How to Fix PC Tower Optical CD/DVD Drive that Won't Open

  • Yesterday I found some nice deals at the thrift store, one of them being a near fully functional Dell Optiplex 360 computer tower. Only issue is that the disc drive refuses to open.
    In this tutorial, I show how to fix an optical drive that is stuck and refusing to open. You'll need a paper clip (or anything that will fit in a pinhole), rubbing alcohol, and a q-tip. If this video is of help to you, don't forget to drop a like!

    Thanks dude! My dvd drive was malfunctioning it's led light And it wouldn't open up.

    can we use any alcohol (after shave or even gin)? Don't have isopropyl alcohol'

      It really depends. Something like a bottle of gin has ethanol alcohol in it which can potentially damage the rubber belt. Most aftershave products on the other hand have isopropyl alcohol contents in it, albeit a very small percentage. So while it would be safe to use, it may not be as effective.
