Kel is still stuck on his old emotions, always using the fact that "they all used to be friends" as a reasoning to stop fighting. Our theory is that he didn'd end up facing the trauma as much as the others and just internalized everything, leaving him in an inbetween state where he is atill heavily dependant to their childhood while still going forward, not pretending that nothing happened, but struggling with coming to terms with its consequences. Hero is the only one that actually fought back and moved on. I will not elaborate futher neither on what the trauma is nor what we base our thoughts on, because it would mean spoiling future events. the reason why sunny used a knife on Aubrey was that he was in his dreams so long that with instinct he did it, forgetting in real life it has legit damages.

It is fact that Sunny hasn’t left his house in four years. His dream counterpart, Omori’s name is a reference to the Hikikomori culture in Japan where people will live, work, stay isolated at home and never leave. And there isn’t really any particular reason why Sunny answers the door- again, they give you the choice, so you can actually go back to bed and stay in your dream world. But that takes a completely different route saved mostly for after you’ve finished the main game.
i love how the game disillusions you into thinking fighting is normal, then, when you go to attack aubrey, well… it does a great job of almost getting you into sunny’s mindset
I think that when Sunny stabbed Aubrey is my favorite moment in the game... ik that sounds bad but I feel like it just so perfectly showed how hard it is for Sunny to differentiate reality from headspace. And as a player behind the screen I just sat back in awe, like up till now we have been fighting and stabbing and killing things in headspace and personally I didn't think much about it "that's how games are, you fight stuff" and when I started the fight with Aubrey I also didn't think much about it, I was thinking that I might need to beat her but that she obviously wouldn't die right? I mean its a video game and she's a main character. but when Sunny stabs her and she reacts the way she does it was just such a moment of like awe at the game. Like I was already invested because of basil, my beloved, but when that happened in the park... I think it just hooked me in the game. also made all the characters feel more real.
i feel you already mostly suspect it, but i will say that while it's never explicitly said, Berly=Kim, as if you put Kim+Berly together you get Kimberly! as for all the other biker gang members, i can confirm that all of them can be found in the Headspace park as well, although some more obvious than others.
(Spoilers) Sunny's plushies are also in headspace and have taken the personality of real people, like Happy is a plushie but has taken the personality of Joy
While Aubrey can seem like a bit of a b*tch, there's a lot of depth to her character and I reccomend really looking into every character, bc they're each super unique and cool!
Epic tip: Doing side quests in Faraway Town (Real world, duh) doesn't actually affect the Dreamworld/Headspace. But doing *every* sidequests on each day _does_ gives you a steam achievement, you'll know it when you see it.
And he also made a rom hack of earthbound where megalovania was first created, worked with homestuck, made a song that kicked him out of homestuck, slipped that song on Pokemon sword and shield
Annnnd we're back to the real world! These sections are my absolute favorite parts of the game, and I'm glad that you made this video a little longer because I was really curious about how you'd react to Sunny reuniting with his old friends. A lot's changed over the years, and... well, the mystery only thickens, from here on out. Also, I know you're probably not reading comments, and I won't give any specific spoilers, but there's a really cool (and dare I say important, for character reasons) scene that you can easily miss by not going through a certain door in the church, when you get up to that part. I hope you find it!
While the whole thing with Berly at the start of the episode seems a bit iffy, I feel like you were reading a bit too much into it. Van seemed entirely willing to put up with Berly's antics and wasn't really hurt. Oh I can already tell it'll be fun watching you put the pieces together about stuff! I really like both parts of the game, Headspace and the real world. They both bring very different but equally important aspects to the game.
You're in the meat of it now. Love the longer watch time! This stuff is something you should take your time with, for sure, so I'm glad you're soaking it all in and giving us your take on this side of the game.
To me "All it costs is your love" just means she's helping you because you love her or something along those lines. ie just a cute way of saying it doesn't cost you anything at all, she's helping you out of love.
