It feels just wrong without Jandi. Just wrong.
This edit works because the bond between the guys has enough depth and breadth that little imagination is needed to visualise a M+M relationship. To take it a step further, I think the bond could also withstand and overcome the usual jealousies inherant in two men sharing a female partner in a committed relationship (not swingers or menage as temporary novelty). I couldn't or wouldn't want to see this scenario in every second lead syndrome case, but this is one of the few dramas where I think the intercharacter dynamics would be best resolved by the evolution of a polygynous or polyamorous relationship.
I love the drama as it stands but would equally have loved to have seen the same cast with the alternate romantic structures described. Korean dramas certainly have fewer issues with M+M romantic relationship censorship but most threesomes, foursome or moresoms are males with a female harem. Most reverse harems have the female ultimately choosing a single suitor at the conclusion. Even today, polygynous polygamy is relatively common in some parts of the world and more readily accepted. Whilst cultural polyandry is relatively rare, it does exist, most notably among some Indian, Tibetan and Chinese communities.
Althought I can think of film and drama series examples of polyandry, I still think there is more scope for its depiction as a meaningful relationship option as opposed to the shaming of female sexuality. Dramas would be no less angsty and dramatic if they explored, with more frequency, the greater diversity of human relationships, be they consensual polyamourous relationships with or without the expression of nonbinary gender identity and the wider sexual orientation spectrum.
