  • In this video the professor #neildegrassetyson at the podcast of #joerogan explains where the theory of Albert Einstein's (General Relativity) breaks down. It becomes invalid in the #blackhole and the #bigbang. Watch the video for the full details.
    Neil deGrasse Tyson is an #american #astrophysicist , #author, and #science #communicator. Tyson studied at #harvarduniversity , the University of #texas at #austin , and #columbiauniversity . From 1991 to 1994, he was a #postdoctoral #research associate at #princetonuniversity .
#alberteinstein was a German born #theoretical #physicist, widely acknowledged to be one of the #greatest and most #influential #physicists of all time. #einstein is best known for #developing the theory of #relativity, but he also made important contributions to the development of the #theory of #quantum #mechanics ....

Actually, the singularity in the theory of relativity refers to a point in space and time where the laws of physics as we understand them break down. It's not that we are dividing by zero or that the theory becomes meaningless, but rather that our current understanding of physics cannot explain what is happening at that point.

It's sort of accurate tho, division by 0 gets anything as a result. That's why it's undefined, it's because we have no clue what the outcome is. In that way, a division by 0 at the singlularity means anything can happend. The math holds up (if 0*a =0*b then a can be anything and b can be any other thing. Divide by 0 and you get a =b which is the actual problem and why we can't divide by 0, cause a and b can be any thing you can possibly think of)

That's why we need a theory of quantum gravity to explain how gravity works at a quantum level which can happen in certain very extreme conditions , as said in the video the singularity point of a black hole or the very beginning of the Universe the very first moments of the Big Bang and after the Big Bang there quantum fluctuations and dark matter played a big role into spreading the matter throughout space and solving the uniformities of the Universe thus allowing for the creation of galaxies and the space we know today ! And that's why the most promising theory is the String Theory

Actually saying we're divided by 0 is the best way to describe what happends. A division by 0 is "undefined" because we have no fucking clue what the outcome of a division by 0 is. It can be anything, mathematically. Think a/b =c as a =bc. If b is 0, then a is 0 and c is anything (cause whatever x 0 is 0) or it's absurd.

@@jodainlafeuillee9103 sure. That just gets you "a lot". Anything but 0 is properly defined. Divide a by something close to zero but positive, assuming a is positive, it tends towards infinity which is just a lot. Divide by smth close to 0 but negative, that's negative infinity. So a lot but negative. Divide by 0 and we have no fucking clue what happends. It's simple math.
