creature.
She's still doing it!
Jane Fonda was right. Every soldier who died in Vietnam was the victim of a the American imperialist war machine. They're not heroes because their lifes were lost to a false cause. The real heroes actually won the war.

If you were ever handed a flag folded 3 corner you would never unfold it!!
What's it mean to be handed a flag like that?
I agree Jane Fonda was a disgrace. I was ashamed of being a woman back then. My Uncle still suffers nightmares and that orange dust. Thank you to everyone who ever served and protected our rights and freedom. God Bless you all.
@@sarahrybak1920 A loved one who was in the service has passed. Mom got one when my Dad passed.

1978, I think.
i like the version with lew in it.
Ditto. Jimmy wasn't bad, but he just didn't have the charming voice Lew DeWitt(?) had. God Bless his soul. Joe Engman

Any particular reason Jimmy didn’t play the guitar as often as Lew?
I think they should have taken Jane Fonda all her movies and ask her to leave the state she was a disgrace to her father she's a disgrace to this nation
G** Damn HANOI JANE FONDA!!!!

Hi
I think Jane Fonda should be driven out of the United States or movie should be bird she's a disgrace to this nation and disgrace to her father
