Bryan. When you are in a tank battle give your tanks the order to attack and you can hold Q on red alert and give them waypoints. Moving tanks take less damage and you will win more tank battles. You can even hit G to have them guard and then immediately issue waypoints to have them all attack different tanks at the same time. Also allied naval is a huge commitment. Get a chronosphere whenever you go naval and use it for cruisers.
if I remember correctly, the build order shown has something to do with the order in which buildings are placed, but if you pack up up and move your mcv it puts it into default order for everything available. So new construction options will always show up at the bottom. But I could be wrong it's been quite a few years.
No, you are correct. In the classic titles sidebar icons would appear in the order you met the requirements to build the unit. If you build a Tesla Coil first, Tesla Tanks will be higher up the list, if you instead built a Radar first, V2s will be higher up the list. But losing all production structures of a certain type, will reset everything to the default order once you can access to that production que again. You'll also lose any thing that requires a Tech Centre if you lost that prior to losing all factories of that type (whereas if you kept a factory alive but sold the tech centre, you'd still retain your tech centre requiring units).

Also for building hotkeys (which will not change when you redeploy your mcv) set them from f1-f12 keys but set them as your normal build order. Such as F1 powerplant> f2 barracks>f3 refinery > f4 warfactory > f5 radar> etc. You can also instantly place those buildings down using those hotkeys

Yeah the RA1 Destroyer is my favourite incarnation of it by far. Such a powerful and versatile unit, it's basically effective against all targets and has good range to boot, can even AA. The Depth Charges are way better for Sub-hunting that the Helicopters in RA2 aswell.

fantastic gameplay by the Engine....as a software engineer...i can't stop admiring the work they did from the crap 1996 release to this super smooth experience! ...and it will only get better with patches, more servers and LAN later!
Serious question though, will they patch the ore? Because this is how it was in original. Both a.i skirmish and online MP games always end up slowing to a crawl because money runs out so fast and grows back so slow. I mentioned it on reddit a couple times months ago and devs always responded with keeping the game true to original. Personally if they do not patch it then i don't see it lasting long once the nostalgia goggles come off.

In a situation where the entire map run out of ore so quickly. This is where the run begin. For Allied, try and save enough money for an apc and make some engineers. The left side is kind of defenseless. Load up the engineers to the apc and use the apc speed to sneak through the left side and look for important buildings to capture. The light brown player's construction yard, refinery and war factory is pretty defenseless. You can easily capture them and sell the structures for easy profit. For Soviet, make a Chinook and load up the engineers to sneak past your enemies then capture any important structures you can find.
Cruiser range is 22 squares! But the further they have to shoot, it will be likely have 70% miss. Also it is better for cruiser to line up straight to their target for better hit rate.

So from what i noticed so far @Bryan Vahey, Tiberium dawn's resources last a lil longer and regen at an ok rate, but like this game showed there needs to be some tweak done to RA1 eco. I think they should just add in oils and increase ore regen rate by 3x's. But even tiberium needs a re balance on how much there is on a map needs to be a lil faster
We played this game sometime during medschool(probably in 1998) and we were somehow able to wire together 2 PCs back then via a hail mary - we don't remember what ports were those exactly at the back of our 2 PCs and this game gave us so much fun! #Nostalgia.
The ore running out is because of the insane Que depth you can do now. You blaze through unit builds quickly depriving the map. Not sure that option was implemented properly. If enabled, ore should spawn faster. It doesn’t.
They can't due to the guy who made Dune's estate saying something along the lines of "things from the past should be left in the past." People have tried but the estate is really stingy about it, though some things do slip through.
No signs of it happening anytime soon... possibly ever. GoG tried to license selling Dune 2000, but the owners of the IP said they have no interest in the older games based on the David Lynch movie. If you have or find a copy of Dune 2000 it works with OpenRA, but I would love a remaster too.
the nuke is super for destroying the power, and hits hardest in the outskirts, a well placed nuke takes out 4 powerbuildings, if they were stupid enough to build them together.
I was playing allies campaign while watching this and when it got heated in my game i went to pause this...by pressing esc. I didn't even notice for a solid minute that i hadn't actually paused the video lol.
Bryan, when the developers remasters Red Alert 2 kindly ask them to make Tank Destroyers to be able to attack on the move and make their damage against buildings do normal damage so they can be useful.
Tbh, if they ever remastered RA2, they’d better rebalance the whole games, especially yuri faction. Some units like apoc tanks and Tesla tank need to be able to shoot while moving too
I still don't get why they didn't remaster the game with the biggest active userbase first (RA2 Yuri Revenge according to CNCNET numbers). Maybe it was easier to start with Red Alert 1.
I think they want to see how the community receive the remaster before committing to Ra2 YR which has larger fan base. It’s a common business tactic and Microsoft did the exact same thing with aoe1 and 2

Since RA came out only a year later and shared the same game engine, it made since to do both first. If sales for a remaster were high enough for EA, that would justify remastering the fan favorites as previously mentioned. This remaster is a top-selling title in 2020, so EA should have no problem pooling their resources for a TS/RA2 Remaster and if they wished to add new expansions for either one, I wouldn't object to that, either.
The only time it did was singleplayer campaign/missions in Tiberian Dawn. It hasn't since then (with the exception that I believe the Nod multi-missile in Tib Sun actually could tho if you got really really lucky with the way it scattered, highly unlikely though).

I'd like to see a mod that's basically OpenRA. They made everything far better. Nukes felt like actual nukes, you had plenty of resources. Its not 1 for 1 with old RA but damnit almost all games I've played since release are stalemates with resources.

Also if you build nuke the outside blast of the nuke does the most damage in RA1. It's best against power plants to make enemy tesla or as guns go offline
With regard to A Bomb damage, it was super nerfed for multiplayer because in single player campaings, 1 A Bomb could literally one shot almost your entire base (would completely level an MCV from 100 to 0 and had like almost 50% more radius or more I think). A Bomb in skirmish would BARELY just destroy power plants LOL.

One ore patch, one shot for one build the are no second chances this is hardcore. There should definitely be a patch for more ore/ore regenerates faster but it's cool to see how little the original game was actually altered, maybe this could be hardcore mode.
Your pretty good Bryan, I was really good in C&C and Red Alert back in the day. (Way back in the day) their was a place over by my house in Dallas Texas called surfers Paradise. It was a computer store that had computers network together. Anyways, they had 4 C&C and 9 Red alert tournaments over the years. I won 2 of the c&c and won 4 red alert tournaments. Even in later games, Superweapons have never been able to one-shot an MCV.

I hate OpenRA because of the fog of war, it sucks. I prefer Dawn of the Tiberium Age, you can turn on the fast resource regrowth too.

When you placed the radar dome, it removed all fog and showed you the whole map. Is that how it's supposed to work?
