The problem is just that it’s so outdated and the space it has to work with is minimal. I hope whatever ride replaces it manages to do something creative without being too screen-heavy at the very least.

I agree I love to watch shrek 1-4 because all of the movies are great comedy it would be cool if they made Shrek 5 and 6. it would be cool they bring back Lord Farquaad and prince charming in shrek 5 or 6. Also it would awesome if they did the same battle scene like in avengers infinity war and endgame.
I feel that going all in on Minions would be an... unwise maneuver. Consider the location: Shrek 4-D is _right_ at the front of the park. It's one of the first things you'll see as a typical guest going that way. As popular as the Minions are/were, I don't think making a swarm of Minions the absolute first thing you're going to see as you enter would be the right call. A good chunk of people, including myself (so I'll admit, I'm a touch biased here), really don't like them. Having a bunch of the things just there as you enter... isn't what they'd be looking for. If they put up any permanent Minion props, like what they have in the other parks, it just wouldn't work. They'd also be slapped with an issue they're already having with Simpsons and Kidzone - you really can't put a proper scare zone in such cartoony environments without taking some liberties, except it's at the most vital location: the entrance. We wouldn't be able to get something like this year's entry gate again if they did that. (Though, if it was more "coincidentally located attractions," rather than a full mini-land, they could maybe get away with it) Back to the actual replacement ideas, I don't expect anything big - if they put anything of significant note there, it's going to flood those walking paths even more than usual. It'll probably be something a bit more on the down-low, though the "what" is still quite uncertain. There's not a lot you could really do with the space. It's land-locked, so no expansion, and it's not that big. I genuinely don't know what they'll go with.

Honestly I'd love to see them give an older property the 4-D treatment (Jaws, Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice come to mind as options). Or maybe do something with Wicked now that that film is actually getting made.
If they were able to incorporate the sponge on store they already had… if you think about it it would be fairly easy for them to re-theme kids zone into bikini bottom from spongebob. Maybe they should replace DreamWorks animation and turn that into the queue of Shrek 4-d haha, honestly I don't see that happen, but it would be kind of amazing.
I’d want to see a new ride in the vein of the Harry Potter Hogwarts ride, Spider-Man, and Transformers. Those 3 are great Screen rides that take advantage of the moving dark ride idea.
The problem with USO is that when you walk in, it doesn't immediately blow you away. There is the studio store immediately to your left which just looks like a big box and the today cafe to your right and that's it. Past the street is Hello Kitty store but it's stuck in the far right corner away from the eye and so most people miss it and instead continue to walk forward because the only thing drawing the crowds that way is the New York skyline. Once you pass the studio store to your left is the first real piece of eye candy, that's minions. To your right is Shrek 4-D but it doesn't look that exciting and the only reason you notice it isn't because of the signage or the billboard, but because of the cast members in their Shrek-inspired outfits. The entire entry for USO needs a massive redesign. I mean, look at the differences between the Universal Store inside the park compared to the one in Citywalk. The one in Citywalk stands out, feels alive and fresh, the one in Studios feels old and outdated. If they wanted to make the front better, they need to theme it to something and a mix of Illumination and Dreamwork properties would be awesome as it would be bright and alive. Even if all they did were just put up fake facades like they have at IoA, it would make it feel more than just the lifeless place that it is right now.
I feel what they should do is reroute the entrance so that you're walking right into Hollywood instead of production central. I feel that section would make the better Main Street.

I really like the Villain-Con idea. It would give a lot of opportunities for the ride makers to get creative and give you something new to find every time you ride
I really think Universal are missing a trick by not making a stranger things dark ride. I've been saying for ages that a Stranger Things land should take over kidzone. E.T can easily be refurbished into a Stranger Things dark ride as you can keep the forest line and the bike carriages are still relevant.
this is easily the worst theme park opinion i’ve seen in the last year. EASY. i rode ET 4 times during my may trip, taking away the only original ride for a……netflix show? I would never get over it i would literally be rolling in my grave about it decades later
@@awefawn7793 hey, I love ET too. I'm just saying if they ever were to get rid of it, I think it would be a worthy replacement. They wouldn't have to change anything too much so they could keep some of the elements people love in ET. It's not the first time Universal would base an attraction off a TV show. Whenever stranger things has been in the park before it's been popular. We can't deny that ET really needs some love and attention. I would love it if they fixed it all up and kept it as ET but I don't think that's likely to happen as much as it getting replaced.
@@fluorescentruss knowing how universal handles old attractions they usually don't just overlay rides unless they are screen based so just like Jaws it would be gutted. ET or Spielberg has a contract with universal that they must have x amount of his rides. Also that was his baby and the last remaining OG attraction at Universal. I don't see it going anywhere. Although a stranger things ride would be cool I think it would really only work around d halloween. Who knows tho with Epic Universe having a monster land maybe we will see stranger things arrive at the new park. I'm hoping Shrek gets changed over to secret life of pets. Universal would do good having another family style dark ride and it looks much better than what Disney has put out lately.
No, they should not lay a finger on E.T. and I don't think retheming E.T. to a ride that is themed to older kids like 13+ is a good idea because you are taking away a kids attraction and are replacing it with something kids will be scared to ride, so that is not a good idea in my opinion. What universal should do, is what many people want them to do, refurbish the ride or animatronics. Also it is one of the last opening day attraction.
I personally want a Trolls themed area they can name it after the show Trollstopia and they can have different tribes representing a cool idea like Techno Reef/Techno Lagoon can be a mini water area,Biggie in most areas of cannon has a cupcake theme bakery,Satin and Chenille can have either a fashion store or a gift shop,Country Trolls can have the burger place found in World Tour,And we can have small Bergan Town area to recreate the pizza and arcade place. Trolls has so much potential and its sad all we have in Orlando is Poppy,Branch,And Guy they did try out a Tiny puppet on Guy but they removed the concept fast.

