    I love the way the lady was on her bike all the time ready to take off if things became too dangerous for her. Safety first.

    Thanks for sharing! I did a long journey in October, left from Mkushi, Zambia through Livingstone, over Kazangula bridge, through Botswana to Ngoma, along the Kaprivi strip through Windhoek and down to Keetmanshoop for a regional darts tournament (which Zimbabwe won - my team). Took me 3 days to get there and only 2 days to get back - I took a different route back, went via Katima Mulilo up next to the Zambezi river to Mongu (best road in Zambia) then east through Kafue National Park to Landless Corner and back to the farm in Mkushi - 5200km both ways - in a LandCruiser with a mattress in the back - was epic!!

    Thank you Henriette for another entertaining adventure. I'm fairly new here and quickly becoming enchanted. I was surprised to see how Soilitaire looks much like small Prairie town near me in Canada with entrance sign, windmill, old cars, tractor, activity center, gas station, water tower.

      @@ForTheLoveOfWheelsI’m impressed by how you are learning to maintain and repair your bike. When you do it yourself you know (1) it has been done, and (2) that it has been done correctly. Some years ago I had two really bad jobs done by a BMW workshop that I fixed myself, and since then no mechanic has been near my bike. Saving money is a secondary bonus to the peace of mind after doing it yourself.🕊

    • @ForTheLoveOfWheels
      @ForTheLoveOfWheels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ernier9033 I definitely learned a lot from working together with extremely skilled mechanics but yes, sometimes it's better done by yourself. 😑 I really like working on the bike, so for me it's all fun!

    I got a bike at the beginning of this year, the motivation being a trip to Namibia. At the moment I am busy getting all the required gear for such a trip. Last on my list a inReach Mini 2 and Giant Loop Saddlebag. How did you find riding Namibia ... do people need a lot of sand practice ?

    • @ForTheLoveOfWheels
      @ForTheLoveOfWheels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What a great plan. The thing with Namibia is that it's big wide and straight gravelroafs, So the sand can be faced with speed. Unlike many other places where small curvy roads full of cattle and children will force you to go slow, marking it way harder

    You may want to have a go at the Bitterwater Farm near Windhoek. There's a worldwide famous glider flying centre there. Maybe you can hitch a ride? I tried to arrange a flight for Noraly when she came past there, but she refuses any suggestions from viewers of her video, so that didn't happen. 🤷‍♂
    The Bitterwater folks seemed very welcoming and invited her for a stay, I bet you'll be welcomed there similarly.
    By the way: You stepped into a slangy list-of-false-friends-trap. "Schiffen" is a German slang term for peeing, and yes, an endless source for puns in German.
    "Und dann habe ich nach Rotterdam gefahren, und dann geschifft nach Capetown" accordingly was heard by me as "Then I went to Rotterdam and then I peed to Capetown." (Which would be an impressive effort. 🤣) "Etwas verschiffen" (Ship something to somewhere), "Sich einschiffen" (To go onboard of a ship or to pee on oneself), "Verschiff dich!" (Pee off!), Claudia Schiffer…
    Just endless puns. Yours was charmingly innocent and just super funny! 🤗
    Oh, and P.S.: I now how much you like animals, but you really shouldn't take hedgehogs into your tent for cuddling with them if you sleep on an air mattress.

    • @ForTheLoveOfWheels
      @ForTheLoveOfWheels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I would have loved that. For me travelling is all about meeting locals, but we are all different.
      At the moment I am heading for Zambia and will not come back that way. But good tip for next time around. In general I was overwhelmed by the hospitality of the Namibians. If you follow my Instagram, you will know 😊🏍🔥
