    It would be interesting if Nike offered different uppers on a 'Nike by you' Vaporfly. Could be a very popular product.

    • @davidh5429
      @davidh5429 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Even better if they offered to select both uppers and midsole. Imagine the lightest upper "V1 next vaporweave" on the best midsole "V1 next midsole"
      Yeah it's pretty terrible imo how the first still is superior.

    I always appreciate your honesty and I share your minority preference for the V1. I also prefer the upper of the V1 > V2. The plasticky upper wrapped the inner arch of the foot almost like a plastic band-aid -- I mean that as a compliment! I could never get my foot locked into V2 and, given this review, fear the same for V3. V1s were incredible in the rain as well -- shed the moisture better than anything I've seen elsewhere!

    Just bought my 1st pair of vaporflys V3. Think they will probably be a 5km 10km shoe for me but excited for the 1st run.

    Thanks for the comparison video. I have my 5K and 10K PB's in the Vaporfly V1. I have 2 pairs of the V2 I bought for $100 each at a Nike Clearance Store. I have never run in the V2;s...waiting until I wear out the V1's.

    Great to hear your thoughts Andy. I've got the 3 coming so really interested to see what it's like. I'll guess my thoughts, I don't think I'll like the extra width, and prefer the more instability of the 1 & 2, prefer the edge over stability, hey but let's see 😮 😂

    I 100% agree with your comments about the v1 - best version of the Vaporfly to date. Wish I could buy some more pairs - far superior to v2. Wish I could still find some v1s on sale somewhere. V3 appears to be a step back towards v1, so think I might save up for a pair of them.

  • @cameronthaijohnson
    @cameronthaijohnson ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I will agree in v2 being firmer and worse in the midsole and v3 does feel like it gets back in the v1 midsole feel. I will say that I was a 9.5 in the v1, 9 in v2 (my usual size) and 8.5 in v3. The lockdown was really bad in my normal 9 for v3 but it is fine in the 8.5.
    v3 does have a touch less of the aggressive angled toeoff of v1/v2, but it is still so light and nimble for faster stuff and I think a bit more comfortable because of that for longer cruising races.

  • @SagasuRunning
    @SagasuRunning ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe I just have a Nike shaped foot… but the VF3 fits me the “best” yet. No bunching, great lockdown and ample room in the toe box with no crushed toenails anymore. In fact the new upper on the VF3 is a complete revelation to me. Nike did an outstanding job with it and it’s my second best upper of the year.
    However, I do agree that the Vaporweave upper on the VF1 was the best lockdown and race fit, which is what you want on a race shoe. It was a toe crusher for me ( volume, not length, as the toe box had very low volume)… but in a race shoe I’m fine with that.
    As for the midsole and outsole the VF3 is significantly better overall, especially for longer distances. Yes, some of the directness is gone from it (Indiscussed this in my review on my channel) but it still works well anywhere. The Adidas Takumi Sen 9 really is that more direct racing flat feel the VF1/2 used to have, dialed up a few notches.
    I’m also finding that the Streakfly compliments the VF3 very well now for shorter speed work, up to about a mile. There is a logical transition between the two now, which wasn’t there with the VF1/2.

  • @Pietrotherunningfarmer
    @Pietrotherunningfarmer ปีที่แล้ว

    I Just put them on and I have to agree with you about the upper. The midsole feels good but I think they would have nailed it if they have used a similar upper as in the Invincibile 3.

  • @jomelltan9296
    @jomelltan9296 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like that it is lighter than v2. Same feeling with alpha but the energy return for me is better in v1 and v2. I still need more runs in this this shoe to appreciate it more.

  • @Arki2019
    @Arki2019 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I see lots of complaints about upper and lockdowns on many channels, must say it’s something I’ve never had issues with on pretty much any shoe. Wonder if it’s specific foot types that suffer this🤔

  • @stephenrobinson4449
    @stephenrobinson4449 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Absolutely loving the VF3. VF1 and VF2 I found issues with , VF4%FK was my favourite until the VF3. I haven't had an issue with the upper at all. VF1 and VF2 gave me issues collapsing inwards on forefoot , not such issue with VF3 (or the VF4%FK). Just sublime.

    • @danielsilvester4242

      I loved the 4% and never got on with V1 and V2. Do you feel the underfoot feeling is similar to the 4%? Thank you

    • @stephenrobinson4449
      @stephenrobinson4449 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@danielsilvester4242 I found the upper and possibly the midsole design of the V1 and V2 would result in me overpronating in the forefoot. I actually had an iD version of the Vf2 with flyknit upper and that did help a bit. I found the VF3 much better in both the upper and the midsole design/shape works better for me. I still had a VF4%FK and against this the VF3 is more comfortable , responsive and cushioned and the upper is more accomodating of the toes also.

