They are often filled with dry fruits and the one that he is eating looks exactly like some of the ones I had before, it is probably filled with a dried apricot. You might think that dried apricots are nasty or something but weirdly in those candies I really like them, also the texture of crunchy and then soft and chewy is just - chefs kiss - (the crunch comes from a coating much like skittels or m&m's)