I love your theory crafting this video! It gives me kind of the sense of a counselor working through the information their client has given them to figure out what is going on and how they can help. I dunno, maybe this is just a combination of you being a counselor and myself studying in the field that puts my headspace in that area. Haha. But yeah, I really love games that make you think in that way. I'd definitely recommend Yume Nikki as another game to possibly try if you find you like Omori. Yume Nikki has similar story telling though leans a bit more into the horror aspect of things than Omori does. A lot of people have pointed to it as being a very likely point of inspiration for Omori (though I do not know if that has ever been confirmed). Earthbound, Undertale, Yume Nikki, and Omori can sort of be considered a quintessential quartet of cute and quirky visuals combined with surprisingly deep themes wrapped in compelling narratives.
35:28 Omori is supposed to be set around the late 1990s to early 2000s, so yeah, things like Facebook don't even exist yet, or at least not in the form they do now. These are the days of still using BBSes as chat rooms.
make sure to give the charms that give extra speed to kel because of the skills he has later on using speed instead of damage, which can be increased by flexing and with correct emotion against a foe can deal a lot more damage than you might think
I'm very sure you missed hero's new weapon in the junkyard which comes with the "snack time" skill which is very helpful in battle since it heals all friends! i think it's more wise to make hero the designated healer instead of making him attack at every opportune moment
Fun fact that might help you: Many youtubers skip over this, but if you want money there is many ways to get some in the game, if you collect trash you get 1 dollar each, you can work in the pizza place Gino's and help the fish lady in the store for 20 dollars, you can work in fix it for 30 dollars, and if you go the posters in the store you can do a side quest that will give you 20 dollars per day to help tutor a child. You already have seen some of it though so that is good
spoilers I think it also shows how they each dealt with maris death. hero was sad, kel put on a happy facade and tried to move on with his life, aubrey was very angry that everyone moved on so quickly, and sunny (from an outside perspective) remained neutral/emotionless
I love how there's an reason for this game being a cute mess riddled with darker undertones, because in a way, the game is repressing those themes just as much as Sunny is. The switch is not just for gameplay shock value between darker and lighter themes, it's a reality being sugar-coated and laced with Sunny's coping mechanism so it works well story-wise. There's nothing more bittersweet than covering yourself with happy things only to realize that they aren't real anymore.
honestly this game is so nostalgic for me. the faraway town reminds me so much of my birthplace that i spent my happiest years in - like casually talking to strangers, knowing the shopkeepers, all adults looked after the kids even without knowing them, playing with some random kid you never learned the name of and getting thirsty so youd have a group of kids just coming into one anothers house and the parents happily giving them all food and drinks… just the warm and welcoming feeling of a small town

don't shout at kel for being indecisive when getting hero a gift, man! i'm totally like him when it comes to picking out stuff...it's a sort of like "i don't know what i'm looking for but i'll tell you when i see it." it's not easy to try to think what someone would want sometimes.
alright my guess about the game so far is this: We seem to have some not so great parents going by the fact that our mom just left us alone for days on end and instead of coming back earlier went to a furniture sale. I think when we were younger we had some really close friends that helped us through our not so great home life. We slowly lost our friends one by one, whether it was a slow drift apart, or moving away. We now have this world in our heads from back before when we were all friends, a fantastical place where everything is perfect and we can be with our friends. But it's not working, we can't find Basil and I would guess things might start happening to others too. The reality of what happened is seeping through the cracks of our perfect world, and breaking it apart.
I really hope she is really avoiding comments like she says that she it. So many of these comments reveal way too much. I don't think most people mean for their comments to spoil anything, but these "keep on eye on X going forward" or "yea, your idea about this character or theme is right" or "make sure you do this one story related thing in this place you haven't been yet" are functionally the same as spoilers in terms of how it will impact how people experience the story going forward.

i love how the game disillusions you into thinking fighting is normal, then, when you go to attack aubrey, well… it does a great job of almost getting you into sunny’s mindset

“Do you have religious figurines?”
WHY IS THIS SO FUNNY-
Just to clarify,
Dream world:
Aubrey, Kel, Omori, Basil: 11-12
Mari, Hero: 14-15
Real world:
Aubrey, Kel, Sunny, Basil: 16-17
Mari, Hero: 18-19
Haha, i think you forgot Mari in the real world, aren't you a silly goose?
