Sydney here. Been following the judges channel for a long time now and such a great education on what’s going on. Once again I find myself out of step with the heavily brainwashed here. One woman over a year ago who I thought had half a brain I went into detail of why Russia did what they did. I was in London at the time of the overthrow of the Ukraine government by the CIA. Anyway after telling her all of this she said, I think Putin wants this war! One woman recently told me she wanted to visit Russia but not until Putin is dead! Why I am always surprised by the level of stupidity! I try to shut my mouth but I am not going to agree with this idiots! Sorry for the rant. But so frustrating.

In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas.
If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy.
Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements.
Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time.
Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining NATO was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns.

The topic of leadership needs to be examined at length. Russia has exhibited leadership with restraint and articulating what is causing conflict.
The trouble as I see it is how do you deal with the delusional imbeciles that are in Washington! Putin clearly outlines the problems and puts forward a solution and has done so for years and has been ignored and they just pushed forward to surround Russia!

I admire Mr. Doctorow's cool-headed analysis. He tries to be as objective and realistic as he can, unlike some of the guests on this show who predict Ukraine's collapse or WW3 every couple weeks or so. The war will end with Ukraine's and the West's defeat but Russia too is paying a high price. Some people act like the Russians have everything figured out 100 years in advance. No one knows when all this is gonna end.
Russian population has grown by 13 million + , Ukraine has declined 20 million 😅 work ghat out
The biggest problem I have with all this is: why are these people doing this? Nothing they have been doing makes any sense.

The US announced at the summit that they are sending tomahawk missiles to Europe. The tomahawk missiles are in covert 40ft shipping containers used to shoot the missiles. Tomahawks were banned under the INF treaty, these are the same missiles that the US sent to the Philippines that Putin talked about. You can put nuclear warheads on the tomahawk missiles too.
