It looks like a Starship booster with 33 v3 engines will be able to dig an even deeper hole in their launch platform.

I've always thought that the first IFT test was done purposely without water diverters just to get data on how much damage they can do, so they can build a good data model for how to land and take off with all those engines safely.. and how strong their infrastructure has to be.. or how tall landing legs have to be..
I hope you are not on YT now. Because it is full of aesthetic launch videos from IFT2 and IFT3. WITHOUT ANY PAD DAMAGE AT ALL!

Consequently, this advancement enables several potential benefits, such as shorter booster stages, taller starships capable of accommodating larger cargo (not necessarily heavier), or increased fuel capacity for orbital refueling purposes.
Larger cargo is a rather important point; observe the JWST (James Webb); it had to be intentionally segmented in several parts to fit in delivery vehicles, requiring systems on board to extend and assemble for function. This introduces many critical points of failures.
This also allows starship to spend less time fighting gravity thus saving fuel
Perhaps the tank itself were the cargo then fuel could be put in from Mars atmosphere as their now planning.

does anyone else think spacex wont push v3 to 100% for flights , something similar to neutron? not stressing the engines a much? sounds like it makes sense for rapid reuse?
They never do. Theres max output, and then operational output.
12 raptor 2's were destroyed on ascent. im assuming the initial 3 pushed the rest of the engines to have to work harder, eventually destroying a full 3rd of them and then failign to get to orbit.

Remember, the Neutron rocket isn't fully reusable. There is a second stage that they won't recover.
I predict that with engine improvement, the heavy booster will evolve to use less engines.
If the engines get better would they not just push more mass?
A good idea as less engines equal less possible points of failure.

I thought NASA found the rotating wheel would not work for humans because the coriolis acceleration of centrifugal motion would mess with the inner ear making balance near impossible?
@@richbarrows3922 For a small drum like _Discovery One_ had, sure. But the larger the diameter, the less coriolis force affects your inner ear.
Idea would be a Flying Explorer. Inflatable guided parachute design concept. Vertical lift. No extra weight of landing gear.

19 billion in revenue? Something is wrong there. Also, the Neutron, while very cool, is not really fully reusable. It's more like the Falcon 9: only the first stage is reusable.
Neutron reuses fairing. The fairing will be reusable and thus will be recovered for each launch.
@@catchnkill Yes, that is true, but is not sufficient to make the vehicle fully reusable. The 2nd stage is not reusable.

They could also put less engines on super heavy and carry the same weight… or a little more payload since they don’t have the weight of the engines.
The most important factor to using fewer engines is less possible points of failure.

Yes. The proposed “Starship 2.0” with an 18m diameter would require approximately 100 Raptor engines.

Space X’s heavy launch vehicle and its Raptor engines are promising breakthroughs, however; several engines failed during the first stage’s launch and ascent. An outside source stated that it appear: E1, E6, and E7 had failed at launch. E18 failed violently at T+30; E19 failed at T+46; E22 failed at T+60; E23 failed at T+94; at T+122 flames were visible at the thrust section; and at T+130 the rocket started spinning out of control. Also, the rocket did not reach its design attitude for stage separation.
Those are old batches of engines they wanted to get rid of.

Had to scroll all the way down over 200 subscriptions to get to channels that start with the word "The" then click your channel to find it. I could see the vid listed on my phone..??
