Just got back from racing the blackjack enduro at whiterock in combs Arkansas. Was short of a finish but getting closer and closer to getting this all planned and figured out.
Shane, haven't caught up in a while but great to see you're still riding and the Varg has ignited the spark again! Funny that you're one of the few putting out real world videos of what it's like to own and race the Varg. We got to test ride these at the motocross track here in Colorado, and I was blown away. So much so, I've been considering one as my next replacement, but I have concerns about reliability being so new and range concerns once remote in the mountains. I hate seeing you having to be the guinea pig, but I certainly appreciate you taking the time to share the experience.
I was happy to sign on to be the guinea pig, I do feel bad about dragging my wife through the issues but she still has the gas bike for the races that she needs
I've had problems with my Stark as well. Aluminum in the coolant damaging the electric water pump (probably from the radiator). Then 2nd ride had a power cut out due to the radiator fan (per Stark). Stark customer support has been great and all parts have been shipped directly to me quickly. The bike is so much fun! Especially with engine braking turned to zero. It made my gas bike feel like riding a sack of potatos and realize how much throttle it takes to generate power on a gas bike. Gas bike felt so slow after riding the Stark! I hope all my problems are behind me because the bike is all i want to ride. Too bad local AMA wont let me race it yet.
I havent had much chance to get out on my stark due to snow but i can attest they are awesome to deal with!! I had throttle shutting off issues, they logged into the bike ans shut off the sensor, havent been out on it since to confirm the fix but they are great to deal with!
ITs ok... KTM can't make a kickstand either! How heavy are those to pick up? Cool that your racing with it. I'm sure I could do a lot of the riding I do with an E bike. I think I would miss the clutch. Glad it refreshed the love with riding!
@@ShanePinney I ride a DR350 for years. Air cooled and it listed weight was 250. I think ready to ride it came in around 265 ish. Not a stranger. It was pretty light on its feet, but a bit heavy to pick up.
Hey Shane I made it about half your miles. Tried to recharge at the remote gas after T3 (I had 19% left) but the electrons were dribbling in slowly. Left with 40% which I thought would get me through T4 but a mile down the transfer my battery showed 27% I tried to make T4 anyway got stuck behind a conga line of SXS's which killed my time and battery. Had to leave the bike and come back with my van :-( But man the Varg's power worked great on the trail hope to make Hardwood.
This race really showed me that when you pull it off the charger, especially the 240v generator , that it’s reading a little high while on the charger. I pulled it off at 50% at the gas stop and was at 42 a hundred feet into the transfer
YT channel Surronster has a Varg that motor/power is cutting out like you describe - his video shows what is happening - cuts out - having kick stand break is not good - looked very thin - need to be strong - chain adjuster bolt strip is worrying - could be hard to fix preeminently - i have been riding eMC 4 yrs - its Great Fun
I have my bike fixed, the battery failed. I already have the warranty battery installed and on a camping trip ride today and yesterday. We rode 70 miles yesterday. There is a company that makes a more robust kickstand bracket that I will be buying
you cant charge for 10 minutes you have to balance out the battery let the charger do it thing and cycle tho the sells topping up and down levels or your cook BMS
You don't have to let the charger balance the battery. Balancing happens when the battery is left on the charger at over 100% for about 30 minutes. And you dont want to charge to 100% every time.
unless battery is full - voltage / % will drop some when removed from charger - % will drop fast then slow and then stop - Last part of charging cycle is where cell balance happens at around 90% up

Thank you for product testing the Varg before I make a decision

I have lots of friends that miss the clutch. I don’t mind much. It’s a smidge over 260 pounds so it’s pretty stout

I forgot to thank you again for the remote charging opportunity. Thanks! @@ShanePinney
Sorry if I missed it, but are they replacing the battery under warranty or did you have to buy a new battery?
No biggie! They are replacing it.
Thank you for convincing me to cancel my order for a few more years.
Glad to help
How did it go with the rear hand break????
Actually, didn’t mind it too much. The first section I was still timid from it

I agree that it can’t be great to charge for short bits but it’s kind of necessary at this point
