I'm so jealous of the way the rest of the world celebrates pride. In USA it's just really people marching down streets calling it a parade but, it's almost just a protest with young straight girls at the head of the parade holding the pride banner. They don't even let a hot gay guy hold it. It's like gay pride for straight viewing 🤔 I still can't figure out why people want to come to America? I want to escape.
Hi, it's the same, here in France, Gay pride has become a bi and young pride. I think it is a good thing as it shows youth is less homophobic than ever. Sorry to hear you want to escape from where you live, I would do and did the same. Went to London for a while but I missed France, I came back after 6 years... Now I'm a gay man in a straight world, with straight friends. C'est bien aussi C'est la vie. Non ?

I wanted to escape and I did. I drove across the USA then sold my auto bought a cheap one way ticket and left for Europe. I've lived in 10 countries including Australia. In all those countries I felt safer and more free than ever I did in the USA. If it weren't for my mother I'd have probably never returned even for a visit. Never felt comfortable there nor that I belonged. The numerous times I visited the states it was familiar but not my world. After my mother died 2009 at Los Angeles I had no reason to ever return. However I lived for a time in West Hollywood and experienced one Pride parade there. It was abysmal and disappointing. A city of 12,000,000 people it felt more like a village parade. Even Zurich with a population of 500,000 people had a celebration 100 times what there was in West Hollywood which is and has been a mecca for homosexual residents, business since the 1950's. It was a small and paltry affair. I don't only mean the small parade itself but the amount of people along the short routed was insignificant and with no atmosphere of real LIFE. You would enjoy the parades in Zurich, Berlin, Cologne, between 500,000 and 1,000,000 people plus other cities like Amsterdam where the parade is in boats along the canals and where there is truly a feeling of camaraderie and a celebration of who we are. And beyond that the daily life and existence is so much more than in the USA. It is not perfect here far better than in the states, in my experience.

@@stanleyjames7567 I don't understand how you can say that these types of events (where freedom and equality are celebrated) don't exist here. They may not exist in your town in Virginia, but they definitely happen in many places all over America. I'll grant you that Europe and South America sometimes do it up a little grander, but I've been to several comparable events here in America. I understand your frustration and your dream to have these types of experiences, BELIEVE ME. Within the last 10 years I realized that the kinds of experiences I longed for probably weren't going to find me, so I found and went to them. I'm so glad I did. I hope you have the chance to experience your dream too.
