Giorgi played some inspired tennis here. Laser-like backhand; wonderful reflexes. She made Bianca (no pushover herself) look like she wasn't trying. Was Bianca injured? What a great game from Giorgi, though. Congrats! Well deserved win!
Bianca intimated that she had a slight injury, towards the second set I think. Couldn’t move super well at the end , but I think Giorgi was gonna win either way
It's funny, this is really impressive by Giorgi but it also make me a little sad. It's a glimpse of what could have been for her career if she'd had a better coaching setup and the right people around her looking out for her best interests.

When Giorgi is striking the ball cleanly, she is extremely tough to beat. However, her aggressive play style sometimes is difficult to maintain throughout an entire tournament. Invariably, she will play a match where she makes too many errors and loses as a result. But she is still fun to watch, even when she's losing ;)

If Giorgi was able to play at this level in a consistent was she'd be top 5 no doubt about it, too bad she is very inconsistent and she also lacks variety in her gameplay (no dropshots, no slices, no going to the net...)
Andreescu forgot her game plan. She got roped into playing Giorgi's game, i.e. end to end ball bashing. She should've thrown in more variety which is her strength - more slices, drop shots, loopy high balls. Few people could go toe to toe with Giorgi on ball bashing, even Keys could barely keep up. I think Giorgi will have trouble with players like Bouzkova or Jabeur.
This is a great point. I'm not sure Bianca could have beaten Giorgi today anyway, but I agree that she didn't bring her normal level of variety and feel to the match. She hasn't looked as explosive as she used to lately either. I'm not sure what's going on. Hats off to Giorgi though. She hit the cover off the ball out there.
As a fan of Bianca I'm getting tired of her, there's always "something" that doesn't let her perform at 100%. Today honestly she played a bad match, and I don't want to take credit of Camila that played amazing but in the 2nd set Bianca was missing super easy shots. In her last match vs Kostyuk she played much better but she couldn't close it, today she was a disaster. As time passes I'm staring to give up on her
