I’ve served in the British army mainly in Northern Ireland and loved every minute. If I was 18 again I would joined the RM in the blink of an eye, no questions asked. But unfortunately I’m now to old ☹️ but apart from that, these are the best soldiers in the world.🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
What regiment were you in when you were in the army?
Hayley Smith The Ulster Defense Regiment. The largest infantry regiment in the British army since the Neapolitan wars at that time. It’s now merged with the Royal Irish Rangers & is now known as the Royal Irish Regiment.
The jungle is awesome but scary place you would be happy if these fine chaps where coming to rescue you or really gutted if they where coming after you respect to the RM and all those who serve

yes it is..I did 2 tours in Borneo with Recce troop 42 Commando way back..
Can't wait to join I really hope all goes well for me and my process of joining. Sent my medical questionnaire and optician report through from south africa a few days ago. Very exited!

Those RM commandos are tough beast, formidable killing machines. They trained our Malaysian army GGK commandos in the late 60's. The GGK shared the same beret colour as the RM in dark green.
I agree with you, as regular forces these are the last guys you want to be running into in a conflict zone... It should be remembered they're generally deployed in special missions surgical strikes against enemy targets(supply depot's/communication hub) often away from main battlefront.

Simular, but im 16 and doing public services in college. It trains u for being in the millitary and the emergency services. So if that's your ambition to join the marines do that course if you are going to college

At 23 seconds that one soldier is my Nephew loading the bullets into the magazines , he didn't want his face anywhere on camera so this is the only shot of him . I am so so proud of him as he was only working part time in a dead end job in a supermarket so i talked him into signing up into the Army. This was his choice what he went into but so so proud of him.
Enjoyed my time in the jungle.Deployed with 1 RNZIR early 1980's.Based in Singapore,spent 15 months in the jungle out of the 2 years.2nd year trained as a tracker- scout.
Always love the young spunkers on these videos saying "I cant wait to join! " so assuredly . Then you get to lympstone get your cheeky nandos hair cuts taken off, your phone taken away, and crumble under the fact youve never been shouted at before then leave asap :D lol........

Did BATSUB many years ago, loved it. Sweated a few lbs off banging round that Jungle, Not sure about wearing helmets, as that could quite easily lead to heat stroke/exhaustion....at least that was what we was told by an instructor at the time, maybe things have changed?

and this is why royal marines dominate the battlefield, I just watched US marine basic training and its not even up to the standard of basic UK army training. much respect royals.
Are RM the best trained out of the British Armed Forces, excluding special forces?
Pathfinders have the closest training as well as selection pipeline to SF without being SF
US marines training is just as hard as the UK army actually. And even if the training is less hard that’s because the UK has to make up with more skill because they barely have any soldiers

I was with 42 Commando back t in the 60/70's and served 9 years mostly in the Far East..did 2 tours in the Borneo jungle...great memories..

Royal Marines aren't usually allowed full beards but 40 commando are currently living under arduous conditions.
No shaving in field, cuts can lead to infections

You will notice that NO service shave in combat jungle conditions ..... SAS SBS always look filthy and smell ..... that's jungle warfare !
After basic training you can grow a moustache and if it looks good enough within a week you're aloud to keep it.
None that Hollywood junk, no full auto, fire discipline, fire & manouvere, quality professional marines in action

Wonderful. In Royal Marines Commando trainning in jungle they can walk on wet soil, see all buy sun light and cross rivers swimming. But in Amazon I think they would need some advices from BIS (Batalhão de Infantaria de Selva). Amazon is another world, ask it to Foreign Legion on French Guiana.

When was the last time RM trained with the GGK?
Know someone who stepped on an landmine in Afghanistan, couldn't tell where it was underneath as it was buried deep in the sand that was armed and got his legs blown off, now he's brain damaged could've died, hes in a wheelchair now and he's barely surviving, things like that can do major damage to yourself that it's scary, it's between life and death out there. Don't really know him personally but on the news that he lives a few cities away from me. Hope in the future the military infinitry squads can see what's underground especially landmines by an mine scanner and tracks anything that's metal you can see things that are metal so none of this should rarely happen again.

Yes royal marines mountain leaders who are basically extra trained specialists in arctic and mountain warfare. Proper badasses honestly don't know why they aren't considered UKSF

MinarchistAnglo only about 5,000 a3 were issued I think so there probs spreading them out. Not sure tho
This was back when they were phasing them in hence the LMG. Unless Royals still use the LMG. Not sure.
They still use some lmg like the gmpg(general purpose machine gun)

@@reidsmith4590 You can quite easily keep your hand on the handguard and not block your sights. Also if he's surveying the area, he should be looking over the sights not through them, as this would cause tunnel vision

all uk forces are permitted to forgo being shaven in jungle environments due to the increased risk of a cut becoming infected
If you need a jungle training first go to a jungle. Not to a backyard!!!!
Belize is very far from being a 'backyard'.
It is covered in thousands of square km's of dense jungle ... not quite as dense as you appear to be though!