I actually did some measurements and the ride buildings for Off The Leash and Shrek 4D are around the same size, but the rides current triangular layout will not fit in shreks building.
13:43 Shrek ears were actually a thing in Hollywood, because I remember buying them as a kid at the store in the front of Universal Studios Hollywood. I do hope that he gets his own better land in the US Parks.
The main problem I think shrek has is that it’s a pretty small building. If they were to make a new ride it would have to be limited. I feel like just switching the ride into a new 4D theater is the most likely option.
I think they need a dark ride... you only have ET there, then cat in the hat in the IOA, so a clone of the secret life of pets or smth minions (not walkthrough) could do the trick.

I'd love to see a video on what the "perfect Shrek theme park land" would be! I always thought the castline in Singapore looked great, but I haven't really seen too much of the land around it.
I did have an idea for an entire Shrek theme park that I was going to make a video on years ago. Got about half way through it. A lot of work. Maybe one day I'll finish it and show it off
I’m wondering if they’ll make into off the leash. The shrek show building is massive and off the leash would fit the theming in the area with minion mayhem being across
This may be more of a personal opinion, but I feel the creation of a themed land would make theming for Halloween Horror Nights more difficult as well.
Yes, it’s available on Netflix but, it’s doesn’t have the pre-show! However, other effects are missing are the movement in the seats, water effects, and tinker bell flying off the screen! Villain-con takes place in 1968, while Despicable me takes place in 2010, so it will feel out of place.

I'm just sad that Shrek is leaving because it removes a house location for Horror Nights. Granted if they really wanted to, I have it on pretty good authority that they could stick a tent, (like the one they put in the MIB Extended Queue,) behind Fast and Furious and call it a day. I'm just always a bit nervous whenever new ride development comes into conflict with HHN because I get horrible PTSD flashbacks to HHN 22 in 2012.... which is almost a decade ago... I feel old now.
I would say keep the theatre seats and build a stage and do beetlejuice the musical, it’s a big show but it will pull in tourists. Wicked was a 35 minute show in Japan so they could do the same for beej
I really hate the aesthetic of production central. It makes Studios look like a Six Flags park when comparing them to Epic Universe, Beijing and IOA's new additions. If Minions isn't going to be moved into the Back To The Future building once Simpsons closes, then that whole front section should get overhauled into Minions land.
Bland, but the area is supposed to be a Studios-themed area that is very common for major film companies at Hollywood, which did captured the vibe of it during the early years of the Park. This was no different at Disney’s MGM/Hollywood Studios like the Animation Courtyard and the Mickey Avenue areas. Hell, the show buildings of Star Tours and Rock & Roller Coaster were technically soundstages from the outside.
@@228-n6f I give Rock And Roller Coaster and Star Tours a pass because they try with their quenes. Shrek and Minions just dump you into switchbacks until you're in the preshow area. It feels cheep to me.
Ok so here's why something of the same ride style is going in there... they would be taking away horror nights space. They don't have a ton of space since getting rid of jaws to be able to do a one park horror nights without that theater. Otherwise they would have to do the building for Poseidon's adventure and take some real estate back on the old triceratops trail area, and the carnage warehouse... so it would be impossible to change the ride style.
I really enjoy your content however I must step in and ask ‘have you been to USS?’ Far Far Away is one of the best themed lands I’ve ever been to. Shrek 4-D IN THE CASTLE, two roller coasters, a store, a sit down quick service dinning, PLUS the best secret gem in any park Donkey Live!

Dreamworks theater is the only replacement I’m comfortable with. I went on it in Hollywood a few days ago and while I didn’t enjoy as much as I do Shrek 4D, I still enjoyed it.
I was thinking a shrek themed animatronic ride similar to Secret Life of Pets or they can just turn it into a kids ride there really is surprisingly little kids rides in that part of the park. Though honestly I feel Universal Studios should do more to seperate themselves from the other parks. What is the point to going to Universal Hollywood if most of the rides there are at Orlando. Allow Hollywood to have more unique rides to its park to encourage more visits to their California park. Secret Life of Pets is only at Hollywood right now and one of their foreign parks and it is a cool ride which could bring more guest to that park, why undermine that by putting it into the orlando park. These are the only rides at Hollywood that can't be found at Orlando: Kung Fu Panda (Shrek 4D of Hollywood), Secret Life of Pets, Jurassic World (updated Jurassic Park river adventure ride) and King Kong 360. other than that all they have is the tour and the Waterworld show.

I don't expect anything big - if they put anything of significant note there, it's going to flood those walking paths even more than usual.

I would love to see Wicked. Anything Wizard of Oz has proven to be evergreen so that could work
If they were able to incorporate the sponge on store they already had… if you think about it it would be fairly easy for them to re-theme kids zone into bikini bottom from spongebob. He’s been around since the 90s and is still proving to be a very popular character. I feel like both kids and parents would be able to enjoy that area together
I wonder if they will keep the donkey meet and greet since it’s so popular, maybe they can move it over to the DreamWorks destination???

If they take out ET I'm dropping my annual passes.
this is easily the worst theme park opinion i’ve seen in the last year. EASY. i rode ET 4 times during my may trip, taking away the only original ride for a……netflix show?
