I have been watching bonsai videos for several years but only just found your channel! I am looking forward to catching up on your videos. I always loved your books way before the days of utube channels.
i@@danbarton1019 I live in Hokkaido, so winter protection is a challenge, ( 5 feet of snow in the garden) I heel my trees in, pot and all and built slatted wooden teepees over the trees. The snow on the ground insulates the roots and the teepees keep the weight of the snow off the branches. I know you love a Haiku, so here is one for you: Deep under the snow, The life filled buds are sleeping, How they burst in Spring!
Thanks for your kind comments - because I'm finding it difficult to lift my trees (I'm 83) , I've had to sell most of them so don't have many left to talk about.
@@danbarton1019 Thank you Dan I would love to of seen a demo but I understand. I saw a demo once when you was with John naka it was wonderful but that was back in the 1990.
Dan ..newbe here on the east coast of Massachusetts. Zone 6 ? Where are you ? Every winter we get a cold snap of probably 2 weeks of 20 degree weather . I fear shallow potted trees turning into a block of ice . Thank you in advance.

This is much better than simply ‘leafing’ them alone
Loved this video Dan! Hope to see more of your trees and your trees in your ceramics!
Thanks - I don't have many trees left as I'm finding them too heavy to lift.
Dan Barton good luck New Year.
Very timely Dan. As always expert knowledge well delivered. Thanks for taking time to do this.
