I didn't know who was going to play him, since no one in the cast seemed like they'd be perfect for the role.
And Jim Gaffigan seems like one of those comedians who should have been on SNL (as either a writer or cast member) ages ago (like, the mid-to-late 1990s when Will Ferrell and Darrell Hammond were on there). Maybe he was one of those conedians who tried out for or was offered a chance to be on SNL and didn't make it or turned down the offer.
I said Gaffigan as soon as Walz was announced but people said No.

@@RobeLifeMusic thank you. we truly need all the help we can get - over 400 roads are still completely closed, there are ZERO ways to get up into the mountains because of flood water, rockslides, mudslides. many, many places right now are only accessible by air but even landing locations have now been compromised because of all the water and sink holes are starting to open up - it is horrifying and heartbreaking and terrifying. if there is any way anyone can please, please find a way to send food and supplies and toiletries to a charity that will get them here to help
