Sure thing! Cushing's Triad has three components (Hence, "triad"): systolic hypertension with a WIDENING pulse pressure, irregular breathing, and bradycardia. While you certainly may see other signs/symptoms such as a decreased LOC or bilaterally dilated pupils, those are not a part of Cushing's triad, which the question was specifically asking about. Hope that helps!
Cushing Triad is a LATE sign of a neurological change. Cushing is a sign of brain herniation. I had a patient that started to have change in mental status (increase agitation, then became more somnolent), then pupillary changes, then signs of Cushing.
Consciousness is a function of the cerebral cortex, whereas BP, HR, and breathing are functions of the brainstem. Question is asking about Cushing's Triad which is related to brain stem herniation so look for answer choices related to brain stem dysfunction.
Great content but confused about the dolls eyes comment. I’ve always been told “it’s good to be a doll”. You said brain dead patients would have dolls eyes. Is this incorrect?
If you're listening on headphones, try utilizing both of the headphones or try playing the audio through a computer. I know it's not ideal but when I recorded some of my first videos, I accidentally chose the mono option which defaults to one headphone. So sorry!
Great video! Thank you! ❤
Amazing teaching skills. This is the only decent review video on TH-cam
I appreciate that more than you know. Thank you!
You are truly appreciated!
Aww I appreciate it! Thank you! :)
Thank you!!
A little confused on question 5, decrease LOC was the answer but in the next slide it was also a symptom. Would love more insight, thank you!

I passed the CCRN exam today. Thank you soooo much
I would just like to add that pupil change , dilation for example is also ipsilateral 😊 unless the stroke is bilateral
