I have ancestry in Mali🇲🇱 and I have always felt connected to Fulani culture. Even in my country the called Indo-Guyanese Muslim Fulaman and Fulawoman even though they came to the country almost 200 years after the first enslaved West African Muslim did a. I've always loved African tone since I first heard it from Sudanese but only learned today from another youtuber (Visual poet 1) about Shaikh Jabbie and this Soninke recitation. And then to hear him recite Surah Yusuf. This just brought me to tears. How many of my Muslim ancestors recalled the trials of Prophet Yusuf alahi salaam as they crossed the Atlantic in the belly those horrendous ships? How many recited this in the bottom of slave ships?

My Dad's side is African but mixed with a lot of European. Many of those countries have Fulani, Fulbe, people so who knows. These are the bits of History that the slave trade has caused to be lost in time and DNA test can only tell part of the story.
