I have just about every book ever written about Wilson Bentley & I absolutely LOVE him!!! He was a genius, an artist & a real visionary. His work with snow crystals has yet to be matched. And his sister was a delight. :)
i appreciate his work! and also very much enjoyed the old lady's comment and her final comment that he is happy now that his work is finding audience. what a beautiful affirmation of the wealth and endurance of human life beyond death and this life.
I have always wanted to know more about this devoted, spiritual guy and tonight happened upon this doc. How surprised to see the names and hear the voice of friends of old! Congratulations. Lovely, spare documentary that conveys the essence.
Brilliant man, lovely idea. What an imaginative and fun thing to do. I just am enthralled with Mr. Bentley and his works of art. I can't get enough! Would love to have a big book with all of his photos. I wish I could have worked with him!
Of all the videos about Wilson Bentley there are on TH-cam, this is the one I keep coming back to and passing on to people. I'm planning a full-length film about Bentley. Tomorrow, February 7th 2015, is his birthday. I'll be in Jericho, his hometown. The weather forecast? 90 percent chance of snow.
I'm here after reading the book Forces of Nature by Brian Cox where he tells and explains why the snowflake is six-sided. Fascinating. Thank you for making this available.
I want so amazed at the intricacy of detail in these tiny objects when I first saw Bently s photos. We are so blessed by his dedication. All of my snowflakes are inspired by his work.
I work at an assisted living and they played this documentary for the residents. It happened to be my day off and I read a pamphlet they had about Wilson Bentley and I was so captivated and wish I could have been at the presentation. I actually thought it was the man himself. Did not know he died in 1931 LO. L. Anyway, I'm amazed and fascinated with snowflakes and this was such a cool thing to see. I can't wait to read his book. So glad our activities director decided to show this!
there always has to be a spin that the artist was not understood, yet his parents supported his dream and bought him a camera! And the article they site says he was "World Famous" at his death...
It's very cool how people can remember this stuff from so long ago, but it must have sucked for him to die right before Christmas, only 2 days!!!!! But that sucks because he couldn't spend Christmas with his family. 😭
Dear Mr.Smith: I request your authorization that I will add bilingual subtitles in both Chinese and English. In January, 2021,there is a snow study project for the teenagers s in winter camp. As an educator in China, I really want to introduce this film to my pupils. Waiting for you reply. sincerely Jiang
Thank you Jiang! You have my permission to add Chinese subtitles. I am very happy the film is being used for educational purposes. Mr. Bentley would approve :)
Very good film . Lots of interesting facts in a short video . Though he bought the camera that had a microscope on it already . the camera had already got the microscope attached to in when he bought it . And I don't see how if his family sraped by just because they had spent loads of money on his camera how could he have been filmed doing these experiments ?!? I also thought that he was not that famouse so how do all thes people know about him ? He did not want to be famouse ! xx x x x x x xx
N BI-- If this is true, that's awesome. Sorry for your grandpa's loss. I teach my students about his work every year. I'm glad more people appreciate his work now, than they did when he was alive. I know i do.

Great person indeed
just WONDERFUL! I certainly appreciate Mr. Bentley's beautiful gift to society.

Love Elinor Bentley's snowflake earrings. You just know that she's a great gal with that sparkle dangling from her ears and in her eyes.
Her last name was Merle, not Bentley. She was a friend, not family.
thanks for this documentary...I wish I could met him...
Me too so I could touch snow for the first time
