This is a great video. I'm a beginner, but I've written drafts for two novels. One is done and the other one will be done shortly.
I wrote them in pencil on legal pads, so next step is to type them in my pc. I feel this is best for me, I can edit the draft as
    I go.

Thank you 🙏🙂 have a great week, I appreciate the detailed steps, it lit a little fire under me!
Are there any good places to get freelance work for book cover designs aside from Fiverr and such?

Ah glad to hear this. In terms of cover design, I do tend to use a particular person on Fiverr who I think is great. I'll dig out her profile. Otherwise, you can have a go yourself relatively easily and quickly on Canva. Depending on what you want to achieve, you can create something very professional looking this way. I did a video on this last week. When I'm back at my computer, I'll post both links. Have a lovely week yourself!

@@nicolanovelist Okay thanks, I guess I should have prefaced with my previous experience in graphic design. Thank you for letting me know fiverr is something you use and it works for you! I'll check out canva also.

@@Loki_Dokie If you have previous graphic design experience then making your own is the way to go imo. Just do your research on the genre (this video talks about that th-cam.com/video/cf0olhGvvms/w-d-xo.html ) - the canva instructional vid is here but you might need that less :) th-cam.com/video/WTIsRRZU5WA/w-d-xo.html

I have written an anthology of poems but I have no idea how to publish it

Hi Mohamed. It really depends on what you want to achieve. First poetry pamphlets are often self-published. Or you could try to find someone else to publish it for you. Agents are not often interested in poetry and most of what I say in this video is about fiction, really. But poetry publishers local to you might be interested. Also worth keeping a look out for pamphlet competitions. I'd also get yourself out to readings and open mics if you can. It's a great way to make contacts, get feedback on your work and become part of your local poetry scene

Is an agent's submission requirements a statement on the 'quality' of the agent? It seems to me the writer should have standards as well...

I wouldn't say so. They just have different ideas about how they want to see your work. To be honest, they don't vary that widely. It is usually the letter, synopsis and writing sample. It's just the exact nature of what they want to see in terms of these things that changes a little from agent to agent
