- ›› Day 1 (Monday) of attempting to vlog every day for a week! Today I lunged both Welbeck and Khal over trotting poles which I find is a great exercise to build muscle and strengthen their top line. After that, I finally gave Welbeck a long overdue makeover! I also attempted to fix her mane only with scissors, no pulling. The results were questionable but I'm happy enough and she certainly looks a lot better than she did before!

A good way of getting a thicker tail is putting coconut or Argon oil in it every other day and only brushing it like once a month☺️ really helps it grow fast and look super nice, shiny and thick xx

So much hard work. I stopped riding years ago because of health reasons. But, I remember spending long summer days at the barn washing and cleaning up my horse. Such great memories! Can't wait for all the videos this week!!😊❤💕

What is your advice for riding in hot weather? How hot does it have to be for you to avoid riding as it’s too hot for your horse? Thanks X
You can "pull" a mane with scissors! Do the backcombing bit of pulling, then instead of wrapping the strands and pulling just cut them to the length you want. Gives a more natural finish without hurting or stressing out your horse :)

Hey Holly - my vet told me today my new horse is sore over her back and lacking muscle - top line so getting some ideas on building top line and thinking of lunging in persoa twice a week for 20 minutes with the trotting poles also. Would you say that was enough?
My thoroughbred mare grows mane like an andalusian stallion. Not kidding. It gets way past her neck and is thick to the point where if I dont brush it everyday there is no hope. I just cut it short for the summer (I never pull the manes because she hates it) but will let it grow back for winter. She has a thinner tail though.
When you spray detangler in your horse tail be sure to let it dry completly THEN brush it out (best result then)

Welbeck is so gorgeous her coat is such a beautiful color. Doesn’t it kill you just a little after you put in all the work and 5 minutes after they get in the field they roll? They seem to find the muddiest puddle in a whole field and go down on it. I swear.
After having a light grey/white horse and grey, I’m still traumatized a little.🤣

What lunging device are you using? My gelding needs help stretching long and low and a normal surcingle and side reins don’t seem to be cutting it.

You can use a long set of reins or lead rope. We use split reins and tie them over the back to make them one piece! Super simple and cheap!

Holly Lenahan I like how thick the red part is to distribute the pressure across the back... sadly I can’t find anyone in the US who carries it 😢 I'm looking into ordering from the UK.