@@Matt-td8xw oh
@@Matt-td8xw yeah i forgot
@@Matt-td8xwHaha...
19:30 "Like we're trying to remember something sad. We're happy it existed but it's bittersweet" Oh sweetie, you have no idea
i feel you already mostly suspect it, but i will say that while it's never explicitly said, Berly=Kim, as if you put Kim+Berly together you get Kimberly! as for all the other biker gang members, i can confirm that all of them can be found in the Headspace park as well, although some more obvious than others.
(Spoilers)
Sunny's plushies are also in headspace and have taken the personality of real people, like Happy is a plushie but has taken the personality of Joy
While Aubrey can seem like a bit of a b*tch, there's a lot of depth to her character and I reccomend really looking into every character, bc they're each super unique and cool!
_SPOILERS_ _AAA_
"We can't all have a memory like OMORI's..."
Dissociative amnesia: Uh well... *about* *that*

HAJAHAHIRHENA FOULLL
Epic tip:
Doing side quests in Faraway Town (Real world, duh) doesn't actually affect the Dreamworld/Headspace.
But doing *every* sidequests on each day _does_ gives you a steam achievement, you'll know it when you see it.
So many flowers
Toby Fox Is a indie developer and composer. He made Undertale, Deltarune, and a song for Pokemon Sword and Shield
Yes! Definitely go through that door in the church and explore over there for an optional scene that is important for the story!
You're the first player I've seen remember that Sunny was carrying a knife! xD and the only one who was relieved when it was taken away
by opening the door you went on the right route. good job.
1:23:11 imagine just trying to take your kid or a younger sibling to the park and you see this
"Wait. Is Sunny depressed?"
Oh you have no idea
This is where the fun happens
This is going to be a ride
While the whole thing with Berly at the start of the episode seems a bit iffy, I feel like you were reading a bit too much into it. Van seemed entirely willing to put up with Berly's antics and wasn't really hurt.
Oh I can already tell it'll be fun watching you put the pieces together about stuff!
I really like both parts of the game, Headspace and the real world. They both bring very different but equally important aspects to the game.
''I just wanna save, Basil!'' Everyone else: I just wanna save Basil!
Im glad you enjoying the game the longger you progress in this game the more you question everything (trust me...some of us did)
You're in the meat of it now.
Man i cant wait for the next episode i love everyones reaction to kel and aubrey and basil
44:40 This is why Kel is my favorite character 🤣🤣🤣
IN TODAY'S EPISODE, WE DISASSOCIATE WHILE SHOPPING AND STAB A FORMER CHILDHOOD FRIEND. JOIN US AND FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT~

I have really started to look forward to these videos.
I watch them as soon as I see they are up!
"and a lightbulb"
oh honey
Lol same
I love this game so much, hope you enjoy it !
It's all fun and games 'til Sunny pulls a knife.
let's go!! welcome to reality
make sure to give the charms that give extra speed to kel because of the skills he has later on using speed instead of damage, which can be increased by flexing and with correct emotion against a foe can deal a lot more damage than you might think
You already have seen some of it though so that is good
120 dollars per day + money from trash and cents on the floor, a lot of money
I feel like the real world gangs emotion states are as the same as the emotion guide book: Kel is happy, Aubrey is angry and Hero is probably sad
spoilers
I think it also shows how they each dealt with maris death. hero was sad, kel put on a happy facade and tried to move on with his life, aubrey was very angry that everyone moved on so quickly, and sunny (from an outside perspective) remained neutral/emotionless
1:08:05 Toby Fox is the guy who made undertale
AHHHH I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS THE REAL WORLD IS SO GOOD
1:08:05
you probably don't know, but "Toby Fox" is the creator of undertale :^D
I love how there's an reason for this game being a cute mess riddled with darker undertones, because in a way, the game is repressing those themes just as much as Sunny is.
The switch is not just for gameplay shock value between darker and lighter themes, it's a reality being sugar-coated and laced with Sunny's coping mechanism so it works well story-wise.
