Actually i like gary the most, or at least in game contents, he was the one member who stood a chance against jongkook, which made the show more interesting
He's the one and only Mr random capable. I can still remember an episode where Jongkook and Gary battled out for a key for their reincarnation in the future, in a way of name tag elimination. Then in the present time, wherein they have been reincarnated, later have the members known that the only two left remaining who were battling out in their past life was Gary and Jongkook. They were unsure who won because Gary can stand a chance against Jongkook. In the end Gary won. There's a lot of times where the members want to form a group/alliance with Gary 'cause he's capable and strong. That's why he was and will always be branded as Mr random capable.

She doesn't use men and throw them away, but doing what she is told to make sure people watch thow show. Sorta like fanservice. This is completely normal in the korean industry. Most of entertainers want to feel how to be on the peak. Gary reached that peak. He knows how it feels to be successful in music/entertainment with popularity from all around the world but he also knows how much he needs to sacrifice to be there. Throughout the years he already felt all the upside down in the industry so now he just want to be happy with the real happiness he has - his family. Thank you for making us happy on Running Man, Gary. You left us with nothing but happy memories.

I really think that the Monday couple attracted a lot of young audiences, including me. I like Kang Gary because of how simple he was and the way he talks to Song Ji Hyo when they were still a Monday couple felt like they are filming a drama. You can't really hate him because there's basically nothing hateful towards him as a whole person, that's why a lot of people like him.

This makes me think he was suffering from some sort of depression. He was truly one of my favorites back in RM. So for all the times he brought me so much laughter, my wish is that he is healing through whatever he went through and is finally at peace with his family ✨
I agree. I’ve faced depression before. And when it hits, sometimes you’d just want to shut the world out. This might be the reason he “cut” ties with RM members. He just needed time, solace and his family. Though I’m sad this happened, I’m glad that he found peace and love in his wife and child. I wish him all the happiness in the world.

It may not make sense to others who see him as a happy and successful person, but for that time when he just wanted out and thought he was "damaging" RM - these baseless thoughts are so characteristic of mental health issues that I've struggled with myself.

Monday couple is the big reason why i started to watch running man. At first i was sad because of his decision but now I'm truly happy for him. I also keep support running man now even there's no more gary & lee kwang soo. Thankyou kang gary cause you were the reason i was able to laugh on monday & during my hardest time. He's one of the most simple minded person I've ever seen. He only follows what his heart says and moves forward. I love this man.
The reasons when I started from liking him to loving him since his day 1 in rm
1. He's cute and innocent (he would startled Everytime Jaesuk suddenly stood beside him)
2. His cheesy/smooth lines (his first move on Jihyo was "She's good at LOVE" and "she has lovely eyes")
3. Can't resist his sweet and flirty moves (He kept on helping and hitting on Jihyo when he had chances)
4. His random jokes (I'm good at bearing pain)
5. He's loyal (if you ask who do I trust the most in rm it would be him, and he stayed in Monday couple character even tho he got pair up with pretty female guests)
6. He's polite (I love Everytime he call Hyungnim instead of Hyung and always use the most formal speaking)
7. He's effortless always relax and peace (I remember one time when everyone were working hard to break the jail he would just ate his dumplings and chill)
8. Strong and fast (not competitive and you can't underestimate this guy when he's serious his strength is no joke)
8. His voice is unique (he doesn't have average voice always speak like a drunk person but Damn it's so relaxing) (I listen to his songs to help me sleep everyday)
9. Well, he's handsome (I'm speaking for myself. At this point including all the charm he suddenly looks handsome lol)
10. He's responsibility (when I see him with his son and wife my heart seem to be more at peace and understanding why things turned out the way it was).

I personally think Gary was the 2nd best member of running man after kim jongkook in term of strength. He was good and skilled in any games without trying so hard. And the way he talk is funny too. He is kind of sentimental person. I think this is bcs he is a rapper😁

I was worried that it was because of how much they kept calling him squid or ugly a few episodes before he quit. A joke can only go so far before it becomes frustrating. But then again, we won’t ever know unless he says so himself. He was one of my favourite running man members alongside Kwang Soo. But I’m happy for them and hope they keep in touch with the other members again

He was the first member to show support to Jihyo and Kjk after the kick~out issue! Up to now I feel so grateful that the comments under this posts are so positive and understanding! My heart ached so much as I still come across many hash comments on him! When his news of joining TROS was released ,the Knetiens bashed him hard! Actually Gary ,Haha and Myuk PD follow each others on the Instagram! In an interview Gary even disclosed that he znd Haha kept sharing their kids photos with each other , only that it is not openly on social media! A short while ago, Myuk PD uploaded a post, showing two of them and their sons Hao and Morgan met!
Back then Monday couple is so popular, and u know some fans are toxic and dumb. They can not make difference between real life and variety show. I hear at some interviews, Gary change his number because harassment he got.
Gary is one of the reason we keep watching runningman. He represents us the normal looking guys, with his determination to survive every games there are in runningman, makes us the normal guys with normal capabilities keep motivated in the daily lives games of ours.
All i know is that he's a very kind person. I remember this one episode where a guest mention he had donated something in a large amount without public's knowledge, whereas people would want the public to know about their good deeds. Always hoping the best for him, and always be a fan.
Real hero never publicize his deed.

