“Crashes” in computing are often thought of as periods of pause to adapt to changing technology and needs. The shift from supercomputers to PCs, then to mobile computing and cloud computing, is more a testament to continued innovation than a true “crash.”
There a very little and trivial error in this (awesome!) video: Intel had 8086 and 8088 processors for sale, but the 8088 was the one used for the IBM PC (and, later, XT). Both are 16-bit internally, but the 8088 has an 8-bit external data bus that allows cheaper and fewer ICs. The Olivetti M24, for example, used the 8086.
It's such a rush to know about the development of computer software and hardware in the 60s and 70s, as it seems every enterprise was run by either movie villains or scrappy, unlikely heroes with something to prove. Do you know about SORD Corp.?
i've been watching your videos since the original format of your channel, i absolutely love this style and all the beautiful art and such, thank you!!!!! you also put f4mi on the map for me and she's one of my other favorite creators now : )
Oh yeah first thing I thought when reading title is the in crapfication of modern computer designed to break faster and not last as long as older computers. I don't mean the hardware going out of date cause technology progresses I'm talking about the computer just deciding not to work because of terrible design choices to make it break
Deseo! Ansió! En verdad que el "success" que tienes en este canal también lo tengas en el de español!!! Thanks for all your effort, I really hope you can live due these channels
Speaking of cloned chips, look into the story of an NEC floppy controller that cost Toshiba $2 billion for a bug that was never demonstrated to have any occurrence in real world usage.
Wild how tech pioneers are thought of as jobs and gates on one end, Allen Turing on the other end, but barely anyone knows who bridges the before times and the after times. Faggin is essentially the coming of Jesus for computers. Thank you for your work computer Jesus. Edit: your thumbnail makes way more sense after my little revelation
huhh i tought he stoped making videos... since his last video i never noticed any of hiss videos again this is the first one in the 2 years sincehe droped the video
I liked your videos. You introduced me to Faggin's work and he became a role model for me. But the voice you gave him in the remake is so terrible, I can't rewatch it. It's awfully degrading for him
What has Frederico Faggin done to you to deserve for being described as a drunk? The man has done more for computing then complete armies of engineers working for the traditional chip manufacturers. He was truly innovative, what these giants at Zilog have done in the seventies and eighties with Z80 is in 2024 stil relevant. He must have earned some credit?

Typo, 'Dead' needs to be changed to 'Death'
Honestly I saw "death" and hadn't noticed this till reading your comment lol.
How many languages do you speak?
@@Katchi_ It ain't that deep, brother.
@@expansionpack4485 If you consider the guy is from Spain and probably speaks at least 3 then it is.
@@cesar_otonielit is impressive being bilingual but I assume the other language is Italian whitch is very simular to Spanish.

I love that you interview actual historical people involved in the stories
So glad you’re back!! Been waiting so long!!

These are literally just reuploads

Lovin the VAs lately.
What are VAs?

Great video man, keep it up
The founders of Zilog sound like my kinda people.
18:47 Noodle Networks? Sounds amazing!

Very fascinating.

"there's a bug in the processor!"
Me: "...No Problem."

I appreciate the shinra music for the evil corporation :)
noodle networks... yummi ...
I prefer to original video voices.
The f 14 used a chip set that some say may be the first micro processor
Ah yes the born, death, and reborn.
W🙌🏻W ⛄Happy Holidays 🎄🍻
7:42 Is it normal I do'nt see any video with that thumbnail in your video collection?
that was the thumbnail when the original version of this video was made. it's since been replaced, and I guess it wasn't also switched out here
I think the old voice for Faggin, Masatoshi Shima and miscellaneous is better than this one
Not sure if your nebula contract ended dumping all these videos at once might have hurt any momentum to get anyone other then your subs to watch them.
Want your mind blown?
See what Federico Faggin is up to these days (which I personally respect & agree with ('woo-woo')).
Hard to understand without captions.
Compared to original edition, subtitles currently are much, much worse.
Is this how it really happened🍿🍿...WHAAAT!!!
fpga is the next, yep, generic specific, instead of generic generic
There's a typo in the title. "Dead" should say "Death".
Please make videos about AMD, ATI and Linux
huhh

Tiny nitpick... use the old Intel logo ("drop e") instead of the recently-replaced one at the start of the video.
I prefer the original voiceover. It was more humorous.
What are noodle networks?
Lol

@deabreu.tattoo lol, ik
But he totally said "noodle networks"
Must be like instagram, but only for Ramen

Ok. But where is the birth, death of "Computing" here?

I kinda liked the videos more without the VAs.

Lmao, apples always had better touchpads, wild revisionist history that the cheapest method was the most advanced.
You goofed up the title
You meant to type "death" not "dead"
First(also typo in title!)
Never realized that Intel was a GARBAGE Company before, like they are currently right now. Damn, Intel got F-ING LUCKY.