There's nothing more bittersweet than covering yourself with happy things only to realize that they aren't real anymore.
Just woke up and check the subscription list.
The part with Mincy was really encouraging with what she said about the situation
honestly this game is so nostalgic for me. the faraway town reminds me so much of my birthplace that i spent my happiest years in - like casually talking to strangers, knowing the shopkeepers, all adults looked after the kids even without knowing them, playing with some random kid you never learned the name of and getting thirsty so youd have a group of kids just coming into one anothers house and the parents happily giving them all food and drinks… just the warm and welcoming feeling of a small town
1:23:38 your reaction is perfect
Im pretty sure they just cut her and everyone thinks they actually stabbed aubrey -_-
you can use the train station when you get back, but it is 100% OPTIONAL
Hopefully she doesn't go there yet, I went to Dino's Dig right after this Faraway Town section and got traumatized
@@StellarChimes (SPOILERS FOR THOOSE WHO HAVENT FINISHED BEWARE)...
also hector is there which is an amazing item for endgame outside of hikikomori route
@@insertnamehere1398 (SPOILERS FOR DINO'S DIG))
yeah, I recently got Hector Jr. but it was the scariest experience yet in the game for me because I had my entire party turned into toast by a Porcupie
@@StellarChimes (spoilers if you didn't explore the whole area)
can people be softlocked because the unbread twins are too strong and they saved before it?
@@mariotheundying most likely, I havent met them yet so I wouldn't know (I already knew about the fight but I havent watched it)
I love hearing your thoughts and seeing you slowly piece together the story
Always a good video to come back and relax to after a day of work. Thanks for another Omori upload, loving these longer videos! I genuinely hope you find yourself invested in the world and its characters. It makes this experience wonderful. I also highly appreciate the insight into mental health themes with the game elements, it's interesting to hear an expert's knowledge.
I've been loving these videos so far, keep up that great work!
Welcome to the real world. Prologue’s over. Good luck.
Great reflections from you this video Counselor! ^^ The pieces are falling in place for you! Can't wait to hear more of your thoughts!
i know thats the point of it but i love how aware you are of everything and how you notice the little details ! its very refreshing
4:50 You know what game series will make you rethink that perspective? Shin Megami Tensei will make you love buff/debuff moves.
OH MY GOD YOU CAN ACTUALLY READ THE CHICKEN SCRATCH PIZZA DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS?
I don't know why, but whenever I watch your omori videos, I've made a habit to grab a donut for no reason 😂
LOL this is the most random comment and I love it.
Personally I am eating a chocolate muffin right now 🙃
I just want to say that I actually died when Sunny got a slinky out of the capsule machine.💀
Digging holes to build character… nice reference.
Damn, she's figuring it all out so quickly
Wait- I just realized- "Kim-Berly" 💀
You would have to wait until the trainstation line to go before you can ride the train
Really enjoying the series! I am looking forward to seeing your reactions and takes as the game continues!
And heeere starts the really juicy stuff I was waiting for your reactions to~
wooo very glad with the long uploads keep it up
don't shout at kel for being indecisive when getting hero a gift, man! i'm totally like him when it comes to picking out stuff...it's a sort of like "i don't know what i'm looking for but i'll tell you when i see it." it's not easy to try to think what someone would want sometimes.
alright my guess about the game so far is this:
We seem to have some not so great parents going by the fact that our mom just left us alone for days on end and instead of coming back earlier went to a furniture sale.
Ayyyyy long video!!!! I cant wait!!!
Absolutely spot-on interpretations so far at the ending. Much fun!
oooo!! another Omori video! **clicks fast**
EEEE I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
I really hope she is really avoiding comments like she says that she it. So many of these comments reveal way too much. I don't think most people mean for their comments to spoil anything, but these "keep on eye on X going forward" or "yea, your idea about this character or theme is right" or "make sure you do this one story related thing in this place you haven't been yet" are functionally the same as spoilers in terms of how it will impact how people experience the story going forward.
IKR, like I'm happy that so many fans want to help out and give others a good experience. But giving to much information could also ruin it aswell. That's why its best to go into OMORI blind
