Please, this is levity folks. Ramp down the negativity & enjoy it for what it is. It took twenty years but I'm glad I finally got to see this. Thanks for posting to YT...
Agree with Crispy27, someone should have told FOX that they played quite well together in Edmonton. I guess the intrigue was to see if they could pick up where they left off.
Gretzky didn't even choose New York as his first option. He wanted to finish his career with the Toronto Maple Leafs on a deal that would have been about half as expensive as the contract the Rangers dished out to him.
Not exactly. He wanted to. It's just that Leafs management was focused on selling tickets and filling the building than making the team exciting. The Rangers and Stars both expressed interest, besides the Leafs, and he would have taken half of the 6.5 million he made in New York to play in Toronto.
This was an ad that aired during FOX's initial Super Bowl and was seen by millions of people. The network threw him a decent amount of $$$ to appear in the promo.
Neil Smith was a douche. Did evrything he could to dismantle the 94 Rangers. Got rid of Zubov, who only went on to play the next decade or so with the Stars as the most reliable, almost never injured, offensive/defensive player in the leaugue.Sorry Smith, he didn't shoot enough? Guess M.Schnieder made up for that. While we're at it let's blame all offensive problems on Kovalev, send him packing. Nemchinov, Karpotsev? Who needs a solid checking line scorer and good stay at home defensman anyway?

This would have worked so much better if the two didn't win four cups together in Edmonton, but that's just me being picky.