      @@stephenrobinson4449 thank you. Have a pair on the way so keeping my fingers crossed they work for me. I found the cushion and response on the VF4% worked so well for me and just could not ever get that feeling in V1 and V2.

    VF3 with atom knit upper (non-stretchy) would probably be a good compliment to the shoe. There just seems to be way too much stretch to that new upper. I can see those holes picking up tons of dirt and small stones which can be painful or lead to blisters/hotspots. I'm still using the AF1, and not looking forward to replacing it. I don't feel I'm fast enough or have the right foot strike to wear the VF's at anything but 5/10km, so I've stayed away from the shoe.

  • @robertw4918
    @robertw4918 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I am in the V3 camp. V3 > V1 > V2. I couldn't run in V2. The upper never felt right on the V2 and the foam was too stiff for me.

    • @robertw4918

    Hi Andy, i d never have the chance to try V1s, and never really enjoyed V2s, i do prefer my AF V1s and mostly my V2s, but yesterday i ran with my VF2s volt as yours....and don’t know why i enjoyed them and felt them very fast ....maybe because i run à bit faster than last year ...i did a threshold workout 1’/1’ at 3’50 to 3’20/km and they were great lol....but yeah the lockdown and especially the mouvement of the anckles is not great that s why i do prefer the AF v2s....which are more stable for me. But i’d like to try the VF v3s if i can get them at a nice price ....i just ordered some AF v2s Pink for 194€ instead of 310€ 😅....i’d like to try some lighter shoes for my next Marathon but i need that kind of good lockdown and stabilité i have in the AF v2 thanx for all your reviews about the VF3s 👏👏👏💪😉🇫🇷

    Do you use runners knot?
    I find the plate so stiff you need a runners knot. It is a 2:1 pulley, that’s why runners knot works so well.

    i only own a V1, and it feels very fast for me. I ran season best times last year over 3k, 5k and 20k in the shoes......but despite feeling slower i like the Artist and the Noosa Tri.........
    i guess, the more you race in the old V1, the earlier they will be worn down and no replacements available. If i were you, i would not do a single run in the V1 until you find a shoe you like more or you decide to go for a PB in a marathon

    All three great shoes. V1 & V2 are the same. V3 is more stable and has better grip than V1 & V2 - its loads more forgiving if you don't get a perfect landing. Looks like you are not using a runners knot therefore missing out on lockdown.

  • @brokenfreddy7676
    @brokenfreddy7676 ปีที่แล้ว

    The V1 was atrocious..V2 is not much better but at least your feet can breath a little..the main issues for me the lockdown is poor and the forefoot is only good for 35-40 miles before the cushioning is dead..if I have to use a heel lockdown lace that says the shoe is not designed properly..a good shoe should be a step in ,tie it up and run..anything else is a poor design..my " by you" version has a knit upper, a straight laceup and waffle outsole..if I get a good course with a flat smooth surface where I can set it and forget it and gradually wind up the speed to full tilt boogie in the last mile of a 5k ,there is no other shoe I ever used thats as fast..and I do have every other shoe to choose from but if conditions are not perfect I would use a different shoe ..usually the alphafly..

    Hi
    I am looking to buy vaporfly 3 but purpose is for running on tredmill.
    My query is - is this shoe good for running on tredmill.
    I normally run 7-8 miles every day.
    So my most important question is that what is a life of vaporfly 3
    How much it last when running on tredmill.

    • @TheFODRunner
      @TheFODRunner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t know how it is running on a treadmill as I haven’t tried that yet! I think the foam will last a long time, the rubber outsole I am not so sure!

      150/200 miles out on roads… that’s my guess!

    • @gauravnagpal3281
      @gauravnagpal3281 ปีที่แล้ว

      @The FOD Runner Thanks for the update .
      So this means that this shoe is only and only for running marathon and not for daily indoor running for 7 miles per day .
      So which shoe u suggest for the same.
      Is Nike invincible 3 is good ?

    Nope, I am sticking to the V2 (V1) for now. Not convinced by the V3.
    Also hardly seeing any Nike Pros wearing the V3 in races, they stick to the V2, seems to be a reason for that. ;)

    You're tying your laces wrong, that's why the foot locking is not sufficient especially at the back. Use the last hole to tie your laces (racer's loop).
