Justin, you are building a treasure for SCCM Admins. I dont have words now to thank you enough for your extraordinary efforts. Best part is that you dont leave any room for questions. Simply amazing! O yes, I cleared 70-703 recently and your videos really helped me to achieve that goal. Will wait for next video now, sorry for being selfish :)
Really Justin you are Amazing person, before watching your videos about CMG,Sccm server upgrade and this one for backup ,I was always feeling fear for understanding these topics but now after watched related all videos my confidance level reached in high level.Thank You so much Justin.

@@PatchMyPC thanks for your response. We are changing the hardware and drives details in the newer machine..in that case backup and restore method won't work right.please let me know on this.
Justin, in the Site server and Data recovery option, when recovering a standalone primary site is it possible to use Recover site server using an existing backup (browsing to my backup) then Recover primary site (left blank). Because in your case you did chose to "Reinstall site server" then left the Recover Primary site blank.
If only performing a site recovery from an existing backup (No Reinstallation of site server, no DB Recovery), is there any changes that needs to occur for the clients?
Hi Justin - thanks for this guide. Amazing! Can I ask, is it possible to use this method when going from one CB version on Win 2012, to the latest CB version on a new server with Win2019? Would I need to use the same hostname and replicate all the drives? Our SCCM Server is our WSUS server and SQL is on a seperate box. Thank you!!
You would need to backup and restore to the same ConfigMgr build. I think the best approach would be to get the the latest CB build before doing the backup and restore to a new host if you choose that method.
Hi Justin I have a query. In my infra I have a cas and a child primary site.If I run backup on cas will backup of primary also get covered or the same needs to be done seprately.
Hi, I Just have few question. 1. I can see that you recover site onto new OS, I though when you recover site it has to be same as the old system e.g. SQL, OS and drive must be same 2. Can you change site code with site recovery? 3. Do you have to have same hostname and Ip address for the recovery server

Hi ,My server was hit by ransomware attack and I only have the CM SQL database file backup , nothing else , can i restore the whole server and gather the missing Wim files etc?
Hello Justin. Now that’s public service 🙂 In my case, I’m going to migrate to a more recent OS and from SQL 2012 to SQL 2019. In the video, which dates back to 2018, you mentioned that you were migrating WSUS to a more recent database, which worked, but which did not was recommended or not documented by Microsoft. Is this premise still true at the moment? If so, tell me if this is the right procedure to migrate WSUS: 1. before the backup, uninstall the “software update point” role; 2. do not recover the SUSDB database because when creating the service a new one will be created; 3. do not copy/restore the “X:\WSUS” folder; 4. after everything is restored, install the “software update point” role again and force synchronization. Is this it or do you have any other advice? Thanks
Hi Justin, I have a single instant primary site with a remote SQL Server. Can I use either backup-restore or migrate in-console to move to a new DC? I was thinking to just restore SQL DBs and connect to a newly installed server with 1 x primary , 1 x secondary sites?
Lol, never heard it before, where did you get it from or is it common where you are? It's definitely easier than saying 'backslash backslash' or even 'double backslash'!

I believe that should be fine. I'd double check the MS docs for the scenario.

1. No it can be different for a site recovery.
2. No
3. Yes
Do you need to reapply the full permissions for the computer account to the “System Management” container in ADSIEdit?
Probably not, unless you deleted the object before rejoining the new machine with the same name.
@@PatchMyPC if you delete the computer object instead of a reset, wouldn’t those original permissions on the System Management container show up an unknown with the SID like when see permission from a deleted user?
will it be the same procedure if migrating the primary site server ONLY? the DB is residing in a separate server, different from the site server.
Yeah, it should be similar. You would just run the restore on the new site server with the same hostname as the old.
