Hi, thanks for taking us along in your journey! I'm sorry if I missed it, but what month did u do ur hike? Any info you have about doing it in August would be great as that it's the month I'm thinking of doing it.
Hello! I'm glad you liked the video! We hiked the Kumano Kodo at the very beginning of October, so I don't know much about hiking in August. I think it might be hotter and rain more in August? The one time it rained overnight on our hike, the trail was quite slick in certain spots the next morning, especially for the descents. So definitely some boots with good traction and hiking poles would be a good idea!
Hi guys, I really enjoyed your video! Both of them on the trail in Japan. I’m planning a Japan trip soon and wondered if you saw any camp sites along the trail? Would you say it’s ok to stop somewhere along the trail to camp ⛺️ for the night? Thank you in advance for any insight.
Hello! Free camping isn't allowed-along the Nakahechi route, at least-but we did see some people hiking who looked like they were carrying everything for camping, and I believe our accommodations in Koguchi had camping available! There is a nice article on the Tanabe Tourism website I found about camping that shares info about available campgrounds along the Nakahechi route that could be helpful if that's the route you plan to take: www.tb-kumano.jp/en/2023/08/28/11578/ Hopefully that's a good starting point for you at least! I hope you have fun planning your Kumano Kodo!
This was a very helpful video. Thank you for putting it together and sharing.
熊野古道散策お疲れさまでした。自然を満喫できたみたいで、何よりでした!!素晴らしい日本を感じてくれて有難う!!
KUMANO KODO led you to another world.
Hi Liz, such a great couple of videos on the Kumano Kodo. Thanks for sharing. Can you tell me what time of the year you did this? Thanks.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed them! We were there the first week of October.

Hi Liz, thanks for sharing your hike. Great video! What app did you use to capture the data map of the hike.
Hello! I have a Garmin Forerunner 245 that syncs up with the Garmin Connect app.

Hi Liz, very nice video, may i know how many hours your took from Koguchi to Nachisan?
Thank you! It took us about 6.5 hours, with an average pace of about 39 minutes per mile.
Did you pre book all your accommodations?
Hello! We did prebook all accommodation, which is what is recommended and considered polite to do on the Kumano Kodo.
Did you book your own accomodations or use a website?
Hello! We booked our accommodations through the Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau/Kumano Travel website.
