Is consulting bad for Software Engineers? Junior Software developers should aspire to work at Software consulting firms at the beginning of their career, as opposed to working for big tech companies. And here's why i think that is true..

Hard to get into consulting if you're not from a top college

I don’t think that’s true. If you show enough projects and background in the role you’re applying for, you can sure get in. Plus in the consulting world it’s more about who you know. So if you’ve the right connections, it’s relatively easy to open the door.

@@aslah but how do you convince unknown people to give you a referral? I've a little idea. I'm still on the first step which is building my profile. Then I'll try cold calling.

@@mango-strawberry no need for cold calling. Just a DM would do! Companies give referral bonuses for referring talent. So I don’t think anyone would say no to referring someone, if you simply ask them straight forward.
