Apples and Oranges. Billy’s voice is WAY easier to sing than Axl’s. It’s all monotone. Axl for better or worse added in a lot of special effects into his singing, which is now much harder to replicate at 60.
Again. Apples and Oranges. Billy has a very basic range, he rarely uses high pitch range. Axl uses ALOT of high pitch range. You or I could sing a Billy Idol song fairly easily. Especially a Sex Pistols song that wasn’t known for its vocal range. Neither you or I could sing welcome to the jungle or paradise city very easily. Axl was a vocal gymnast as a teen which again, has become his demise later in life. If he sang like Billy Idol he would be able to reproduce those sounds far more easily.
