I hear a lot of people saying For Vaux plays like Locker. It doesn't. Way more flanking routes and non-linear gameplay. It's wonderfully fluid.
Flakfire Exactly what I've been saying. A lot less choke points. Also, for those who didn't know: instead of a behemoth, the losing team will get three elite classes that spawn close to base. I'd assume the same goes for Verdun.

Metro and Locker were insanely linear and emphasized choke points, with few opportunities for varied gameplay. This map looks more fluid and non linear, and could offer some great CQB gameplay.
It's important to emphasize the difference between CQB and linearity when it comes to comparing maps to Metro/Locker.
I agree as well! The only comparison to Lockers/Metro is that it seems like the team travels as a group flag to flag, however, the non-linear gameplay makes flag capping much more "circular." Therefore, back-raging doesn't seem very likely and matches seem to be going to be generally close all the time. I must say that Operations on this map looks amazing!
Overall in BF1, I would say that Argonne is more similar to Lockers/Metro and Suez is slightly like them as well.
Ben Harder amazing looking map. So far, it looks unlinear and if your team can spread out evnough I'm sure you could make it linear in that sense

Nade spam is gonna be horrible. Everyone is just gonna play assault and spam grenades and anti tank nades. Hopefully dice will fix before it releases

A little bit of history: The cistern gauge at Fort de Vaux was faulty, and didn't read the correct level of fresh water for the fresh water supply. The French garrison stationed there held out as long as they could, with stockpiles of food, but ran out of fresh water. The Commander of the Fort saw his men passing out and dying of dehydration, after not having fresh water for days (some as little as 1/4 pint for over 24 hours, with men licking slime off of the walls, and drinking their own urine)decided to turn over the fort to the German army after they had been besieged for a week. The German army suffered losses of over 2,400 men, while the French lost just over 200, giving only 30 meters of the fort to the Germans during their advances. The last pigeon sent by the commander was given an award posthumously, then stuffed and put on display.
Flame throwers were a terror weapon used, and many of the troopers were casualties of their own weapons, as their packs were pierced by bullets, engulfing their squads and themselves in fire.

The amount of resupplies you get just makes me sad I play on console. You can literally spam the fuck out of the ammo command while looking right at a support player and they don't give you shit
Trevor Leach for me it's the reverse. when i play support, i spam the ammo pack button on every ally i meet. i have the big and little ammo packs equiped (don't know their english names).
but the worst are the fucking medics 3 meters away who won't revive you. i have a screenshot of a medic laying on my cadaver doing nothing. There should be a "revive me, dumbass" request button
I don't think that's a console vs. PC problem. It's just that the kind of people playing on CTE are the kind of people who give a shit about the game, so you're more likely to see teamplay.

64 player operations on that map is going to be a shit show.
At least the points aren't positioned in a straight line like Operation Locker, Metro, or even the current Suez

This Map looks amazing, and for those who don't know if you play this map on operations, rush or front lines you will get to start fighting outside of the fort where there will be a lot trenches and bunkers. I can't wait to see the verdun heights map now, I have a feeling that one is gonna be the most epic.

I honestly think this looks fantastic. CQB maps add variety to the Battlefield formula. I didn't find much content on offer in BF1, and the game got a bit stale after 100 hours for me. Looking forward to some variety.

for $50 for priemum, I'd say it's worth it. these maps look so good, and add more variety to bf1(same with guns). bf1 did not have much content on launch so it did get stale a little for me. but I always played it because of the bf moments, like screaming rag doll pilots falling from the sky,etc and I love it. I've always had premium pass since bf3 times and it has been always worth it. dice is a awsome developer 👍

Finally, a map with no snipers, no mortars and no vehicles. Just loads of explosions with the next level grenade spam with everyone being assault hauling AT grenades at each other.

These "clusterfuck" themed maps shouldn't be what makes Battlefield a popular game. They feature no vehicles and little to no teamwork. You're just throwing Call of Duty elements into a game that features vehicles and team play with these maps.
If you disagree, it's my opinion. Doesn't mean I'm not jumping with joy over this map, doesn't mean I'm whining about it.

lol no, what I mean is that Battlefield requires teamwork to win the game, but in CQ maps it relies less on that, which isn't a problem btw, its just Teamwork and vehicles make Battlefield distinguished from other games

Probably no shotguns in general because the other shotguns are just as good to use. The Model-10 Hunter is just utterly broken with its range but this map doesn't have that problem.
Also, fuck those server rules. Thankfully there are a lot of official servers that don't restrict gameplay.

