Glad a doctor is talking about diet and lifestyle to prevent chronic conditions 💜💐

Med schools keep churning out Pill sales reps instead of actual wholistic health care doctors...

    1. Diet is healthy- Mediterranean diet is very good. Avoid simple carbohydrates
    2. Cognitive activity. More education, read, new things travel etc. More Synaptic connections built.
    3. Good uninterrupted 8 hours of sleep. Stages of sleep cycles good . Slow wave sleep important to clean up brain debris. REM for memory consolidation. 4 hours sleep or less for days increases risk of altzheimers.
    4. No as in never, use alcohol because it destroys healthy sleep. Neurotoxins too. Chronic alcohol causes vitamin deficiency. Like vitamin B 1
    5. No Smoking- vascular disease
    6. Social activities in person. Volunteering is good.
    7. Exercise. Vigorous or longer physical exercise in a moderate level. Good hormones more synaptic helps hymplcampis- osteocalcion release helps hypocampys health.
I forgot the rest of it. 😃
    Forgive the many typos.
I’m struck by the fact that these are basic and simple and we probably have seen this list many times for different things… like dental health, finding happiness, managing burnout….
it’s like a broken record. Thank you Doctor- I know what I need to do- I do love sugar and I love to stay up late for example.
Question- What about mental rest like meditation, prayer, active relaxation? I might add that too.

If Cognition ability is finite - shouldn't people do the opposite of 2 ? Focus on repeditive tasks, routine, same thing every day... toothbrush in the same place every morning, etc. Then the memory is quite SET everything in it's place and no confusion because they are in a calm and predictable environment ?
Avoid listening to news casts and avoid watching TV and films. Focus all Cognition on repetitive habits, work, exercise and relaxation ?

That would just be subconscious muscle memory, and not necessarily good for the brain 🧠. Like mindlessly reciting the alphabet. You need to keep growing and repairing your brain, and that requires creativity which your sad robotic list excludes. I wouldn’t try that, if I were you.😊

Thank you loads. You made this information relatable, easy to understand, easy to think through and apply to our own lifestyles. I especially like that you explain the benefits of change and consequences of not changing as I have a curious mind and as they say ‘knowledge is power’ … I continue to learn lots of validated important information from you. Please keep it coming exactly the way that you share it with us. You are appreciated 💚

Just this week I saw a sleep expert in a London hospital say 8hrs sleep is unrealistic and many people have genetically restricted sleep windows. You need what is best for you.
In the case of women and dementia - there is a link with oestrogen deficiency increasing the risk of Alzheimer’s, worth mentioning?

4:24 That seems completely wrong. You are over stimulating the mind with garbage data. Do the opposite, stop watching TV news, stop watching movies, focus on an organized environment. Everything in it's place: the tooth brush always in the same place, the shirts and pants organized and always in the same place. Focus on repetitive tasks, set routines, set times, always the same. No confusion, no stress. Light exercise in a controlled environment. Human brains are designed for the small village environment with few or little changes. but today the data rate is thousands of times higher, excitoxic. Data wasting memory storage with trivia, distractions, and time wasters. Clear out the clutter and trash from the mind, and from the environment, simplify, simplify. As Henry David Thoreau explained in his book Walden Pond.

You're right. Too much stimulation(tv,phone, people, etc) confuses the mind. End up not thinking clearly and doing stupid things like shooting neurotoxins in your arm and thinking that will keep you healthy.

Does women have more of a % to getting Dementia, than men ?
It's heredity, but mostly it's my dad's sisters and their adult (kids ) .
Dad ( he didn't have dementia before his passing ) was the only brother.
What's the chances myself would end up with Dementia?
