Theft of bikes off these racks while you're riding and perhaps surfing the web on your phone is quite a problem, so best to pay attention when the bus is stopped to not become a victim! Forgetting your bike is also a pretty common problem; the bus agencies end up with quite a few abandoned bikes every year.
Once you have this Down it takes seconds. We have these in king county and (other than my first 2 times) I have never held up the bus while using these. I’m usually not the last one on, and if you get out first you can take the bike off the rack before the last person gets in. And its so convenient to be able to bike to the bus stop (which is the fastest way to get around within a city) and take the bus on the highway and then ride the bike the rest of the way. It’s just as (sometimes) faster than a car. If your in king county and bellow the age of 19 you can ride for free. Consider it.
Keep an eye on that bike... Watched someone jack a bike off the rack at a stop once. Bus driver had to keep his route of course so he just kept on going.

Remember: most people on the bus take the bus for cheap transportation. They don't care if it takes a minute to put your bike on, they're used to it.