PianoSteve whilst the aesthetics and map designs inside are similar, operation locker was so damn linear and had no space for flanking, whereas Fort Vaux seems much more open and there seems like plausible flanking opportunities

Yes, but in BF4 medics had weapons like the ACE and AEK. The map will definetly have majority Assaults and like a handful of medics and supports. Don't fool yourself, I'm excited for a scout free cqb map, but it'll be hipfire city.

This map is so amazing. It really captures the feeling of Fort Vaux or Fort Douaumont. Constant shelling and close quarters fighting.
It just has that Verdun siege feeling.
It hurts to see how no matter what, from the start of the video all the way to the end once the enemy had that 100 points advantage it was basically over even 16 minutes before the match ended. What if for example if the loosing team held 3 or more objectives at the same time it would give maybe some extra points or faster deployment or something? If they are good enough, they can comeback, if not, they had the chance.

Yeah, basically the garrison at Fort Vaux held a long while longer than the other ones in the path of the German advance (a.i. Fort Duamont) but eventually had to surrender due to lack of water and food

If there is a Behemoth on this map, I feel like the Airship would be the best one. You could use it to cap both of the outside points on the map and then move in from both sides.
And tbh this map looks amazing. Way better than Locker/Metro. It's more like Pearl Market, which was great.
I hope they add the Tsar tank in the Russian DLC, that would be awesome... XD.... Also they should add a DLC for Belgian maps.

Clusterfuck or not, this map look pretty historically accurate. Le Fort de Vaux was build in 1880ish for 150 soldiers and disarmed in 1915 (French Strategic Flair ...). It was a key position during the battle of Verdun (1916). 600 frenchs were attacked by 4 divisions (5200). After the german breach, the combat take place in the narrow underground of the fort. Flame-thrower, Grenade, baîonnette and trench shovel were the weapon of choices ... 250 Frenchs soldiers were captured after the reddition, mainly because water supplies was destroyed. Casualties on German side are insane: 2.7K wounded or dead for 250 on the french side.

I miss being part of this game's life-cycle and experiencing every stage of it's development. One of the best gaming experiences of my life. It's really a "you had to be there" experience, where you were just anticipating what was coming next

In Verdun, in 1916, some French army fought German and theirs artillery from this fort.They beat the 50th German division and went after long and hard battle. On the night of November 2-3, they took the fort back to the Germans. So they are beaten fiercely, without artillery and lack of ammunition (since the fort was disarmed in 1915 by the French decree) then surrendered and later they resume it in the night. Here is the story! ^^
Dude I'm doing a report on the battle of verdun douaumont or fort vaux but in the underground tunnels of one of the forts the Germans took the tunnels with flamethrower and the French were armed with pistols and grenades
Also the Some German Troops said they could see Verdun During the battle but the French turned it around and were within 1 mile of where the battle started at the end of it
my favorite because there's no vehicles it just focuses on ground combat

I appreciate the opportunity to see the new maps-I'm one of those terrible console peasants so no access to the CTE as yet-but it would be really helpful if TH-camrs could discuss and feature changes the CTE are testing, not just the maps and the hype for the DLC. I understand hype is part of what TH-camrs have to do for income, but I've already seen LevelCap do a "guide" on the new behemoth, while I haven't seen anyone doing videos on how the 50% reduction of AA to plane damage affects gameplay, or the fact that when you threw those AT nades, Jack, you actually did already have another grenade because it automatically refilled without an ammo crate. If the CTE is only a place for people to get early access to features then changes that need to be made will never be, well, tested. Just my two cents here.
The map looks like a ton of fun, though.
Hey @jackfrags, when you were talking about the ribbons covering up the flag info at 12:17, I found out you can go into Options -> Awards -> Set to "Hide" and ribbons, medals, and assignments won't show up on the screen when you're playing (but they still show up at the end of the round)

Does anybody know if we'll get two new operations with this new DLC? I'm not a huge fan of conquest, I don't enjoy the broken front lines and lack of team tactics in that game mode and never have. Rush and operations is all I play, and that new game mode seems really interesting!

The Zombie noise from the Isolation door is probably hooked with the evil noises from the Morse Code translating machine after you get the dog tag. The evil whispers from the Mcom thing is similar to the screams from the Isolation door