Gary has always been up there among my favorite members. It wasn't until I reached my late 20s that I realized how incredibly real he was and gained a new appreciation for him.
He leaves RM to start a family that's all if he stay on running man and the media find out that he has a love of his life that will create a huge scandal that will affect RM because of Monday couple and I'm thinking the same with kwangso exit too they are getting older so it's time to start a family of there own hope for there happiness💖

If you watch TROS, even regular people, who just watch TV and don’t follow showbiz, they still recognize Monday Couple. This just show how popular Monday Couple was. If Gary stayed on RM and got married, it would have been more controversial. Gary made good decision that he left RM to get marriage. Haha wasn’t involved in a loveline. LKS has his injuries that he needs to take care of his health. Plus the SooMin loveline was never get as big as Monday Couple.

he didn't have the handsome prince face and height but he's someone who can makes people feel safe and secure.
Most of the female guest vouch for him and wanted to be his partner during the show due to his charisma and as a dependable guy .Because he's not fake and trying to hide his true self under the guise of makeup.
Honestly just listening to this I can feel like he really struggled mentally. He chose himself over fame and success and honestly I'm glad he's happy and stable (mentally) where he is.
Knew him from Running Man. Enjoyed his presence on the show, his humor, his brilliance, his incredible stamina. Everything!

at first I adore him cause our name is similar, his stage name, not his real name. as the times goes on, I started to really likes all RM Members until now, but for sure I really like the episodes when Gary won the race. I was sad when he decided to leave RM, but maybe what he felt was right. He needed to find his "real" happiness, and he REALLY found it by marriage and having a genius son. His act by cut off communication with all RM members maybe was rude, but I am sure he really had his own reason, other than protecting his family. RIght now, I am glad that my Idol, my Role Model, is enjoying his life with his family. I am still hoping that maybe Gary will come to RM as a guest, and maybe with all ex Members, Joong Ki, Lizzy and Kwang Soo. Just to make race that something nostalgic to the all RM viewers.

I agree in the first part. I watch running man because of gary and then after he left I start loving kwang soo.
I remember being very confused each time i heard about Gary's lack of communication after 2016, but I respect that he doesn't have to explain himself. While this video wasnt able to explain that either (understandably), it did put some things in perspective for me. Especially the part about how he once cut off all his friends to focus only on music that year when he only made $2k. Whatever the reason, limiting his social interactions seems like something he does to maybe manage stress and gain control of some situation, so I can respect and understand that. I just hope he doesn't take the hate he's received since then to heart.
Gary has huge interest and talent in music. I think when he decided to leave RM, he already suffered a lot. When we lost interest in something that we really love, we feel empty inside. I think he just want happiness, and to feel like himself again.

I saw him like haha's ins posts reposted by fans.(Of course I didn't know why he did not like it directly in haha's instagram! ) Now Gary , Haha and Myuk PD has been following each other on Instagram for a period of time! Gary once in an interview said that he and Haha shared photos of their kids! When Haha"s daughter was born, Gary dropped greeting too! And while age Gary , Hao met with Myud PD and his son Morgan.

Haha is the only one he follows of RM cast on insta and the only one to contact him, Gary even sends for Haha some caps as he said on RM.
He was his friend even before RM that's why he is still with him... but with others, it's not. Yeah, he supports them and everything and doesn't hate them, he's just no longer meeting or speaking to them. I don't judge him for that, I was just kinda sad to know, I loved their relationship.

It is not easy to be a top star in Korea. They have to be physically and mentally strong. I understand Gary well. He was doing his best when he was in that industry but he has fully rights to take a break when he feels tired. Live well Gary. We miss you and we love you.

Honestly I’ve watched RM with my sister when I was young and it brought so many laughs. To this day I still watch funny montages of RM and I remember hearing the news of Gary leaving it made us quite sad but happy at the same time that he was leaving for love.
This video doesn't mention one important thing; that Gary wrote many legendary songs and sung by legendary singers. Not only hip hop songs, but also r&b and ballad. Such as Gajima Gajima sung by Brown Eyes.
Well, this video lacks of information like about Honey Family. Honey Family gained success with first album and still consider as a very iconic first generation Hiphop group. Or Gary wrote lyrics for over 200 songs and many more about him.
At this point, he doesn't need the limelight to earn money. I think he have a good grasp of the copyright game and enough top hits from his written songs that he does not have to push too much long hours on his entertainment career and spend more of his time with his family.

