Many times, I’ll enjoy a movie but think that the filmmaker didn’t know how to end it. Emerald’s ending is brilliant. I wish I could talk about it, but I’ll let you discover it yourself. And given the actual number of production days, she should feel very proud for the reward she gave her audience. Carey is a true gem. The underlying sadness that her character has to fight through permeates Carey’s performance with sublime pathos. In order to know if she wins, one must define winning. That's a great point - in order to know if she wins , one must define winning. I'm struggling with the end and this gives some perspective.
Emerald's original ending would've looked and felt too flat. The ending we got was the better one really.
PYW was amazing. I hope Carey wins the oscar for Best Actress and Emerald the Best original screenplay.
