First: First: Anna Matteo reads a winning entry from the "Teach Us about Ukraine" writing contest sponsored by VOA Learning English and GoGlobal. Ukrainian English teacher Oleksandra Kravchenko wrote the piece. It is called Berdychiv: Town of Greatness.
Next: The planet Mars is slowly releasing methane gas. Scientists are trying to learn why. Some are investigating if methane could be trapped under hardened pieces of salt in the frozen Martian soil. Bryan Lynn tells all about it on the LE Science and Technology Report. Then, Dan Novak welcomes Bryan for a chat about the report. What is special about methane gas that makes scientists so curious, Dan wonders. Bryan's got answers.
And finally: The LE Lesson of the Day. Andrew Smith and Jill Robbins base their instruction on the LE video series Let's Learn English. Today's they explore how English connects words, spellings and sounds...and how sometimes the connections are hard to recognize.
