Here in Sweden very many prefer juniper as material for butter knives. Take a little sniff and you'll understand. Wonderful! It's also very beautiful with lots of knots!

Fantastic! I currently work on my own wooden knife, from some quite strong wood named ‘marupa’ in Portuguese. It is always good to see how others do similar projects

Hi Tomasz. Big fan of your channel and love the boards and knives! They're all great but if I had to choose it would be the spalted beech. I'd make everything out of it if I could 😄

    • @CasualDIY

Thank you kindly. Yes its one of a kind. Got only one small board of that salted beech 🙄

I hate butter, but I love these knives ... the grain on each of the pieces is beautiful ... my favourite is the 3rd one, the burl 👍

Beautiful knives! Do you have templates or patterns to share? Or is this all freehand? If so, would like to know dimensions approximately. Thank you!

    • @CasualDIY

Hi they were all free hand and were given as gifts so I can't give you any dimensions unfortunately sorry.

When using spalted wood for food related items you must seal it properly as the molds and fungi can leach into foods. These molds and fungi can be toxic. Just using a mineral oil or any oil/wax finish will not do.

Looks great, great idea for gift and to use up them small bits of "scrap" wood. Just goes to show you there is no such thing as scrap wood.

I loved all of them. But what strick me was that the knives where you had stuck on handles, the decorative wood seemed to have been sanded awayvery thin. I think it would have looked more awesome is the tang had also been sanded down and then the decorative wooden handles had been glued down and then sanded. You would really have seen more of the decorative wood then.