Thank you for making this, i've been his fans since 2012 and still love him till this day. A lot of people misunderstood him but i always think it's because they still hurt by his sudden leaving, etc. But please, for those of you who still hurt by him, i hope you can forgive him sooner or later and move on. honestly for me it’s totally fine gary choose to leave rm and focus on his own family but the thing is he blocked and cut his relationship w/ all the member except haha. i grew up watching them as a family with a strong bond which i think everyone feels the same way as well, not just as “co-workers”. and buy cutting them off completely is just really sad and kind of disappointing. it feels like rm doesn’t rlly mean a lot for him. but still support him!❤️
No I don't think so, because he cut off everyone not just RM. There is a purpose and that is to protect his family from the malicious netizens which hurt him and his wife a lot. Also idk which episode it was after the members mentioned not having his number, but just a while later that Haha said he's been receiving caps and he knows it's from Gary. It's actually like this: just because he cut people off doesn't mean he doesn't cherish them. He just felt an immense need to protect his family first :-) cheer up!
He changed his number no blocking the number. Huge difference. He just want to leave like normal person and protect his wife from crazy rm fan like you. There are good fan also very bad fan. If he didn’t cut ties with the RN members he would still be in RN. He did that because he knew that the members will try to convince him back and tell him that he’s not harming them. Same thing when Kwang soo left, they still trying to convince him to go back. But Kwang soo is really nice to the members so he wouldn’t do what Gary did.

Off camera, running man members are merely colleagues for him, Jee Seok-jin and song ji hyo in the past. They didnt have bonding as what we thought except for YJS, KJK LKS and HAHA. You can feel it through the show because they didn't talk about their private interaction between members except YJS, KJK LKS and HAHA. I only respect KJK because he really wanna make friend with others with sincere heart while LKS and YJS really wanna do more for the show

I hope people don't just see it as Gary doing things to focus on his family. He also did many things to protect his family. Afterall, being in the spotlight has so many cons... may be hard for people to understand, but he has always been very private. So I find it understandable that he became more private and took measures in order to protect his family. And most of such people do this when there's a greater need to- it doesn't mean he no longer cares about all the relationships he's had. But he still loves and cares for them.

Watching Gary and his son on The Return Of Superman showed how clever and entertaining he was. He did not hurt The Return of Superman, he was a fun contributor.
As much as I truly miss seeing Kang Gary in Running man & The Return of Superman, he sacrificed a lot in his life especially when he won his first prize award for his parents (back in RM early episode 9), he has and always been independent in his life where he works so much to reach his career today. I was mad at him when he cut ties with RM members and everyone else in his life, but I understood why. He knew how the media was, how the entertainment world can be, and how crazy fans would get. I respect him so much; therefore, he found happiness and that's all that matters now, his happiness and our support to him and his choices!

im glad current RM with Somin and Sechan has a fresh start eventho LKS departure definitely hit them hard.

well,after somin and sechan joined..Haha definitely becomes ALOT MORE funny and active again just like the old days and that makes me very happy..ji hyo too also become a bit more active now..although i think ji hyo have always didnt get much screentime and isnt even active even before gary left...(the only times i think she always have screentimes is during like the first 150 episodes)

I always felt like he didnt receive even half of the love fans had for him while he was on the show. his laughing reactions were so genuine and made moments so much better but also he mr random capable was so hilarious lol not to mention his music as leessang and as a solo!!! STILL UNDERRATED. Such a great musician. i still love him so much and wish him all the best. I don’t think Leessang and musician Gary are underrated in Korea. Maybe internationally, yes. Leessang is the second most winner of MAMA hip hop awards after Epik High. Every Leessang album had at least one hit song. In fact, Leessang never had a failed album. Hexagonal was an all-kill album. Asura Balbalta, the album was huge hit, all songs from the album took the 1-10 places on many music charts including K-billboard 100. Leessang concerts were always sold out in Korea. And from 2013, Leessang and Gary never needed to promote their songs, it still achieved #1 on that chart. Things changed after he left RM and member revealed Gary changed his phone number.

In a few episode before he announced his leaving from the rm, i found out he is less active and got very few screen time, and the monday couple bond is no longer be seen, so I'm so disappointed. But, still he is my favourite character in running man, and after watching him in the return of the superman, I'm glad that he's doing fine
Imo he really took the monday couple seriously, he want it to be true. We all want it to be true. but jihyo doesn't felt the same. Can't blame her. So he just stuck in the friendzone area. And that feeling just washed him up until he said "there's nothing left to show to the fans". He doesn't have more personality & side to show. He had gave his all already

And Gary had been dating his wife during RM time, if you watch his anniversary vlog. I don’t know exactly when. When Gary was on Strong Heart, he said that he proposed to RM PD that SJH should play push and pull with Gary to protect her image.
