In our eleventh video, we visit Meadow Lane Stadium, home of Notts County FC, in Nottingham (NG2 postcode), have a laugh with security, get confused for someone attending a fishing event, marvel at the stadium itself and learn about some of its legends.

As a Notts supporter great video. On Hayden Green, he purchased the leasehold at Notts County when it looked like the Council wanted to move the football ground, therefore giving us 99 years to remain at Meadow Lane. He died a few years ago so the family stand was named in his honour

The pitch rebuild is a much bigger operation than it looks. They have installed new drainage channels, under soil heating capability and the pitch surround, which will be topped by black astroturf, contains water supply pipes, drains and trunking for electrical cables and services.
Yeah someone else told me that too - Premier League standard supposedly - is that accurate? If so, it will add some excellent infrastructure for a promotion push.
@@Laudits There is a really interesting video on the club website where the head groundsman explains what is being done in detail as the work is in progress.

The new fan zone is not where you thought it was, it's not actually in the ground itself. We've bought a warehouse next to the ground and converted it into a new fan zone / event venue with a massive screen (like a mini version of box park). It's now open for the European Championship games. Also, we've totally rebuilt the pitch, with undersoil heating, hybrid grass, new drainage and astro turf perimeter track, hence the rubble on the video. Not bad for league two.

We were formerly known as the lambs before we became the magpies
Why the change & when did that happen?
@@Laudits we became the magpies because of our black and white home strip and I think it was changd from the lambs a few years after we were founded

@@user-li8mr4vi9v We also changed from the Lambs because of the group of young Nottingham criminals that was also known has the Lambs and we didn't want the association.

Although Notts are the world's oldest professional football club, Meadow L:ane is not the oldest stadium, having been opened in 1910. Great vid though!

@@Laudits you mentioned the 'mess'. They're constructing a very expensive brand new hybrid pitch to PL/CL standard and installing the relevant data cabling and undersoil heating, plus the construction of the new pitch surround area.. Notts' new 'The Nest' fanzone next door is hoped to be ready for the Euros although that seems a tad ambitious at this stage!
