    Hi Nathan! :) We knitted a very long scarf here (it lengths 210 cm) so we used 360m of yarn (393 yards). The original idea was to fold each end to create a scarf with pockets at the ends... Maybe for a common scarf you could use a bit less

      Hi!! How long did it take you to complete?

  • @Tuteate
    @Tuteate  9 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    Hi Julie Jones ! You will see we always skip the "sidest" peg on every row (the first one of each row) and this don't cause any issue later :)

    I would like to thank you for this post; I just completed my very first scarf for my Mother's 70th birthday, and it came off excellently! Even the cast off was a snap, as I remembered how it went from memory, thanks to your great video work! Thank you for helping to teach a 40-year old dog a new and wonderful crafting trick. Have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy (crafting) New Year!

    (😊) Hi , I have been trying to find a video which is real and I started to lose hope then I tried your idea then it worked so I literally subbed to your channel , downloaded the video , saved it , liked it , and commented on it . I took 15 hours to knit my own scarf [I spent 7.5 hours for two days ] < you can also see the pic I sent to you in the link > `````I am actually wearing the scarf while typing this comment````` (😊)

    I think the video was very good, but would rather have had spoken instruction given during the video instead of that annoying music. The music does nothing but distract attention away from the video and makes it hard to focus.

  • @Tuteate
    @Tuteate  10 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Hi Jordan! If you want to make it infinity you just need to sew both sides together (make a "0" by joining them). After finishing your standard scarf, you could place your first row and your last row on the same side of the loom (you would have a similar situation of the one we work at the end of this other project: How to Loom Knit an Infinity Scarf in Elongated Stitch using a Round Loom (DIY Tutorial)) and sew them together easily. Hope this helps!

    I have seen people take an ink pen, remove the ink stem and then use the barrel/tube as a stylus. You thread the yarn through the empty ink pen tube and then use this to wrap your yarn around the pegs of the loom. It makes looser tension but it also make wrapping the yarn around the pegs go a lot faster since the tube is narrow and can easily fit in between the pegs.

    • @starsoulsandi
      @starsoulsandi 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MILDRED PIERCE that is a GREAT idea! I think it would help it go much faster!

    • @connieskoipond6551
      @connieskoipond6551 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Or cut a fat straw in half. I prefer the straws unless the pegs are too close together.

    • @mildredpierce4506
      @mildredpierce4506 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Connie Yurkus, unless the straw is made of thick plastic, it will bend too easily and slow you down. I tried straws (the regular thin plastic ones) and had better success with the pen tube.

    • @Aliasbaba41
      @Aliasbaba41 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, depending on your loom, the bulkier the yarn is the better. Otherwise the stitches may not close and you get more of a fish net effect.

    This is very interesting, reminds me of the 4 posted dolls for creating the ropes of yarn from childhood. Seems a lot slower than regular knitting. Is there something different that you can do with loom knitting that can't be done with regular knitting?

    • @Tuteate
      @Tuteate  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Monique Hodgkinson hi! :) Sometimes there are some works that are easier on a loom, like working the brim of a hat for example (we just need to fold it back on the loom again, like here: th-cam.com/video/SEHE3WGui30/w-d-xo.html)...

    Please tell me how to get tight stitches. I'm using the same method you are but my stitches are SO loose and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Even pulling the yarn tightly as I go has no effect.

    • @ShiaNaturesFearie
      @ShiaNaturesFearie 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +VermilionLotus Happened to me too. Just Google it and you'll find lots of help on that. ;)
      Your yarn isn't bulky enough. This often depends on the pegs because if the pegs are far apart from each other, you need thicker yarn.

    • @VermilionLotus
      @VermilionLotus 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ShiaNaturesFearie the loom I have is just like the one in the video.

      VermilionLotus
      Then your yarn needs to be more bulky or use two threads. I use two threads. :) My loom looks like this one as well. :)

    • @VermilionLotus
      @VermilionLotus 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ShiaNaturesFearie I used two threads, so I guess it's a bulk issue. I bought some bulky yarn recently, so I will try that.

      Yes I think so too. Unfortunately I can't see what you're doing wrong. :( I used 2 threads of semi bulky yarn.

    I'm new to knitting , and I would like to make a medium sized infinity scarf on a loom , not too long , not too short but I have 3 questions :
    What size loom is this ?
    How many balls of yarn should be used for a medium sized infinity scarf?
    How do I sew on the ends ? Would I use the loom ?

    • @Tuteate
      @Tuteate  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kayla Moore hi! The loom we used here is 36cm long and, for your reference, we did a very long scarf (210cm long) so we used 450 grams of this yarn (9 balls of 50 grams). Here you will see more details: www.tuteate.com/2012/11/13/teje-una-bufanda-con-telar/

    Hi Tuteate!
    I was wondering if there is a way that I can change colors as I am knitting the scarf. For example: Start with blue and knit until I have maybe 4 inches, then change to white and knit another 4 inches, and so on. If so, how and where would I cut old color and add my new color? I woukd like to make a scarf to match a hat I made. Thank you.

    I have created a scarf as a gift for a family member using your tutorial and it turned out gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy your style of teaching there wanted to request you if you could show how to create an adult sweater for a man using the rectangular looms. Thanks

    Ho provato un sacco di volte a fare come viene mostrato nel tutorial,ma non mi viene bene. Se non troppo lento. Non capisco se mi sfugge qualche passaggio. Per favore chiedo un piccolo aiuto,qualche consiglio. Grazie mille di cuore.

    I just want to say I liked your video style. I watch DIY videos that are hard to watch and make me want to fast forward. Not yours! I want to make a 'Dr, Who" scarf, not knowing how to knit I think I like this. The knitting instructions say to cast on 55 (80)sts. Is there a loom I should use that's longer?

    I have no idea how I got here ... lol. But, actually, I found watching this to be VERY relaxing; so much so that I viewed it through whilst listening to the soothing music. Nice work, that's for sure and perhaps something I feel I could do! The only (possible)foreseeable problem would be in in my wife wondering what on earth her husband is doing Loom knitting! ... LOL. Still ... a great video! :) ~F~

    This is seems awesome! I'm used to this sort of technique because of the bracelets I made with elastics on my loom. Will try!

    I'm very new to loom knitting and I've been looking for good tutorials. I love your videos! For this particular one, what weight (I think that's the right term) yarn are you using? I purchased some bulky (5) yarn and was wondering if that would work for this type of stitch?

    • @Tuteate
      @Tuteate  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jenny White hi! Thanks for your words :) On this tutorial we used this type of yarn: shop.tuteate.com/hilos-y-lanas/118-rapido-petrole.html which is recommended for knitting needles of 6mm - 7mm (sorry, not sure which "weight" is that)

    Hello! It’s my first time using a loom….what the width/diameter of the yarn you used? My stitches look very loose. I think the yarn I’m using might be too thin 😢

    Okay so I have a project that requires me to chain cast 60 out of a 62 peg rectangular loom. I haven't been able to find a video that shows how to chain cast from one side to the other. What would be your suggestion on how to do that?
